[Proposal] New feature: Apply for guild membership at guild vendors

In order to improve the current system of guild vendors I am suggesting a new feature: Allow users to apply for guild membership at the kiosks.

Why:
- This makes it easier for users to join trading guilds and it makes it easier for trading guilds to grow.
- Essentially this feature allows a user to go to a kiosk and sell his items there (by first requesting membership) so the experience will be more immersive.
- This mechanism would greatly improve the rate of active players inside trading guilds.

How: The conversation menu at the kiosk shows a new option "The suchandsuch guild is recruiting, apply now." By clicking that option the user sends a notification to the guild master which behaves similar to a group invitation. The guild master can then accept or decline this request.

In order to avoid spamming or for private guilds, it should be possible to turn off this feature in the guild menu. Also it might make sense to disable applications while the guild is at max members.

Would be kinda cool though needs some fleshing out. It may help calm the guild spam in chat but guilds in prime locations would get slammed an smaller guilds who don't have prime locations wouldn't get as many

@AshySamurai‌ Well your membership would have to be approved first. But if the guild master is online this shouldn't be more than a few seconds. So in that case, yes you can pretty much immediately sell at the kiosk.

That's what the off switch is for. ;-) Coul be set to off by default, so that it's an opt-in feature for guilds who are still recruiting or want to replace inactive members with more active members.

@spoqster‌ You mean recruit new members through kiosk? If yes, then that it's not bad idea. But I agree with @ers101284b14_ESO‌. Kiosks in most popular places mostly buyout by big guilds, which is no need in new recruits. Maybe if guild can't hire the same kiosk for a mounth or so could help, but I dont thing that this is a good desigion. But I still think your idea is pretty nice.

I wish I could vote yes for this 100x. I have a post up LF a good trade guild with kiosk since yesterday in Guild Headquarters PVE, with 12 views and 0 responses. I was hoping to avoid spamming chat to attempt to find kiosk owners, but I guess there is no choice.

Sad reality is I had three trade guilds selling a couple items each day pre-kiosk and now I only get 1-2 sales every other day in the biggest (500 member) since implementation. I can appreciate the concern for small trade guilds, but some are already a dead zone.

I think it's a decent idea. At minimum, it would be nice to have a "contact an officer" option at the kiosk so an interested person could send a whisper to someone that could give them some more info on the guild and toss an invite to them. Even then there would be some minor issues to sort out to make it functional but it's a great idea to explore.

Well system is working very fine atm and in order to allow people to apply, you'd need to do a lot of coding and I just don't see this as an important feature.

Edit: I do agree though that you should be able to see who guild leader/recruitment officer is in kiosks to be able to contact them & ask for a spot.

I like this idea. I would modify this a little to display the page that gives the guild overview with the information about the guild. That way you could see what the guild is all about, like if it's also a PVP guild, or if it's one of those guilds with a membership fee, or whatever else they put on that page, before applying to join. I know I'd want that info before signing up.

Sounds great! This is definitely necessary.
A possible implementation solution is to have the first dialog option open a recruiting window that shows the guild description and an Apply Now button below it.

The problem with this is that most of the desirable guilds at decent locations are already at or very near the guild membership cap. So it really wouldn't do anyone any good. Everyone would rush to join the top few trading guilds, only to be laughed at.

Nope, the big guilds who have the kiosks don't need recruits. Those with standards for admission wouldn't use it as they don't want the spam. And the above suggestion--PVP guilds and the like using them as advertisements--would make kiosks even more hit and miss than they are now for finding stuff.

What they need is simply a text area --maybe 3 lines--that the guild masters can use to put in info about themselves. IF they are recruiting, what the guilds focus is, who to contact, etc.

Before they add another new feature, how about they fix guilds first? I still wont be in a guild simply because no guild out there will open the guild bank to members for fear of theft. This means the guild leader gets a 500 item bank all to himself and also benefits by the free gold pouring into the bank from the guild sales taxes.
Soon as they add bank tabs that can be assigned to specific ranks, then guilds will be brought up to 2005 standards...

I don't know.

• If the guild is full, the guild master probably wouldn't turn the feature on. Then when the guild loses members the guild master can turn the feature on instead of spamming the zone chats.
• Also, there are indeed good trading guilds which have a trader and are not filled to capacity yet.
• As a player it will really help with finding a good trading guild to join, because you can actively look and don't have to passively wait for zone chat messages.
• And as I mentioned above, PVP guilds could hire traders as advertising agents.

It won't work. because of the limit of 500 people on the guild. The better kiosk guilds already have maxed members.... so it would be pointless in the aspect you are wanting.

I see almost no reason not to go with this, great idea.

Could probably use a bit of fleshing out as was said previously, but that's what PTS is for.

@Sotonin - With respect, I don't know why some guilds being at the member cap means this "won't work". Those guilds simply won't be able to take new members. Guilds who aren't at cap would be able to. We mustn't assume every guild who rents a kiosk is already capped out.

Essentially we are suggesting the same thing (if @Slurg‌ 's idea is included in my proposal). My idea just circumvents the need to go through the chat by adding a specific membership request action.

But I like your suggestion very much. It's even simpler and thus easier to implement.

• Add a new option to the guild vendor dialog menu.
• When a user clicks it he sees the guild info displayed either in dialog form or in a pop up.
• (optional) Add a new text field to the guild settings that is specifically used for this purpose of recruiting.

I proposed a guild roster that shows all guilds, their description and whether or not they're recruiting a while back, but I'd also be fine with this system.

Most guilds want to conduct interviews to make sure you'll fit in, and if they do trials/quests/etc that you'll be able to pull your weight.

This is apply by click, not the way forward. At most it needs to be directions to an area where you can ask to join.

Yes, I am suggesting "Apply by Click", but the guild master can do an interview (or whatever else) before accepting the request. As @Slurg noted above, displaying the guild description will be necessary.

However, I believe that while this long-term project of creating a better economy is crucial, I don't see any reason why not to tweak the current system in the meantime.
