Nightblade nerfed and DK/Sorc buffed?!

Not for nothing but I was to assume over the next few patchs or so Nightblades would be getting buffs. Not nerfs... And again over said patchs DKs were going to be scaled down a bit yet they are being buffed yet again... Let me know if im reading something wrong here but this is what it looks like to me.

    Yea.

Only they also stealth nerfed templars.

Our most useful ultimate was nerfed from 8.5 seconds down to 4 seconds.

And supposedly this patch is meant to buff templars. Really isn't. Minor dps increase for such a severe healing/defense nerf isn't my kind of trade off considering the class will still suck overall for dps compared to sorc/dk.

So yea, par for the course. Buff dk/sor. Nerf NB/Templar, lie about it in the patch notes.

Pretty much identical to what happened in the last major update (1.1 crags).

I don't know, I play a NB and having to deal with these flaws in my class have become somewhat tiring. I'm just going to see how these changed play out, if its really bad, I might just drop my Nightblade altogether, a shame really...

dropping siphoning strikes from 4% to 3% restored isn't a huge nerf. I could see how they thought it needed it. With it on I basically never ran out of magicka or stamina

I have been obstinate in continuing to play my broken NB class in the hopes that it would be address soon and most likely in this patch. I built a more stealthy build to survive VR leveling. Reading these patch notes about how they have now nerf'd that build without buffing anything else is very disheartening. I wanted this game to succeed, bottlenecking the population into two
classes is going to kill this game and isn't worth a reroll or a continued subscription.

    •Assassination
•Assassin’s Blade: This ability’s visual effects are now easier to see.
•Incapacitate (Haste morph): This ability now increases heavy attack damage.
•Master Assassin: This passive ability now increases spell power in addition to weapon power. Its stun duration increase has also been added to the tooltip.
•Reaper’s Mark (Mark Target morph): This ability’s weapon and spell damage buff no longer stacks with itself – the duration of the damage buff will now just refresh upon each kill.

    •Shadow
•Path of Darkness: This ability can now be seen by all other player characters. Also fixed an issue where it was ticking more times than intended on a target.
•Refreshing Path: This ability will now heal your allies, and the healing done has been slightly increased.
•Refreshing Shadows: This passive ability is now always active, and no longer requires you to use another ability.
•Shadow Cloak: This ability can now be cast when you have less than 35% of your magicka. Additionally, using this ability while a monster is taunted will now cause it to attack a different target.

    •Siphoning
•Leeching Strikes (Siphoning Strikes morph): The tooltip for this ability now shows the correct percentage of health recovery.
•Magicka Flood: This ability now correctly increases your maximum magicka.
•Siphoning Strikes: This ability now restores slightly less resources, and will no longer desync your resource bars upon use.
•Soul Siphon (Soul Shred morph): Edited the tooltip for this ability so it’s more consistent with all other tooltips, and fixed an issue so the upgrade tooltip now states that it does less damage than the base ability.
•Strife: Fixed an issue where the red glow from this ability would last longer than intended.

So lets get this straight. A visual effect change wooo... A heavy attack dmg increase when a duel wield build doesn't use heavy attack... great thinking dev's. Master Assassin spell increase. The only viable increase we got. We are asking for dmg increases and they up the healing... Cause a majority of players go healing on NB's... Again WTG Devs. Straight Nerf on Siphoning Strikes... They have no issues with "fixing" skills to nerf our damage tho.

THIS is a major nerf. all the flame staff stuff going on with dk is because of the buffs they get from this and the passives. now that they nerfed the passives to only effect ardent flame as well as nefing the slottedgiving to all flame. with this change dk fire mage will be doing same damage as any class with firestaff. they are nerfing a particular op build that was an oversite because everyone elses class lines only effect the line its-self. they cant completely nerf dk as a whole that is silly. Im templar not dk, im looking for balance not punishment.

they are fixing a lot of things that are not working properly, its not a patch just meant to buff everyone. first fix all the things that simply dont work then keep adding stuff. Im dissapointed that half the templar fixes are are around the skill puncturing sweeps because it think it is terrible outside pve, but one step at a time guys; they are addressing a lot of broken mechanics which should be the first focus in my opinion.

Enjoy, I tell it like I see it, not my problem that you don't "like" something I said. And where exactly is my lie or my insult? 1.2.3 didn't nerf NB's it's an overall buff, and certainly a needed FIX. DK got a balance pass not a buff, and the changes were VERY minor.

The ongoing problem is not that one class needs to be nerfed over another. They all need to brought into balance. I personally hate that they advertise you can play any class in any style you want, which is true if you plan to play casters or healers all around. I came to this game to play a duel weapon NB, but low and behold Stam builds suck big hairy ones. So the developers need to look at the real problem is bringing the stats into balance so people actually play in all forms as they advertise with equality and not be shunned out of a trial because they are on build or another. All in all I think the false advertised and should restate that to play this game all must be a caster, unless you plan on playing a tank and even then you need to be part caster.

I'm not sure the Sorc deserves all these buffs, but it looks like they're trying to fix the Nightblade class, maybe you should just revise your build and try it out. Lord knows as a templar I've had to do that enough to never have any cash.

No point in arguing with this type of crowd Odineous. They blame their character's issues on some class abilities (which are getting fixed) and stamina/weapon skills (which have nothing to do with class).

With NBs now topping single target DPS lists, it's fundamentally not a class issue. It's a weapon, especially melee weapon, issue.

I was a tad disapointed that there hasnt been a bit more for us NBs, but the increase to spell power on the assisin passive will help the NB LA Resto staffers, with increase to heavy attack from incapacitate I can see some potential if the damage increase is worth the spell slot for it.

Plus stamina increase not to bad for med builds.

I will certainly try out refreshing path see if it does become usefull if not when I respec I will prob save a few points and not get that again.

That nerf to DKs, I dont play a DK so maybe some DKs can let us know what happens, will the fire damage destro staff losing some damage from molten whip make much difference.

In the end i guess it is frustrating that classes that are already more powerfull than us NB are getting alot more attention and more damage increases and we seem to get left on the side lines. Dont shout I dont play a templar or Sorc either so I have no idea, maybe its just me but I so often see Sorcs and DKs ripping through easily and although yes I can do it it takes me longer :)

I guess we are going to have just suck it and see where this gets us, wait for next set of patches in 1.3 to see what the Devs have in store.

On a positive note there seems to be alot in this update, and I look forward playing more.

Instead of pointing out dmg increases and nerfs without backing any of your posts, then attacking me try posting proof. You say NBs got a overall buff but we did not and I linked patch notes and then BOLDED the changes. NBs are getting nerfed yet again with 1 minor increase and a bunch of bug fixes that nerf us even further. DKs took big increases with 1 nerf to firestaff. That's it. Sorcs got an all around buff. All I backed up with proof from patch notes and bolded for the slow. So don't attack me on my thread without backing any of your false information.

@williams226 yes, the fire damage thing is a bigger deal than it looks

    And yes, EU server tomorrow

My medium armour melee weapon stamina build DK struggles just as much as any NB does. These things really are not class issues. The medium armour change this patch is a small step in the right direction though.

OK not going to call you stupid, but misinformed is better about DK:

    1. Molten Whip is a huge nerf although a needed one. That gave 5% increase across the board for all flame attacks heavy and light included.

Now, DK's aren't getting a free 5% increase in DPS simply for using a fire staff. Yes standard is still OP, but 5% wasn't making a big difference there.

That morph is pretty much useless now, which is why they buffed the other morph of lava whip, giving you a reason to actually have that on your bar now for DPS instead of just the passive.

    2. Fiery grip was being used as a perma taunt for bosses, it was completely OP vs other taunts. That means you can't overtaunt another person's taunt with a DK skill anymore, pretty important.

    3. Choking talons was bugged, you got charged 200% intended cost, how is this a buff? Most people use burning talons anyway since it did fire damage and we got a free 5% fire damage increase....

    4. Burning talons ticks were nerfed. Not buffed.

    5. Draconic leap was a weird skill that you needed to be 6-7 meters away before using. As an ultimate it was unwieldy at best. They simply made an ultimate be usable at melee range for a melee fighter.

    6. Igneous shield used to give you armor, now gives you +heals. Uhhhhh ok great +heals for a DK.

Tl;dr really weigh the fun you have in game vs the business practices you are supporting.
