    Good to know that works.

Will be nice to be able to take screenshots that are not 8MB bitmaps and upload them easily.

    simply change usersettings.txt in C:\Users\xxxx\Documents\Elder Scrolls Online\liveeu or \live ... replace
    SET ScreenshotFormat "BMP" with
    SET ScreenshotFormat "JPG"

done. And while you are there, change
    SET SkipPregameVideos "0" to
    SET SkipPregameVideos "1"

So an announcement was made or a leak that Steam users now have access to TESO.
On social media sites people have all types of opinions and responses but I'm curious. Is this just another way to get access to the game or as some suggest, when MMORPG games go to Steam, the pricing model is subject to change?

Just a conversation topic for today...

Paul Sage said the sub model will remain and if it doesn't work ESO will go offline, it won't go F2P.

Steam access is brilliant, many MMO's already use it and many more are working their way in. I will happily buy game time.

    Edit:

    Workshop please.

Well , i think it is good for some people.

Personally , i would only think this is a huge improvement if i thought zen could not keep my data safe , but since they are a big company , for the most part i trust them atleast in this , so i got no worries.

Still , adding it to steam will allow people to get this with steam credits , which means people that did not want to put their info online will now be able to buy it with game cards and such , which sell on tons of stores when it comes to steam , should open up to more people.

TESO is coming to Steam later today.

    http://massively.joystiq.com/2014/07/17/the-elder-scrolls-online-coming-to-steam-today/

I have no problem with it, and don't see why anyone would have. If you want to run it through Steam that's fine, if not then you don't have to. It certainly doesn't presage a change to F2P, however much the cheapskates may want to clutch at any straw, and its likeliest effect will be to increase the number of players which can't be bad.

Steam is very different these days compared to a few years ago. I used to hate it, but nowadays I find it totally reliable and a very quick and efficient way of installing/running a number of MMOs including Fallen Earth, EQ, EQ2, and Vanguard, as well as Skyrim and various other games. I don't make use of Steam's social functions but I'd have thought that for those who do the addition of another of their games to their Steam library can only be good news.

Quick question, if I downloaded and played through the steam version, would it have any effect in my addons? I prefer steam personally just because everything is then in one place.

The game and addon directory location(s) is likely to change if ESO is installed as a steam app.

That's what I thought, would it be under 'steam apps' like other games and therefore would the addons link correctly?

You might simply need to copy your add-on files into the new add-on directory.

I for one think this is Awesome. Skyrim has been in the top 10 played games for the last 3 years. This will help to grab some of those players. I just hope that I can get a Steam Key so I can add my ESO to my Steam Games. O and imagine ESO in a Steam Sale, lots of new players :)

I smell F2P very soon, pity those of us that actually paid for this piece of trash disguised as an AAA MMO(lol)RPG.

Doubt it means much, all the Tes games are on Steam, at least since Morrowind. Also there are many pay to play games such as FF14 ARR, Day Z, Eve.

    Man , that was low.

Why do they deserve the dog more than those of us who bought the imperial edt before the release?

I'm pretty sure every Zenimax/Bethesda/Elder Scrols/Fallout game is on Steam.

The company is pretty much in bed with steam 24/7.

Is it really that surprising this would happen?

I like to have games in one place. So SSteam is best choice for me. Also steam launched new service like In-Home Streaming (now is beta version) service, so can stream game to low-end laptops and tablets (like Surface pro series). So I can play ESO on my Surface pro 3. Another thing is that you have Steam Workshop where people can upload addons. So I Don't need to have apps to update addons, I don't to have app for streaming service. Everything in one place. And I don't seebnothing wrong if it comes to steam. Sales is depend on developers. If developers offer some deals, so steam put that deal. Without developers premise steam can't change game price or do some deals.

Hated having to use Steam for Skyrim but now I find it really great........ their Sales are out of this world.

I will happily return 'unused' all my at launch pets, including the Beta Monkey for the Whiterun Wolfhound that is sooooo unfair!!! :(

I don't like Steam, that demand to always be online if you play a game even offline just annoys me.

Also its software that I don't want on my PC, all those ads there ...

Hopefully we can still use ESO if we refuse to get Steam.

If Perfect World bought ESO and developed it like they did and do STO it'd probably do great. I really like the way you can have a great time playing solo and any advantage you buy in the form of better starships is mostly just helping you and your fleet do better in the wide-ranging PvE content.

But then on the other hand Neverwinter is one of the worse examples for a pay to win game. A game genuinely ruined by the model.

If PWE bought ESO then they would suck the very sole out of Tes, you would have flying pink unicorns, playable Dwemer race (all availible in and only in the cash shop. Lets not forget less bag space than we have now, but of course upgrades would be available via a cash shop. Enchantments would become a cash shop commodity. Pet's, mounts, dyes, weapons, Armor, all for the low, low price of about $50 per peice... the list is endless.

    It would suck!

PLOT TWIST ESO is also an always online game!

And BTW if configured correctly Offline mode can last you 'til a superior form of intercommunication arrives.

ALSO the ads aren't that terrible, it's more of a showoff instead of forced ads IMO.

Im quite sure they would not force you into steam.

And while i do like steam , currently over 180 games there , i dont see much point in adding ESO to my library.

it is now on Steam with a bunch of Beth titles under the QuakeCon stuff.

    On sale 50% off.

You can add any game to steam and launch it but it is not considered a STEAM game. If you want to buy future stuff for this game through Steam then you have to buy the Steam version.

You do not have to 'always be online' at all, there is a setting to play offline, so once your game is launched you can just shut Steam down........... obviously that would not work for 'online games' :D

And of course you will be able to continue playing ESO as you do now :)
