Why you are upset with impulse groups!

I personally lead a bomb group / impusle group (whatever you want to call it) where we are very tight together, use aoe and and synergise our builds to have different aoe damage spells and ultimates. Only people on teamspeak are allowed in the group and this is why we win because we stay together and use spells / ultimates at the right time. When we fight another organised raid that spreads out they can really hurt as we cant centre our damage but if you are a random group with no co-ordination you will just run in and die to both groups should it be a AOE group or an organised single target raid. You moan that these AOE damage groups kill you but it just because you are not a good unit where you play everyday and speak on a mic without having to type. Using ultimates like soul assualt and single target spells over barriers and group orientated spells (that require you to be close togethe)r what hope do you think you will have?

Ill say that on my side when I see Ad or Dc coming I get my gear ready to go out and fight and while running to them they're rolled by my sides zerg ballers before I get there. It's making it harder for me to find small skirmishes.

Because it is lame, pathetic and anti-fun. Been seeing more and more of them on Bloodthorn EU lately and it just removes the fun of playing or fighting against them entirely. You just zergball up, spam your heals to get ultimate, triple-stack barrier, immovable, rapid maneuver, and let the spamming commence.

Must be real fun playing with you guys I'm sure.

The PvP guild that I am in hasn't fallen this low yet that we're just zergballing up and farming noobs all evening long by just impulse and synergy spamming through everything.

Because in reality it doesn't require all that much skill...Before you say "But we use team speak and stick together" that doesn't change the fact it doesn't require that much skill.

how do i know this? Because there are entire zergs in Guild Wars 2 that does exactly what you're doing, and most of them aren't in Team Speak...In fact I could join your group tomorrow, and never step foot in your team speak and do exactly what you're doing.

All it takes me is the ability to move my character forward in a direction while spamming the 1 key and occasionally dropping my ultimate.

So lets put that dog to rest, Its not a mode that requires a lot of skill to accomplish, it simply requires bodies.

Next up lets examine the stupidity of the mechanic itself, Area of Effect abilities are designed around countering Large Groups of Players/Mobs, That is the entire purpose of that specific ability type. When the counter to Area of Effect Abilities is to stack close as possible to the other guy, that is a broken mechanic.

Finally there is very few damage abilities in this game that don't have a cap, They're mostly on slow casting siege...There is however Barrier, which has no effective cap (or its incredibly high) that can be stacked with other Barriers, and Health Debuffings have zero effect on Barrier....Stack that with Smart Heals, and the virtual immunity you have to AOE's and CC thanks to things like Rapid and Immovable and you can see the problem with the Tactic.

I'm not thrilled by the massive zergballs and it does get hard to hit some of the choo-choos that are basically living inside each other but I don't mind the smaller impulse-spams (12 or less). We target the smaller choo-choos and try to get them to lose some order so we can pick off the fat kids or the over-zealous. Our tactics could be looked at as cheesey as well I guess. We're quite slimy. And, frankly, quite unskilled. We pick our fights accordingly.. well we try.

Whatever people find fun... I see very few people with unquestionable individual skill out there. I sure see a lot of talk about why everyone else is crap though. I come up against some of those few occasionally and I know who they are because I never had a chance whether they were with their group or not.

OP, do what you want to do to have fun with your friends and guildies. Short of exploiting/cheating, you pay to play the game how you see fit.

There are always people that exist who will try and convince you to play how they want you to play. You'll even bump into people that try and tell you what time of day you should be playing. Somehow these people know what is best for you! Welcome to the internet.

Have fun and let the haters hate. It's their problem not yours.

well, its pretty (snip) annoying, when all your enemies do, is clump together, and spam their pathetic, gods forsaken pulsar the whole time:/ some of us like small skirmishes and 1v1s. I myself wont even charge into battle most of the time. ill wait for an enemy to walk out, then jump them, because I have a lot more fun in smaller fights than huge gigantic fights. but when all your enemies want to do, is clump together and do..... that... as ill call it... its frustraiting for some of us. If that's the way you want to play, cool. I don't like it, but im not going to try to be one of those "you cant do it" people.

Small skirmishes can be fun and I can only assume you're playing the game how you want to that results in your fun. That rocks! I enjoy 1v1 or rolling with a small group at times as well. But, in the end, taking on these 70-100 player blobs is awesome to in my opinion. *** flying everywhere! I don't feel the urge to tell someone how they should play or they aren't 'skilled' because they spam a different key then the next guy. I use all 10 of my skills and thank god for faster weapon swapping! My Purge key is wore out!

You pay the monthly fee, you determine what is fun for you. If Dev implements Arena's that is great news! Those peeps can have a pissing contest amongst themselves on who has 'more skill'. You think these forums are full of tears .....you haven't seen anything yet!

PvP is ALWAYS what you just said.... for the LOSERS. To the OP, you are 100% correct, it's unorganized nooblets that have no real direction from any experienced PvP lead that cry when they get steam rolled by a superior force, either in numbers or tactics. It matter not what "gimmick" an opponent uses against you if it works. And fighting dirty has always been a part of war from the beginning. If one group finds a more efficient way to kill another group, guess who wins and gets to write the history books.

I can't fault people for using tactics that work. However, I do think that PvP should be more about player skill and coordination instead of the current meta, which consists of mainly spamming one ability.

Sure there's damage shield stacking and heals, but that's pretty much it. My ideal PvP MMO would include tanks tanking, support supporting, RDPS tossing the massive damage, and MDPS ganking and taking care of the supply chain. We have enough of that here to keep me entertained for the moment, but I think we can all agree that the current large scale PVP tactics in ESO leaves a lot to be desired.

I was watching two enemy groups using this same tactic fight each other.

They both are packed tight, run into each other, both stand still in an area with the diameter of a dollar coin, and spam aoe till one of the groups falls over dead.

    Very exciting.

All you guys are doing is running around spamming heals to build up ultimates and running over everything using ults ( being one button wonders ). Because of the low area cap it's abusing the system as your safe until you meet a Zerg bigger than you, it's a numbers game atm.

    Two ways to combat it..

    1. Remove area cap
    2. Players who don't Zerg ball quit the game so the zergballers dont have anyone to kill.

Sadly I can see the second option happening before the first one.
    Patch 1.2.3 nerfed the game....
    Zergballing wrecked pvp......

Well it is simple. Spread raid group is showing skill and coordination and usualy single target attacks and skills and usualy suffer some losses which you can not avoid in large battle. And these fights are FUN even when you are the one on the ground.

Cyrodiil screams medieval sieges and combat here. Largre battles which takes some time before the dust settles down and victor is decided...

But your AOE groups are destroying this feeling completely.

It is like way too funny to say you are not on TS and you don't have negate magic slotted that is why we deserve to faceroll you in long 2 seconds.

In FPS games you can have the best team on the planet and random guys can still kill you or at least make severe damage to your group.

AOE damage should be nerfed so it does minor damage and impulse HP debuff removed completely. There is no justifucation for this debuff to be in the game.

Be men and fight! What kind of PvP fun is running around following crown icon and spam 3 skills as leader says?

I don't mind being killed, but these trains are that annoying that it is much more fun to play APB Reloaded and try to kill aimbotter.

TES games always were about single target combat. Other MMOs have AOE spell doing low damage or are channeled to prevent this kind of stuff.

Just use the Dark Magic ultimate to silence them if you're a sorc or find one to coordinate some defense with. If that is coordinated with others on the defensive side, then the train becomes silent long enough to make them use some strategy to survive. Not to mention the OP even gave some tips himself on what to do and what not to do. No coordination=faceroll. Sounds fair enough to me. Strategy against groups works the same as it does in 1 on 1. Know your strengths and their weaknesses. Beating one of these zergs is tough and if you don't see it coming, is obviously extremely frustrating. But given the choice between 100 of the best solo fighters and 100 of the most coordinated fighters and I'll take the latter every time.
