Hhhm ! Does that mean we get 2 months worth of load testing on this server like we did on the US one ? :(

Take a look again at the photos of the racks they've posted. HP BladeServers don't come cheap, ever. ^_^

(Besides, in IT circles it's considered certain suicide to change the underlying hardware of a system on a whim. If it ran on HP big irons in Dallas, TX, it will run on HP big irons everywhere)

This was a joke. On my work we also have a complete replication of production infrastructure just for testing needs, but some time ago a million cost storage hardware could not detect just one ssd gone bad, killing everything without a possibility to find what's wrong :)

Interesting to read the comments. The game got better for me two or threefold. The lags were gone, and the fights were smooth. But please note, that I stopped playign at 23:25 CET. I'll try it again now.

Poor excuse in my book. My engineers work through nights to get transfers done. This was simply done to keeps costs down and again to show they don't care about their EU customers when it comes to timings...

    BULL ****ing ***t

You have no clue what you are talking about and keep claiming how bad Zenimax is.....

Get facts, THEN you can accuse crap like this.
Posting outright lies, over and over again, should get a user banned.
Zenimax seams too nice for that....the "evil company" they are B)

I tried the game right now, and everything works in order for me. I'm from Hungary, on VDSL connection, 30/5 Mbit, 23 ping towards Frankfurt.

To be honest I feel like we had no migration at all, and they have jut set up a PROXY which makes connection faster to the OLD USA Server and overloads time to time. Server Addresses are very weird as I said in the other page.

    Um

Search 455 of my post and I say the same thing.....EU server in EU WILL NOT SOLVE 100% OF YOUR LAG PROBLEMS!

No, but for me, for example, helped a lot. A clean install and a good comp and net connection ceratinly helps further.

Could you please explain me some weird thing about the migration?
    1) In Windows resource manager, some time after the login. we can see Current Client TCP Connection Address is 159.100.232.160 and similar.
    2) If we Trace this address we see the last 3 Addresses of the Path are
    c)87.190.232.66
    b)195.122.154.4
    a)159.100.232.24
Address c is in Germany, Address b is in London and address a is in USA. I have tryed different websites and got the same answer.
Please could you enlight me? Do you warp time and space?

Let's take a look at the RIPE database, shall we?

    First, address c) 87.190.232.66
    inetnum: 87.190.232.0 - 87.190.235.255
    netname: DTAG-TRANSIT17
    descr: Deutsche Telekom AG
    descr: for IP-Transit
    org: ORG-DTAG1-RIPE
    country: DE
    status: ASSIGNED PA
    remarks: INFRA-AW
    mnt-by: DTAG-NIC

    route: 87.128.0.0/10
descr: Deutsche Telekom AG, Internet service provider
    origin: AS3320
    member-of: AS3320:RS-PA-TELEKOM
    mnt-by: DTAG-RR

So this appears to be an IP range owned by DTAG, and the description hints at it being used for peering with other ISPs. You seem to be a customer of DTAG, right?

Next up, the next-to-last hop before the data center gateway: b) 195.122.154.4
    inetnum: 195.122.154.0 - 195.122.155.255
    netname: ZENIMAX
    descr: BCHT6855
    country: DE
    admin-c: JF5024-RIPE
    tech-c: JF5024-RIPE
    status: ASSIGNED PA
    mnt-by: LEVEL3-MNT
    mnt-lower: LEVEL3-MNT
    mnt-routes: LEVEL3-MNT
    source: RIPE # Filtered

    route: 195.122.128.0/18
    descr: Level 3 RIPE block
    origin: AS9057
    mnt-by: LEVEL3-MNT

This IP range is owned and routed by level3, Inc., a global backbone ISP, and it seems to be assigned to their customer, Zenimax (either ZeniMax Media, Inc. in Rockville, MD, or ZeniMax Deutschland GmbH in -- guess where -- Frankfurt/Main). level3 operates a large data center in the central FFM city area.

Last, but not least: 159.100.232.24. This could be a network load balancer, since my connection yesterday evening went to 159.100.232.115. Anyway:
    inetnum: 159.100.224.0 - 159.100.239.255
    netname: TRRLNET
    descr: Zenimax Online Studios
    country: US
    admin-c: RC14791-RIPE
    tech-c: RC14791-RIPE
    status: LEGACY
    mnt-by: RC45721-MNT

Now, what's this? This particular IP range is owned by ZOS itself, which is, unsurprisingly, US-based. But note that there's no routing record like in the other two. Maybe it's not routed by ZeniMax itself (which it can't, since it's not an ISP), but by whatever service provider who happens to host the IP addresses? Maybe the "old" EU server in Dallas, TX and the new one in FFM are using the very same IP address, so all that had to be done was changing some global-scale routing tables? This would also have the charm that neither the client or the client's launcher, nor any DNS records needed to be changed or updated.

The geolocation of any particular address within this range could be anywhere on the planet. The usual IP location finder web sites just need some time to get their game up to par.

I would like to thank ZOS for finally moving the servers. I now have 15ms lag versus 180-400 ms. I can now finally play my imperial battle mage without wanting to smash my head against a wall. Thank you, thank you thank you =D.

Reporting back: I had minute lags yesterday, but mostly fluent gameplay with very good responsiveness. A fine indicator is the weapon swap time, which is now instant versus the former 2-3 seconds.

I suggest that those who still experience lags look around their own turf first, then seek help from ZOS staff. They were helpful with me every time, and at least gave me information, if the problem could not be fixed.

We are still getting pretty severe lag spikes, the chances of it being client side are remote at best as out guild are spread out all over the EU and everyone on TeamSpeak are reporting the same thing at the same time.

I am not whining, I understand the infrastructure that must be in play for this solution but something from ZOS to at least say they are aware of the problem would be great.

I haven't trawled all the forums or done a search on "lag" or "lag spikes" as I do not have the time to look through all of those results. If anyone knows of a statement from ZOS on the mater and can point me in the riht direction it would be appreciated.

We are still getting pretty severe lag spikes, ... something from ZOS to at least say they are aware of the problem would be great.

    Definitely this.

It's great to see that things have got better for some EU customers but just a cursory glance at zone chat in Cyrodiil will show you that for many, many players things have got severely worse :( I'm also seeing multiple people regularly reporting lag spikes in PvE too.

We all understand that this is probably a teething problem with the new set up, just please, please something official ...

I posted a tracert on my lag report and they just edited it out and gave no answers.
Clearly a Tracert to the Server doesn't violate ANY Forum rule......

I'm experiencing the Black-out E button stuff when trying to talk to characters, and bigger loading times - probably sunday. However, the gameplay is still fluent.

The reactivity of the game now it's awesome but many of my guildmates (and me) are experiencing freezes (E button blackout) and such... hope you solve soon because the game would really be perfect without this problem!

Man, guess I am lucky. The second the datacenter in Frankfurt was activated, I have a whole 15 ms latency. Yes, there are still lag spikes, but not NEARLY as bad as before.

Well, when enemies attack and you can't response it's the most interesting lag. After the death char is being kicked out of the server for being a bad boy :)
