Haven't been experiencing nasty lag, per se - but definitely crashing a LOT more than usual in Cyrodiil. Everyone in my group crashes at least 4-5 times in a 4-6 hour session, with no notable event. Can happen at anytime for no apparent reason.

It happens for the reason listed in the title of the post, memory leak. As soon as you get around 3.5gb mem .....crash incoming. You can monitor and avoid it by logging out and back in around 3gb mem.

This needs to be Priority #1 fix.

Log out and wait 120 places in the queue? No thanks.

Lets be honest it took them over 3 weeks to fix the FPS issue, and they acknowledged that bug from the get go... At this rate I doubt it will be fixed in the near term.

A more suitable phrase would be "abnormally increasing memory usage resulting in program instability and failure".

So yeah, sure it could be related to how the program handles the cache or any number of object rendering issues (it would be funny if it was caused by something stupid like infinitely rendering grass), but past problems with the programming would lend one to lean towards memory leak. But without access to the code there's no way to know for sure. Only ZOS would know, and their QA is about as observant as a kitten chasing a lazer pointer...incapable of distinguishing a little red light from something they should be chasing down and eliminating with extreme prejudice. It is equally entertaining to watch them chase nothing though.

is it really important what it is? SOMETHING make the game crash once every hour - and it seems to be happening on a large scale. It could be a memory leak, it could be godawful coding - i don't really care - it needs to be FIXED asap! And that's it.

    Disclaimer:
no, i have no clue about programming, am I entitled to still demand a workable product? Yes, of course!

also im always curious with memory leak thread complaints...as it seems to be the cover all issue to any lag related issue in game...feel free to post a screenie of all your task managers showing an actual memory leak on the ESO client.

    There have actually been several.
    2. I already downloaded the patch, and it was small (would HAVE to be bigger if there was a new Client)

I'm not actually at my computer where ESO is installed to check file sizes, but typically speaking an executeable/dll change WOULD be small. It's the assets that tend to be very large.

Im beginning to see TESO as an experiment, thrown together by the colluding gaming industry. The purpose? To see just how much customers put up with in terms of faulty/*** software products - they must be rubbing their greedy hands with delight right about now.

No, it doesn't. When you crash you don't logout and free the queue. That's why I just alt+f4 my game from time to time..
  • trustcotraptb14_ESO
Massive skill lag / unable to fire ULT
Skills not working as intended / AoE abilitys not hitting anything
Character getting stuck mid combat, unable to move - must relog to fix
Unable to enter/exit doors - E does nothing
    Client crashes very frequently
    Server rollbacks

These are the major issues I've encountered since resubbing a week ago.

The game is still a buggy train wreck.

Homm, you don't seem to have much of a sense of humor but that's ok. Anyway it does have some impact on the queque however slight. Speaking for me, the last 3 nights I ended my days game play on a crash.

As a retired Aerospace Systems Engineer, I hunted down these types of errors a lot.
FYI - There is no such thing as 'night capping' in a world wide MMO.
FYI - There was no paid Beta. When they launched the game the Beta was over, even if you don't think it was.
    FYI - It's B2P not F2P. There is a difference.
FYI - It doesn't take any player skill to mash keys or buttons in this game. The ones that stay alive longer have the better internet connection and speed.
FYI - The game is not broken, it still works. It just has 'bugs' that need to be fixed.
    Balance is a "Bad" thing.

Example: There were hundreds of Jedi and only two Sith in Star Wars. The Jedi wanted, "Balance in the Force" and they got it. Now there are only two Jedi and two Sith.

Never once did i run into a group that beat us from having a barrier up.. This is a l2p issue just like rolling out of oil, moving out of the impulse bomb groups and for a short time the orbs...

Thanks Gina, this is really good news. I hope it will be fixed sometime this week as in the current state the game is almost unplayable for many of us.

I wonder if you/the devs would be willing to share the information as to what exactly the source was for this leak. Just for curiosity's sake.

Also, a big fat "told you so" to all the naysayers who kept insisting there was no leak and that those of us with the problem just have terrible computers. :P

Well, to be fair, there ARE several reasons why a game can crash, including problems with peoples' individual hardware, OS, and computer set up. But when something as widespread as this current problem is going on, it's cleary a larger issue. If one person out of a thousand is crashing, it's probably something on that person's end. If 500 out of a thousand are crashing, there's a problem with the game.

I wonder if they even worked on the leak during the weekend. It crashes for me and people in my party about 1 time every 15-40 minutes. With a leak that bad I would hope someone gets paid overtime to fix it faster. I don't care about my armor being salmon colored or if a node in Vile Manse is respawning too quickly. In fact, I think it's bad enough to warrant having this worked on 24/7 and through the weekend and I don't care if their wives are going into labor or if they have vacations they were supposed to take this is bs.
