what do you all think of new races or motifs (yes, yes I know that have bugs to fix but just curious to see what people think) so lets keep thread on topic and positive

was thinking.....

race: sea elves, daedric, goblin I know these are evil races....though perhaps sea elves have kinder souled elves...but maybe can offer another type of faction those being the evil races? maybe as an unlock after vet1 through 12 levels.

motifs: well can only really think of sea elves and dwarven right now
When asked what he would do for a Klondike bar. Grand Moff Tarkin said "why I would blow up Alderaan."

Daedric race would be pretty awesome. New motif I would like to see is Dwarven.

    Akaviri for certain.
    Miss that style from Oblivion.

As long as they call the dwarves the Dwemer.

I wouldn't mind seeing other species of the Khajiit. Or the Imga (even if they aren't a player race).

I do not want new playable races (honestly none of them would fit the factions we have).

I definitely think there should be new motifs based on non-playable races though. Maormer, Akaviri, Yokudan, Goblin, etc. Maybe even some motifs for more outlandish armor styles like frost/storm/fire atronach armor.

Playable races? No. You can't change TES lore.

    Crafting motifs? Probably already planned.

    New motifs: yes.

New playable races: no. They're still using the Elder Scrolls name, and half of the ideas for playable races are just so lore-breaking it hurts (Dwemer. Really?).

Daedra could be a playable race without breaking lore to severely.

Sure. If Daedra weren't bound to their specific prince and plane of Oblivion unless summoned into Nirn, and if when summoned they weren't bound by extremely tight parameters, then yes. They wouldn't break lore.

However, since none of those things are true, they would break lore. I don't care if it's "severe" or not. It goes against the established lore, which has now been in place for two decades.

The only possible race I could think of that can be written into the story is that you came to Tamriel from one of the other continents, and no one bothered to write about your race in history. That could possibly keep lore.

Yea, your faction is the "Molag Bal" Faction. there fixed. =)

To win the game you have to gank all the players entering the Molag Bal encounter before they annihilate your martialy inept deadric prince by running in circles with a healing staff.

MAYBE with an expansion that would introduce a new faction, which would be EVIL! But at present I think we have plenty of races and factions.

The game already breaks lore with the multi race allowance for each faction. So this is an acceptable break in lore?

I mean my main character is Imperial and I am aligned with the Aldmeri Dominion. Completely against the lore.

Your character is an Imperial who rejected the daedra-worship going on in Cyrodiil, and the Elder Scroll series has always allowed characters of any race to be part of any faction. You can find NPCs of all races in all factions as well.

If lore needs to be strictly followed then Akaviri would be an acceptable race. But I am sure for faction balance, there would need to be at least 2 other races so that there is fair distribution between the factions for game purposes.

I am trying to remember where and if I have seen this in game. Where is located an NPC for AD that is not Altmer, Bosmer or Khajiit?

The reason individual players choices to fight for different factions doesn't break lore is because the Vestige's race is not recorded history. The addition of an entirely new race in Tamriel would be lore breaking because it would be hard to explain how this race did not end up in the history books during the later TES years.

Off the top of my head, there's a Dunmer in... Woodhearth? I'm pretty sure it's Woodhearth.

Anyway, he's a Dunmer who believes he's actually a Khajiit.
    Spoiler
At the end of the quest, he ends up an Argonian

No it doesn't. Every TES game has had members of every race living in every province. Sure, the bulk of the population in the Aldmeri Dominion will be made up of altmer, bosmer, and khajiit (with each being predominantly found in their own homelands), but you'll also find citizens who are nords, bretons, dunmer, imperials, redguards, orcs, and argonians. The same goes for the other factions. It would be far more lore-breaking to have only altmer, bosmer, and khajiit in the AD.

As far as new playable races being lore-breaking, there are a couple that could be done without any lore issues. Sea elves are still around in this time period, and could easily be a playable race. The akaviri just recently invaded and were forced back (and we know through lore from previous games in the series that some of them stayed hidden in Tamriel), so they could potentially be a playable race. The imga are another possibility for a playable race that wouldn't be lore-breaking.

Now I'm not necessarily saying any of these are good ideas (fitting them in the existing factions could be problematic - although the imga would certainly side with the AD), but none of them would be lore-breaking.

There is an Argonian settlement in Grahtwood between Haven & Southpoint

    Potential Spoiler:

You also encounter an Orc or 2 that wish to defect to the dominion
