Unknown Error has Occurred - Character will not load into game.

I'm having the same problem with Stros M'kai. Same situation as described in OP, except it's affecting characters that are logged out in Stros M'kai or those that try to travel there. Fortunately the character trying to travel there didn't make it and can be loaded in Glenumbra still.

Unfortunately, my crafter and primary mule are in Stros M'kai and my other characters are suffering from inventory logjam until I can access my crafter.

Same problem with Deshaan. VR2 zoned into the map and got the black screen of doom. Submitted a ticket and got a response that unfortunately did not help fix the issue. Looks like our characters are 'blacklisted' har har until they patch and fix the issue on their side.

I don't know if it matters, but I did submit a CS ticket. I got a very good detail troubleshooting guide from them in the mail as a response. Fortunately the problem resolved itself before I had to bother.

I did as well. They asked for some information which I sent to them and they said it was being escalated to be looked at....by Sheogorath's cheese, no idea if I'll ever hear from them again.

I'm sorry but how in the world did all of us all of the sudden have character access problems? How in the world is this now a user system issue? We ALL have the same issues right at the same time. This is NOT a computer problem on the users side.

I highly doubt its user system issue. Its most likely server side. Especially with all the similarities in the issues we are having.

I also am having the "unkown error" message when trying to log into my vet2 Main in Deshaan. Played fine this morning, left for awhile (rl) and now can't get in.

I can't load one of my characters. #6 of 8 Casontril. He is my only Daggerfall Covenant char. and resides in Stros M'Kai at the moment. NA server. All of my other char's work. When I try to "request character load" the circle just keeps going, sometimes it will break out to the login screen with "an unknown error has occurred" and sometimes I have to <Ctl-Alt-Del> to the task manager and shut down ESO from there. But Casontril will not load.

been all day now, cant login to my main charater vr3 in deshan stays at loading chaRActer screen. then dumps me (sometimes) back to login screen with an unknown error. and no reply from zos at ALL.

I have a character stuck in Stormhaven and a character stuck in Stros M'kai. So definitely not effecting just veteran zones.

I'll copy what I posted in another thread about this same issue.

Well, I got a response filled with a few steps to "fix" this issue.

-Changing the UserSettings.txt (Which the CSR failed to provide the new changes to. Waiting on reply for that....)

-Running the game and the launcher in Windows XP Service pack 3 compatibility mode. (I figured okay, that could be a legitimate fix. It works in other games sometimes. Why not here? Will try it after the UserSettings.txt information is sent to me.)

This one however is the reason for my post because I am not sure WHAT this is supposed to do to fix the loading screen of doom. But maybe it'll help someone else...doubt it...but whatever.

Close the game, then change your keyboard settings to a different support language, run the game and set the controls to default then repeat back to your original keyboard settings.

Close the game,
Click Start, type intl.cpl in the Start Search box,
On KeyboardsandLanguage tab, click Change Keyboards, then click on Add,
Expand the language that you want. For example, expand French,
Expand keyboard list, click to select the French check box, and then click OK,
In the options, click View Layout to compare the layout with the actual keyboard,
In the default input language list, click French, and then click OK twice,
In the Regional and Language Options dialog box, click OK,
In your Windows task bar (next to you clock), mouse-over the EN icon and click on it and select the new language you just have set-up with the above steps.
Now run the game once more, then Press ESC and choose Controls, then Keybindings,
Now press X for default controls


So..yeah..that's what's happening with my "help" right now.

I logged out in Deshaan and can't even load that character in at the moment. It is an endless "loading into game" from character select. I sent in a ticket for it.

Gotta love waiting two hours, I repeat two hours, for a reply (from my needed reply mind you) from a support email about fixing this issue. Didn't realize it was "reply and ignore customers" day at ZOS.

This is truly horrible customer service.

I had a crash in game and since it happened I have been unable to get to character creation screen, I can login fine but then the wheel of death begins. Oh and I have the game on my laptop and my desktop and neither will load. I can however login to my buddies account...

Yeah, it's pretty much been isolated to an issue on the US megaserver, not on the client, thanks to lots of us 301ers collaborating.

The big kicker is that they bother with client troubleshooting when so many different people with varied setups (different video cards, antivirus, firewall, routers, etc) have the exact same issue....

I dont even get an error code it just spins after I put in my login credentials.

Actually, its been reported in other threads that this same thing is happening on the EU server as well.
