TeamSpeak Use it or not

Just curious how many folks have and use TeamSpeak when playing ESO. One of my guilds uses it, and I find it pretty useful when I group up with them. Found some Zergs use it in PVP as well, but I don't PVP much and my guild mainly use it for PVP during primetime hours when I am not available. I am thinking about trying to get my own channel/ server for use when recruiting for PVE grouping and dungeon runs. I just hate having to stop and type different strategies for all the dungeons etc... If you answer yes please explain what you use it mainly for PVE or PVP.

i tried it twice, so i guess i used it, but cant really say i use it. Its a pain to setup .... need to get hardware working, join teamspeak and figure that out. Make sure ur teamspeak works with ur hardware..... find a guild that does teamspeak, ...... find people on line to help a newbie..... ok now its set up .... at the moment i rarely see teamspeak people in my guild so i never use it.

If Zos wanted to make this game so group centric (95% of new release stuff is group content) ........... they should have added voice coms to the game or released it thru something like steam with voice coms. Currently its a pain to set up.

Hate it. Hate groups that require it and kick you if you don't have it. I have a 3-year old son and it's not feasible in the house with him anyway. (I have to be able to hear him, so no earphones, and language from users makes it not an option over speakers.)

I thought is was fairly easy to set up. If your rig can handle ESO, then surely it can handle TeamSpeak. Only thing you might need to invest in is a headset with mic. I agree with you, ZOS should have incorporated some sort of voice coms to the game.

I use it, but my guild use a hosted ts3.
There are some free ts3 servers that u can use and even give you the possibility to ask for a permanent channel, don't know how it works but lots of people do this.
In this kind of server u can create a temporary channel that get delete when the last person in it leaves. Its a nice solution for dungeons run with pug if u don't have a guild server or if u cant take the to your guild server for some guild rule.

    Edit:
You can even set up your free 32 slot ts3 server if your bandwidth support it and your pc/mac can handle it.

I use TS3 with my guildies on my own home server (public hostname is static via dynamic DNS). Hands-free voice communication is better for anything, be it PvE or PvP, and it's so much more sociable.

Edited to say: I'm under the impression that TS is widely popular in Europe, while in westward parts of the world Ventrilo and Mumble are more commonly used. Let's see what happens to the alternative poll option once the sun comes 'round in the Americas.

In the MMOs I've seen having this feature, the voice quality was always subpar, not to say bordering on the unusable, when compared to the dedicated VoIP programs. This, and the fact that most people like to retain at least some marginal control over whom they are placed with in a chat channel with, led to the effect that the in-game voice chat feature was so widely ignored that it wouldn't have been missed if it had gone AWOL.

My guild has a TS3 server and uses it for dungeon runs or just occasionally hanging out. It isn't required unless the content is particularly difficult, and even then people don't have to use voice unless they want to.

It's a great tool to have, but some people prefer not to use it, so giving them the option is usually the way to go.

A little of topic here. I googled free teamspeak server and ran across this website. https://www.gametracker.com/search/ts3/US/ I am not on my main computer to test, but could I possibly use one of these servers if I got a PUG together to play. I wouldn't mind paying the 3-4 bucks monthly for my own, but obviously if I can get it free why not. And I am not sure how my 6 MB down/1MB up HSI would handle hosting myself and playing the game.

Use TS in PvP group. I once wished Zeni could develope a voice communication add-on or just make it in-game so it would be easier to use because you do everything in-game and no need to run other programs. But this is Zenimax Online and the Elder Scrolls, everything could be pretty buggy, so...

I have both Teamspeak and Mumble as different guilds I am in use different ones. I find them used most for PvP coordination, which is as it should be. In roleplaying guilds when someone is actually DMing an event for their guild they are also often used, which is very handy. These services definitely have a place in MMOs and I'm glad they're available.

I hate TS and evey other voice comm software...and phones =) I prefer to use ingame chat even if it means we have to stop for a few minutes. However I have to use TS in trials mostly just to listen ppl's idle talk laughs and farts that i'm totally not interested in but sometimes they actually discuss tactics wer gonna use so its a useful thing. Also there are situations in trials when you need to say something during combat and using ingame chat is simply not an option in this case.

it took me a few months to warm up to the idea.. im kinda shy on voicechats so i mostly listen.. but in a pvp group it's very important
so much faster then typing. in a dungeon you can get away with ingame group chat.

I don't use it yet because I'm not up to attempting trials. But if I were, I'd expect to use it or Mumble or whatever with the group I was going with. In fact, I think if the group that I went with didn't have voice comms, I'd probably not go.

I suggest earphones if you don't want people around to hear the casual unavoidable f-word. And if your environment is noisy do not use a mic, will you please?

    Hearing
"JOE, YOU WANT POTATOS FOR DINNER?"
while silently flanking a group of enemies can sometimes ruin your game play... Or your keyboard. Or both.

Currently 'using' Vent rather than Teamspeak, mainly because that is what my main guild has set up for use in dungeons etc although they don't insist on it. Previous guild had teamspeak.

I hardly use it though. I don't like wearing a headset. And if a guild were to say, no voice chat, no group, I'd likely never group with them.

I mean, it's not that flipping hard to work out what's going on in the game that I need specific instructions ... The dungeons are pretty linear and after running through something once you tend to remember where the sticky points are. I just make sure I don't run ahead, in case the 'leader' wants to go right rather than left for some peculiar reason.

My guild uses TS and it's really useful for group dungeons and PvP, as well as just the casual hanging out or PvE together.

If you are in a noisy environment, it might be best to set up push to talk. I'm also looking to get a good mono-aural headset, as TS and ESO are not set up on the same computer, so wearing a headset for TS obstructs the sound of the game.

But yeah, I've been in dungeon runs where the group leader had to spend five minutes typing out strategy to take out a specific boss and could have saved a lot of time if there was some sort of voice comms.

I can't get cable where I live so my internet hook up is from satellite. Can't use ts or anything like it because of the bandwidth usage.. Which sucks when I can't get a group in pvp because I don't have it. Oh well, life sucks sometimes :\ . I have to say though, I've done dungeons and don't remember anyone takeing 3-5 mn to type anything.. usually if theres 2-3 etc its more like lft,rt, bss or something similar and there haven't been any problems..

In Vet level dungeons some of the bosses have mechanics/attacks that require previous knowledge to properly react to them, particularly if you are going for one of the extra achievements, so a lengthy explanation is helpful.

I've done groups with chat and with TS and I prefer TS.
