"Itemization – we’ll add gear that’s harder to acquire but more worthwhile. We're looking at gear that will make others envious when you’re wearing or wielding it—both in appearance and in stat boosts. To do this, we’ll adjust soft caps so that they don't kick in quite as quickly. We have to be very careful about how much we adjust numbers, because the greater the variance, the more people can hurt their intended builds." The Road Ahead

Proof Post forums.elderscrollsonline.com/discussion/104070/proof-dropped-gear-crafted-by-huge-difference/p1

Another Post which is related too the same topic
http://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/discussion/104070/proof-dropped-gear-crafted-by-huge-difference/p1

I'm a crafter one of biggest reasons I played the game was because gear is going too be craft able and be slightly better then droped gear when did this change?!?!

I love the this system don't change it!! It's better off too make 1 time use schematics drop so the CRAFTERS can craft them!! DONT CHANGE IT!!

Another thing would be too let crafters create sets! So say a knowledge books, like motiefs they would let us make completely customizable set bounces! Please don't change what you have created! Also these "schematics" would only drop for chest that appear after the death of the boss

Refined Idea
Allow crafters too mix and match set bounces by learning "schematics" or lost "techniques" that would let them craft many different set bounces. These "techniques" would drop at the end of raids after the last boss is dead and could only be looted from the chest the spawned when he died. This would allow crafters too be viable in endgame content, help the economy boom, and it would be something that bots wouldn't be able too directly get the hands on without running the raids themselves.

Example: Add the 3 peace set bounce Willows Path and the 5 Peace Set bounce of Magnus Gift on all the same amour peaces. This would allow of much better customization and go along with ESO's "Play the way you want" Slogan which they sold the game by and must uphold. None of these sets would be grouped together like the current ones we get from drops or crafting stations. It would enable the crafters too add 1 3 piece, 1 4 piece, 1 5 piece bounce too amour, weapons, clothing, leather that they are crafting.

Reducing Overpower Amour Sets
All sets would be assigned tiers, you would not be able too combined two 5 piece bounces on the same amour set. So you would not be able too make Orgnum's Scales 5 piece a 3 piece bounce, Willows Path 3 piece a 4 Piece set bounce and Torgs Pact 3 piece as a 5 piece on the same amour piece. Please give feed back if you think this would keep things in balance.

Appearance Techniques
No one like too walk into the bank and see someone wearing the exact set of amour you are! Everyone wants too look unique, wants too have something that is their vary own. These "schematics" would allow you too add unique things too your toons amour/weapons. So say you had a Bosmer shield and wanted too add some bones sticking out of it. This "technique" would allow you too craft the shield with some bones sticking out of it(like sharp ones).

Now these "schematics" would drop more often and don't always have too drop in a raid, they could drop ONLY in Vet areas, vet dungeons, and Public Dungeons. This would keep the bots from selling the "schematics". But these "schematics" would be one time use only, you would only have the resources too craft the "schematic one time. This would create constantly be helping the economy along.

Crafting Sets as Quest Rewards
Now so everyone likes a challenge. Lets say there was a quest that will let you craft a certain set bounce or style because you were able too "complete" the quest. Now these quests would be HARD they would be designed for solo play, like a series of bosses that only spawn at certain times and are designed too be a challenge. These "bosses" or enemies you would be fighting would be harder then World Bosses but designed for solo only. It would be made so only you could go and fight. If you were able too complete the quest you would be rewarded with being able too craft a certain set bounce or style.

@ZOS I would really like a reply on this from a rep. This could also box people People in using certain gear and not letting them "play as they want"

I think the idea of extremely rare gear is cool. It's not saying that the general premise of crafted gear being better than dropped is going to change just that they will be adding a small amount of gear that stands above the rest.

Like I said, like the OP said, make it so a token drops but a crafter has to make it and let them make it how they want it to appear but with added flair not normally seen.

If they take the item as is, they take it as it comes and can't customize it at all.
Bobbity Boop, this game might become poop, but I'll still play because I'm just a pile of goop!

send it in through feed back let other people in game send it in through feed back push back i really don't think that making dropped gear better is the best way too go about doing this!

Crafting was strongly advertised as being the only way to obtain "THE BEST" gear in the game, I'm seriously hoping that this remains a feature in the game, although currently broken with some of the pvp gear that can be obtained through AP, so I've read.

Just my feelings.... I love crafting my own gear and go to great lengths to be self sufficient, I want to be able to craft my legendary armor of all greatness "not rely on a drop in the ocean chance of obtaining it".

In no manner does the latest Road Ahead article state or imply that crafting is going to be "nerfed" (which is the wrong word to use anyway). They only said that some really good items will be very difficult to get, which can mean just about anything.

No reason to be jumping at shadows.

Yes, have no issues with rare drops from raid bosses are better.

Much more a problem that set dropped on farming locations like abnormalities are far better than anything you can craft.
This is more of an issue, Still crafting is useful to fill in gaps and will still be, bonus for being able to make sets who is off template like heavy casting sets.
Currently I wear one dropped 3 piece set and two crafted 3 piece sets.
Will probably change it to one dropped 5 piece and a 3 or 4 piece crafted set.

Main issue is that crafted sets can be mass produced by anybody who has enough perks. Ask someone in guild and they make it for you.

Think they need some sort of token who let us craft good gear if we have the token.
No it don't need to be as good as the raid boss items as it give flexibility.
Let this token do various thing, one idea is super version of the trait stones.
another is glyph who only work on crafted items.
Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

Given the fact that jewelry can not be crafted currently those pieces may be the focus of what they were talking about. Or perhaps quality upgrade items that drop exclusively from raid content. I really don't care for the idea of making specific sets drop only in raid due to the fact you end up having no experience with it and have to put it together piece meal. I would really prefer to see a level north of gold on gear then to change the sets away from the workshop standard. However I'd be open to seeing the workshop set items dropping in the world. This would afford the non crafters among us a chance to acquire such items with out paying an arm and a leg every time. But at the same time I'd also like to see those drop only sets gain workshops of their own. They have to be produced somewhere by someone.

As the game progresses continuous rolling back of soft caps will eventually lead to problems with balance. A better methodology I would think would be to use a diminishing penalties model after having hit soft cap up to the hard caps.

In the end, obviously there has to be some kind of time limited mechanism for acquiring higher tiers of gear in the end game or no matter what you produce content wise, it will be easily trivialized within days.
For all the millions of pages of codified law we have enacted in this nation alone, all of it, every word, sentence, paragraph and nuance, is steeped in the singular idea of this:

    "Be good to one another."

If they made it a drop at the end of a trail, and a schematic that droped that made so craters could create it would be the right idea. But those items would only drop at the end of the trials! How about that idea!

Well i think it could work out, if some boss have a chance to drop a rare crafting material, you would still need a crafter to make the item. it could be a skull from a powerfull lich or the carapace from some nasty bug or whatever.

Neverwinter have something like that and that works well imo.

But if they make dropped items better than crafted, i agree that would be a mistake.
