Probably other posts made about this but, IMHO I think the game would be better if they just removed choosing a class, and every character had the free range to pick from any of the 12 class tree's. Perhaps put some restrictions on them, but it really would add to the "play your way" deal.

What do you guys think?

Would be nice to have this tested on the PTS to see how everyone liked it. However I doubt even that will be attempted.

To me this game would be hundreds of this better if i could focus on my char without bothering to even think about classes and how maybe reroling would be better and so on.

there wouldn't be anymore QQ about how DK's and Sorcs are op, people could mix and match 12 skill tree's together for some crazy interesting builds.

Maybe even make some of the skill lines stam based, spears, NB in general, earth heart.

I must have completely changed this 3 times now. idk what to think. I don't think the classes should be removed. yes some of the abilities are annoying sometimes, but the main "op" build(notice I said build, not class) I see, is people blobing up and spamming AOEs all day. that has nothing to do with classes(save Templars have the best healing) that's just a bunch of people putting on Light armor, getting a staff, and spamming its AOE all day. any class can do that

Kinda like what I saw with Spellcrafting. They're opening up more Skyrim-esque magic schools. It almost makes the idea of Classes obsolete.

    Almost.
Brunhilda Icehammer - Nord Dragonknight, 'Smith & Enchantress 'What is 'ranged? I need to hit something!!'
Laehl Direthorn - Bosmer Nightblade, Purveyor of fine Clothes, Bows and Staves
Reeza gra-Zuni - Orc Templar 'War Shaman' and Apothecary
Noemi Snowpaw - Kajiit Dragon Knight - I laugh... or I'd have to kill you.
Kitera Dreamon - Breton of The Dominion: Because those Daggers don't appreciate a great Mage.
Lysara Shadowcroft - Dunmer Bloodmage: This will only hurt a lot.

I agree. I just wish that they implemented something similar for the weapon side of things as well. This idea is just going to push more players to go with all magic builds.

Very true, I had the same thoughts about Spell Crafting. At the same time there are tons of passives in class tree's that will still be necessary. It would just be nice to simply respec my DK and make him like a NB :p

I wouldn't count on that, they should really change the name of Spell crafting to something more universal lol. There will be very melee friendly "spells" some will probably even cost stamina.

Oh, I was not aware that. Then I have hopes there will be stamina based "spells" mixed in. Thanks for the info

Yeap , a pity , ESO would have been the perfect game for it , but there will be more MMOs , if not this one , then the next or the one after that.

My post said that all characters should be able to pick only 3 class skills, but that they can pick any of the three. That way its more custom designed lik classical elder scrolls, while giving some form of structure where there won't ever be one super build.

I do agree with thay fact that any class can do this, but it still doesn't mean the game wouldn't be BETTER if we had no standardized classes. Sure some people would still run around with that, but more people would play how they choose with the 3 skill tree choice I previously mentioned, unlike what we have now.

It wouldn't work, mixing up the class abilities would lead to imbalance.

I still want this option! I just wanted to point out that this would put the nail on the coving for weapon abilities and there would be many players who would end up committing crimes against keyboards and other equipment's because they want to play with their 2h sword or Duel wield,

If you removed classes, there would be a whole host of new balance issues as people discovered new flavor-of-the-month combinations of skill lines. Then you'd have outraged posts here on the forums about how they TOTALLY DESTROYED BALANCE RARR!! by taking classes out.

Scrap the whole thing and go back to original Morrowind build screen.

There is no reason a warrior can do as much damage with a spell as a mage.
There is no reason a mage can use uppercut....

It blows my mind how unlike any TES game this one is, and that's half it's problem

None of the classes in ESO are "warrior" or "mage" classes. Morrowind was not "original"; that belonged to Arena which was totally class-defined. And finally, Morrowind had attributes like Strength, Intelligence, etc.

Essentially, you're saying "recode the game from scratch", and saying it with a complete misunderstanding of what the classes do. None of them tie you to an archetype, even if they lean slightly one way or another.

Yes. Scrap and recode everything. I'm saying that if you want to use a sword, ever, you should not be able to also have enough magic for more than a basic illumination spell, and sure as heck not enough for a finger of the mountain type spell or even a small fire ball.

And mages should not have the strength or stamina to effectively use melee and since magical is their thing ,
But this is how it is but sort of. It just needs more limits on what abilities the classes can use, this would end the skirt and stick warrior build.

    Yes. Scrap and recode everything.
It took six years for the game to come out, if the recoded everything it would be another six years before we could play again.

It's better to stick with what we've got than that.
