The core issues are that classes are not fully balanced and that stamina builds are not fully competitive.
They are currently balancing the classes. Once that is done they can work on stam/mana-balance and PvE balance (against a common baseline of classskills to test with).
    One step at a time.

I am sure the bulk of problems will be overcome within the first 6 months after launch.

Interesting ideas, OP. My own proposed solution would be to allow one other player in such instances (without disallowing solo play for those who want it), scaling up the difficulty of the boss and associated mobs accordingly.

Other MMOs have done this in the past, so the algorithm is pretty straightforward.

I suggested something similar once before. A 1-to-5 difficulty slider that only applies to forced-solo content:

1 = 33% boss health, 33% normal boss damage, 33% normal XP, white vendor trash reward.
2 = 66% boss health, 66% normal boss damage, 66% normal XP, crappy green item that is a hair better than vendor trash.
3 = regular boss health and boss damage, regular XP, blue item reward.
4 = 150% boss health, 150% normal boss damage, 150% normal XP, purple item reward.
5 = 200% boss health, 200% normal boss damage, 200% normal XP, gold item reward.

It would reward you for completing a tougher fight while still not blocking you from progressing. I also think the above would be fairly easy to code. Look at difficulty slider, multiply 3 stats by a number, change one loot table.

This is assuming they are set on these being forced-solo. Grouping with someone else who has not completed the quest would be good, too. I would be opposed to bringing in a VR12 buddy to take down Lyris Doppelganger, but two Level 33 characters who are stuck on Lyris Doppelganger being allowed to team up? That is cool.

I'm curious what build people think is impossible to beat some main storyline bosses with. I'm now a V1 Templar (primary focus healing with some points in Aedric Spear and Dawns Wrath for some attacks) who also became a vampire early on and was able to defeat every boss in the game without a glitch or assistance. Instead of whining, learn the damn fights. If you can't figure out good techniques on your own, ask for help in the forums or in zone chat. There are plenty of techniques out there for beating every boss in the game with any build.

I like this idea a lot. Especially since going through the Doshia Fighter's Guild quest again on some alts and finding a fight that was once really tense and exciting (and only beatable once you've figured out the mechanic) to have been nerfed down to the point where I could kill her before she even turned into a harvester.

Being able to choose which difficulty to fight the boss at (and having rewards scale appropriately) would allow you to get past bosses who are otherwise nearly impossible for your build to beat, while also allowing you to have a challenge if you're finding things too easy.

I didnt have any problems defeating story lines bosses with my character, and I am a medium armor/bow NB.
In the other hand ...I was in reapers march and I had to kill a regular (not boss) veteran 10 storm atronach for a random quest. He was inmune to CC, he could see me even in stealh/invi , and he used a snare on me (wich I couldnt remove with Dark cloak) and ...he was inmune to all my DoT effects, you can Imagine what happened next. Thank god, a helpfull soul in the zone chat decided to join me and he help me deafeat the terrible (and regular) monster.

That is kinda too much nerf if one can kill it before she turns. This is kinda must have and must learn fight in the game. There will be much more harvesters later in the game and if one has no idea what to do and not to do on those fights they are screwed.

Agreed. I'm an altaholic with 16 alts who have gone through that fight. 6 or 7 of them were pre-nerf, and the rest were post-nerf. All of the pre-nerf fights were challenging. None of the post-nerf fights were. In 2 cases post-nerf I killed her before she even got to cast any spells or anything, let alone transform. I'm lucky that I learned the techniques and mechanics pre-nerf.

Most bosses are beatable with effort, certainly up to MB anyway... The pace steps up in VR though and I have found 3 so far in the storyline quests that I have been forced to group to overcome.

Mainly the ones with lazy design - i.e. They are made 'tough' by being immune to class abilities, can see through invisibility potions or shadow cloaks, hit through blocks etc. willing to bet they all come from the same designer late on a friday at beer o'clock.

Personally I like figuring out a mechanic and a strategy to beat it but when the mechanic is 'ignores ESO mechanics' I get bored fast... For those times some way to bypass them would be just fine by me.

Maybe you should be able to earn credits per boss fight completed solo, when you have so many you can turn them in for a 'burn down a boss for free' tickets for any boss but something like MB. If you waste them you won't get more but they could get you past the occasional fight that just stumps you & your chosen build.

The buff could stack each time you wipe on the boss.

Indeed. In a single-player TES game, we can solo the entire game. In ESO, the main story is solo-only.

So if we wanted solo-only, why on earth would we pay a monthly subscription, when we can pick up any prior TES release and play it solo all the way through, subscription-free?

    Guys. Really.
I play my 4th toon now through the whole content, meaning I did all guildline and main story quests in different stages of patching.
First: solo bosses have been ALREADY made as easy as anything. Doshia is a breeze now, any questmob you encounter in the normal content is hitting harder. 3 balls arent enough now to fully restore her health. Harvester in general have been made TONS easier than they used to be. They do much less damage and get healed a lot less than before.
Second: Dont be so blind when it comes to strategy and use of skills. You CANNOT GO LEVEL 1-50 WITH ALL THE SAME SKILLS on your quickbar. Period.
Third: this is not neccessarily a l2p issue but for pretty lots of ppl here I cannot get rid of that picture in my mind of that dog with that bone in his mouth, trying to get through that door. Bumping 100s of times... and 100 more.

Something more constructive: Molag Bal can be pretty much killed by ANY class/armor setup with just ONE DoT and a healing staff. You will have it a lil easier if you have skilled some points in healing staff as you can keep Mutagen up on youself or drop a healing circle on the ground. The rest of the fight is ONLY movement and light/heavy staff attacks. Thats pretty much all the secret you will need to know about the last and greatest threat of Tamriel.

@GreySix‌ you are missing one point maybe - if you mind taking this into your consideration.
Solo Bosses are by no means hard anymore. They used to be. Yes. They are no more. Lotsa ppl here are discussing based on old information. Maybe make a toon and play to Level 20 just that you see what a cakewalk all those solo bosses are right now. Then come discuss again.
