Daedra worship is a huge part of TES Lore, and even game play, in every TES game you have the option to serve a Daedra, or multiple Daedra, for a period of time or a few quest lines.
I think perhaps in ESO the opportunity is there to choose a permanent patron, and do multiple quest-lines, story-lines, and even have a trait tree related to your Daedric, or Aedric patron. There is a lot of room for improvement here in ESO for these mechanics, whereas there really wasn't in the main TES games.
