If you disagree you should explain why, after all it is a discussion board.
You can agree without having something to add to a discussion see other boards with their topics full of +1 and /signed, also you can find something funny/awesome/insightful without something to add to the discussion.

If you just disagree, you really should have something to add.

Why is agreeing somehow more valid than disagreeing? I could just have clicked disagree on your post and not post this.

It was meant to be a joke, as the OP was requesting a disagree option.... but it went over your head or just wasn't funny... either way I won't lose sleep over it, neither should you :p

It isn't of course and I totally agree that there should be an option.

But this forum like so many seeks to deter disagreement whenever possible so the absence of such a button is no surprise, so someone is allowed to post utter garbage and people can agree with it (and thus boost the poster's ego and give a false sense of 'community' view) while those who don't agree with the proposition don't have the option to flag their views in the same summary way.

Likewise, there should be an opposite of 'awesome' .. 'garbage' springs to mind as an alternative to the cruder 4-letter word ending it 'p' .. but we'll never see that, either.

Only independent forums where group hugs are the order of the day have systems which allow both positive and negative feedback. IIRC Turbine once put in place something like this a very long time ago, they ditched it because it didn't align with corporate view "everything is the garden's rosy".

I, for one, think it's nice to be able to comment without the fear of seeing 2 Agrees and 100 Disagrees.

I think it's great on these forums that you have to explain why you disagree with a post, or say nothing at all. At worst, think of it as an anti-troll mechanism.

disagreeing is as valid as agreeing.

Still if someone echoes exactly your opinion, there is not much to say except, yes thats what i am thinking too.

If you disagree on the other hand, you could say i disagree with your opinion and dont want to discuss this matter.
Thats perfectly valid, but has no place on a discussion board.

If you want to discuss your opinion vs. his, you should explain why and how you disagree.

Actually it did have a disagree button back during beta but was removed after one of the beta weekends.

I agree, just seeing that people disagree can be off-putting, at the moment they would have to post and this means they say why they disagree. That said, sometimes saying why you disagree opens up a can of worms, and gets the thread closed. Ideally there would be some middle option, but at the moment that would be PMing them, which can open that can of worms again (only in a more personal manner(ouch))

    Because that's the ultimate passive-aggressive anti-social way to go about a discussion/argument.

Not having a "thumbs down" button made me leave Facebook. All those "thumbs up" leave a completely false impression sometimes. So yes, give us an option to "disagree" (right now people seem to use the LOL button as a substitute).

In a forum where everyone is seeking a fight whenever and wherever? Where everyone actively looks for things to disagree with.

Agreeing is more valid than disagreeing (as a button) because disagreeing creates discussions, you dont need to discuss with someone WHY you are agreeing with them, but on the other than you discuss why you disagree with them.
DIsagree button is a terrible idea.

    I disagree.

Forums are usually not the most "friendly" environments as is - having a disagree button certainly won't help to make it any better.

    @Chomag‌
I believe people will tend to disagree more if they can just press a "disagree-button" - It's easy and convenient, and doesn't require much thought.

If you don't like a thread, just don't post on it - there is no-one waiting for you to comment on it one way or the other.

The feature did exist for a very short period during during the weekends I was beta testing but it was removed, probably because people were abusing it and just going onto every thread they didn't like and clicking the button and not commenting. It's not as if agree/disagree are totted up by the devs as suggestions for the game.

If you want to disagree with something, make a post and disagree in a polite and respectful manner.
