This game needs speech/chat bubbles!

Elder Scrolls Online is an MMO, what is a core part of an MMO? The player interactions. Half the fun in any MMO is the online interactions between players while the other half lies in gameplay. In my opinion the gameplay in ESO is fine, but there is BARELY any player interaction, it is terrible. I'm only getting half my money's worth out of this game.

When I play this game, I go up to strangers and say "Hi" in all chat, hoping to either quest with them, or make a new friend (not to spam, not to sell stuff, just to socialize and rightfully so as this is an ONLINE game. 9/10 they ignore me, and go about doing their own thing, not even say "hi" back. I even try whispering and still sometimes don't get responses. Why bother make this an MMO if players don't even interact with each other? ESO might as well be a single player game then!

There could be two reasons to why I have to deal with being constantly ignored when trying to socialize and enjoy the ONLINE aspect of this game.

1. The community is antisocial (if people don't like socializing with other players, that's fine. But if that's the way they are, then they shouldn't play an MMO, where socializing with other players is what makes MMOs what they are. They should go play single player games instead).
2. The players I come across can't see the all chat, or are too preoccupied to read the all chat or whispers. If this is the case, having a bubble with the text that I say, appear on the screen above my character will get their attention. Also it will let them know who is saying it, and where I am. It will allow for conversations to flow more naturally and more fluent.

The lack of chat bubbles has damaged our community and it's very very hard to interact with other players in this game. Without chat bubbles, player interaction in this game is basically dead. Without player interaction, this game isn't an MMO. And without the MMO aspect of this game, it's just a single player game.

Half the fun in this game is killed due to the fact that I can't even talk to other players most of the time. This game needs chat bubbles or else half the fun factor is dead, there is no ONLINE aspect to elder scrolls ONLINE, if people can't even talk to one another without being ingnored most of the time.

Is there anyway to get Zenimax's attention and get them to add chat Bubbles to this game, there is no reason not include them. Almost every MMO has chat bubbles and is great for keeping the community alive and social. This MMO (ESO) doesn't have chat bubbles and the social player interactions in this game are almost none existent (unless you manage to get into a guild, or talk in zone chat). What ever happened to the classic MMO experience of exploring, bumping into another player, and making a new friend?

ESO needs chat bubbles.

Before GW2 I would've said no don't bother but after playing GW2 I realized how something so minuscule as chat bubbles help open the doors to greater socialization for MMO's.

The unfortunate and awkward truth, at least for me, is that 90% of everything I see in local or zone chat is complete garbage or sales pitches for materials and motifs... the last thing I need is for that crap to clutter up my view of the game - and that view is one of the almost universally agreed-upon high points of ESO. Splatter "chat" all over that, and man... no good can come from that, in my view.

I could *perhaps* see it as an optional thing if it had chat-box like filtering, so that I could only see bubbles for, say, an RP guild I'm in, or my own Group, and nothing else. At least the hope would be I wouldn't be subjected to as much trash... but there's really no assurance... I doubt I'd use it at all.

If there were an option to toggle them on and off I wouldn't object. I'd have them turned off because I can't stand them cluttering my screen. But if other people want them that's fine with me.

This has been discussed and I believe ZOS have stated they have it working in the dev version of the game and they are looking into getting it added!

Add ons are not viable options as the API does not support it!

As others have said having it be filtered to only allow pop ups for chat you care about is a great way to solve any concerns that people have around not wanting it on.

This is a needed interaction point and the nay sayers are people who simply do not get MMOs!

The Champion System should have rewarded Champion Points based off of achievements and feats earned through excelling at end game content not grinding your life away vs mobs in order to stay competitive. This system is uncreative and is a great example of extremely lazy system design. Yes, you should be embarrassed

If it had an easy show/hide button like the chat window and came with all the same options. Along with being able to set it to only show up in towns. I wouldn't mind it as a later addition.

How many people are even talking to each other in this game? Look at the zone chat for a while. Seriously, look at it! How many of the people are having a discussion? Talking about something? Filling the chat bar?

    Yeah... right...

Do you honestly think that kind of activity would "clog up your screen" or whatever kind of silly argument you got? A few people spouting LFG (probably not even near you), a few people selling (probably not even near you), a few people trying to gather the few players that are on the map for a dolmen (probably not even near you).

And that's just PvE. Lets look at PvP shall we?

Take any battle, any battle at all with 50v50 and look at the chat bar. Oooooh how its positivly filled with people talking every 0.2 second with 50 letter sentences! Yeah... Look real close. No one is talking. A few maybe say LFG but they are surprisingly enough just like in the above PvE example probably nowhere near you.

I would be surprised if you saw even a single chat bubble in 10 minutes of gameplay in ESO.

Oh the shock and horror if people within 20m would actually talk to each other if/when ZOS implement speech bubbles. Imagine if this cant be turned off!

It would be like sitting at a crowded McDonalds and hearing what other people say at the table next to you! WHAT?! Completely unrealistic, that's like comic book world. Our modern realistic world is one where we only hear that annoying guy across town yelling "SANDWICHES FOR SALE, 1 DOLLAR EACH!" every god damn minute.

I'm perfectly fine with optional chat bubbles. I'll keep them turned off because I think they look terrible and they'd absolutely destroy my immersion (same reason why I don't use any of the combat UI addons). I can understand why some people would like them, though, so I'm perfectly fine with having them in the game as long as they're optional (which I believe is what ZOS is planning on).

Exactly. There's a reason why I've never played any other MMOs, and that reason is that every one I've seen gameplay footage for looked horribly cartoonish. Things like chat bubbles and numbers appearing on the screen are huge parts of that cartoony impression.

That is preconception, not what it actually is. You relate speech bubbles to cartoons, hence it become "cartoonish".

But in reality, speech bubbles are the only way to give words to an object that can not speak. Be it a character in a magazine or a character on your computer screen. You dont see cartoons on TV using speech bubbles (well, not normally anyway) because they can do something the magazine and your game character cant - speak.

When games are so damn advanced that a player characters mouth will move when you talk over the built in VOIP and the other players near him hear what he say then and only then will I agree that speech bubbles are obsolete and "cartoonish".

But in our current situations, its a necessary evil to achieve proper communication.

A cartoon magazine without speech bubbles for example would look ***. It wouldnt work as magazine. It would be broken, incomprehensible.

    Just like ESO is.
