Should we have a "Disagree" button to go along with Insightful, Agree, Awesome, and LOL?

There is a thread already on this.

Not only did the disagree button not work, but it just caused trolling and less communication.

People are not even mature enough to use the LOL correctly.

LOL works just fine. It is easy to tell when that is being used as the disagree button.

Disagree. They're nearly always abused, and fanboys would just use them to attack haters, and vice versa.

I disagree with your idea/post, and I will let you know that by replying to you.

I don't think we need a disagree button. I think the buttons are meant to say 'props to you, I enjoyed your post because...' I think disagree would breed too much negativity in threads (as if there isn't enough already). This isn't an upvote/downvote system. It just a little 'thanks for the post' badge, and should stay positive.

The disagree button is used to great effect on forums for games which the real developers actually communicate with players.

On my phone right now, so I can't do that. If I could, I'd give you an insightful. ;)

While i can understand why people want this and i also did so at one point , i found the reason that was given to me , good enough for why it is was removed and why it is better to not have one.

People can agree without having to add anything to a post , but if they are going to disagree , it would be better they do so with a new post giving the reason and how so.

No, but this forum does, that was his point. On other mmo forums, the developers actually post. The green posts here aren't developers. They're mods and community managers.

Back to a disagree button for a second.

I was under the impression that people took to using the LOL button for disagree. Like LOL that is dumb.

The problem with just having agree is that you do not get clear feedback for your idea, you only get reinforcement. That leads to stagnant thinking and does not challenge you to better express your views or consider what others think.

    (gets ready for the LOLs)

Just figured it out. I can't mouse over on my phone, but clicking on an open space in the comment does the trick.

Personally I find clicking "LOL" on an offensive post has basically the same effect. Otherwise, I consider actually posting a well-thought reply to be the appropriate equivalent to "disagree."

Unless they are trolls. Then you just ignore them until they get jaded with no one paying attention to them and go away.

sure, why not? why not add even more emotes like 'eye roll' 'pat on the back' 'you tell em!', 'you are a forum god' and 'calm down, have a cookie'. mores the better and would add a bit of fun for those inclined to participate

They'll never do it. "Disagreeing" would be seen as being disrespectful. They don't allow that, apparently. Unless ofcourse, you're disrespecting someone who is negative towards ESO. Then you can pretty much say whatever you want.

I think it's not needed. I've seen two types of disagreement on these forums:

    - When the post is apparently serious but it's obviously trolling (or stupid) = Lol

    - When the post could be funny but it's trolling = Insightful

I never got that. If I don't agree with someone, I just voice my opinion. Giving them "props" is hardly an effective way of conveying your views. Not to mention it's passive aggressive as ***.

If you disagree, then it's only manners to say why.
A disagree button allows people to disagree and not say why, this is rude.
Ergo no disagree button, quote the person and say why you disagree, most of us don't bite. >:)

Nah, just lazy; let's use a handy example:

If someone with whom you're speaking face-to-face makes a point, and you say, "I disagree," that person will reasonably expect you to expound upon your reason for disagreement, and if you say nothing then you'll look like a dunce.

However, if you say, "I agree," then nothing more need be said.

I shouldn't be allowed to click an agree or yes button if there isn't a no button. This is a troll tactic of companies to minimize negative communication and try to "kid down" the environment. You can thank Facebook for this model.

I say anything I am allowed to express Yes, i should be allowed to express NO.
