I went into wildstar without a concern for housing... until i got addicted to it on the level of Sims creations.

If you like housing I suggest you try wildstar as I dont see ESO housing to be anywhere near as good

Hearthfire for Skyrim was just 3 cookie cutter houses. Very bland imo.

I can look past the hideous skin of Wildstar enough to see the creativeness and functionality of their housing system. Nicely done. The crazy stuff fits that game. Maybe not so much for ESO though.

There are a couple things I think would work better in ESO's case and the creator of that video touched on some.

In ESO's world I would like to be able to see and knock on someones house. If they're home they get a notification and can invite them in. If not, well, nobody answers. Owner should also have the ability to put a sign out to go away if they don't want to be disturbed (blocks notification).

I would gladly sacrifice some stuff to have everybody's house be part of the world.

Meh housing. The only housing I cared was Everquest 2 because you could build your own table chair etc.
Damn my wife made tons of money in woodworking sellings high house stuff. And all the pets you gathered (catch them all) you could just put them in your house like a sort of grand ménagerie, and you could win stuff like wall decoration in their cards game.
And all was resizable on the fly. Yes. Even mini pets. :D
Ah and you could visit others home if set on free visit.

Overall , wildstar really looks a much more complete game than ESO , only thing left to see is how good are its raids and so on.

Which is what it was set out to do since the start.

Still , i wont be playing wildstars , im not that young anymore , i dont want to spend my whole day beating down on one dungeon raid just to get some drops that most of the are not even something i could use anyway.

Im trying to stick with ESO , since they atleast started with a different proposition than wildstars and their hardcore raiding , still zen has been making it difficult.

I hope we don't have to wait 2 years for ESO housing. I think the first player housing in an MMORPG was "The Realm" which was about 1992, then UO (my guild had a 40 player housing "city" complete with crafting halls, towers etc.). Next best player housing for me was EQ2 with the ability to furnish/decorate either from player made items or from loot drops. Of course they had a good cash cow by selling (real money) player islands where you literally designed and built from scratch.

I left RIFT before they implemented their housing and unfortunately haven't found a game since that lived up to its player housing promises. Considering player housing has been around over 22 years and a LOT of players want it, I don't understand why developers can't implement this into their game design from day 1 on the drawing board in the 21st century.

Mortal Online has player/guild housing (yes you can destroy it), but is also full loot pvp... SO when you die you lose EVERYTHING.. It also has mounted combat. The only down fall, you can only play in first person.

SWG housing will be the best MMO housing that I'll ever experience, not sure where the OP saw a post 2nd year comment, but in general, I'd imagine it'd be better than what SWTOR is trying to pull on its players haha.

    Nice Troll Post,

its about Housing, and the fact Wildstar got it from Release is a shame for ESO.

And now ZOS saying Housing....meh, maybe in 2 Years is yet another ***-Move from ZOS.

    Sigh

Wildstar marketed that they would have player housing in the game.

ESO did not. Player housing is even something they just lately starting to work on. Zenimax have never said housing will be in the game from start, or even confirmed it will be in game at all.

    Now they have.

Thats why this thread is a bit wierd.

Well Zenimax has already said its likely to be after the 2nd anniversary before we see player housing (personally I think that's way too late). I've just watched a video of the player housing in Wildstar and OMG ! All I can say is ESO's player housing had better be good if this is the standards other MMO's are setting. (RIFT did it great, Wildstar now better)

Well Zenimax, you got 2 years to sort out player housing and it'd better be AAA rating quality. I'm talking Skyrim epic levels of housing. The gauntlet has been thrown down, zeni... don't let us down ! ! !

    ;)

I can't stop laughing at how horrible the UI looks in that video. Who ever is playing this let me know when you run into Yacko, Wacko, and Dot during your adventuring.

hmm can build a real house faster than that.

Depends where you live, in Britian it would probably take eighteen months to get planning permission. Then you have to wait for inspectors at various points, to make sure it's up to regulation, and delays in supplies turning up.

Of course the actual building the house would go much quicker. Just the red tape.

Yeah, but you don't want a house put up TOO quick. I've worked on production-line houses in a boom town; the contractors want to cut corners and get away with whatever they can as quickly as possible. I bet some of those houses were no good after 5 years - leaks, shoddy roof, crappy siding jobs. I hated construction work for that; I was taught to do things right. But doing things right takes time, and time is money, friend.

Frankly, I don't remember Zen saying "two years". They didn't GIVE a time frame, really, they just wanted to tell us that they're working on trying to get it RIGHT, so we shouldn't expect it in the next patch or two, or even three. It was the forum-goers who seem to have jumped to the conclusion of "two years"; the longest projection I'd seen before this was maybe a year and a half ... and I'd tell you lot it'd take that long, too, even if I knew it was going to take half that time!

Hasn't it been just over two years and they have just released/about to release their housing expansion.

When I saw that interview it made me realize that the PC release of this game was just a giant paid Beta for the console release.

    Frankly I'm a little insulted.

Wildstar is far more polished than this game, and the only reason why I'm not playing it right now is that the art style is a deal breaker for me... but the more I play ESO with all of its problems, the more I wish for a more polished game, and the more likely I'm going to end up playing it.
