Forever loading screen, not in pvp

ombyoureaninja
Getting a forever loading screen teleporting from Auridon to Deshann. It's happened 3+ times consecutively.

If I leave it loading long enough "an unknown error has occurred".

20 minutes later I still cannot get to character select screen...just endless loading, not even an error message...never had a problem before this...hoping it is short lived.

Happens every now and then for me too; whether I'm on my main traveling, or loading into the game.

I have also experienced this today. Last night the game was fine. Everything worked as intended. Logged in today and was able to get onto my main in Deshaan. However, everything was unresponsive. As a possible fix to such things I logged out and expected to log back in and select my character again but nope!

No character select screen for me...instead...

I was hit with the loading screen of infinity™.

I've done a repair via the launcher...
    Turned off all add-ons..
Ran game as admin (even though it already is running that way.)
Bypassed launcher/desktop icons and tried to run it.

Still I never see the character select screen anymore. Just the loading screen of infinity™.

    *sigh*

So many bugs and problems within this game. Yes, it's cool to have new content (looking at you Craglorn and patch 1.1.2!) so soon after launch but not at the price we're all paying (and the price for subs!) with game breaking bugs/errors/problems.

I'm quickly losing patience and enthusiasm to continue with this game...

Would seem certain zones, like Deshaan, are causing a majority of the problems. Unfortunately, I can't get pass the loading screen to get to character select to see if that's the case with myself or not.

    :'(

I'm experiencing trouble logging in with a character in Deshaan as well. My alts have no issues, just my main who is sitting in Deshaan. Sits at "Requesting character load"; either it bounces back with an unknown error, or I have to force-quit the game.

Something is seriously wrong. I have characters in all three covs and I could get to them a few hours ago. Just tried Deshaan, Stros M'kai and Glenumbra and neither will load. Infinite loading screen and I have to force quite the game.

My character in K Roost WILL load but none of the others will...ugh...

Same is happening for me. After the game froze in Deshaan, I have been unable to even log in to the character select screen. Infinite loading. Have tried repair and all of the other suggestions in the various loading screen threads, nothing has worked. It never even times out to give me an error - I left it trying to load for over an hour, just an infinite load screen.

Yeah, can't load into Deshaan either...just logging in your character for like 3min and then an unknown error.

Holy crap, this is what they have told me to do:
Thank you for contacting us today here at The Elder Scrolls Online.

I apologize for any inconveniences that you have experienced thus far. I want to run some troubleshooting steps with you to try to resolve this.

Please follow these steps that I have provided below. They may seem like much, but I want to try everything that I can to fix your issue.

    1. Disable all game add-ons that you may have downloaded for the game.
    2. Navigate to your "My Documents" or "Documents" folder in the start menu.
    3. Delete the folder named "Elder Scrolls Online". This is a settings folder. It will repopulate when the game launches again.
    4. Navigate to the "C://" drive on your computer from "My Computer" or "Computer".
    - Open "Program Files (x86)"
    - Open "Zenimax Online"
    - Open "Launcher"
    - Delete the "Program Data" folder
    5. Close out of all screens and return back to your desktop.

(These next steps are known as "Clean-booting" your computer and will disable all programs and services that start with your computer that are not the basic Microsoft services. During these steps, please pay special attention to the note that will inform you on how to reverse these changes, if you so choose to. You do not need to reverse these changes and no program on your computer is deleted. They simply do not start, when your computer starts; you will need to manually start them.)

    6. Hold the Windows Key and press the letter "R"
    7. Type in "MsConfig" into the Run box that opens and press enter.
    8. Press the radial button next to "Selective Start-up"

(Take note of where it says "Normal Start Up". If you press this and then "Apply" and "ok", then restart your computer, all changes made in this tool during these steps will be reversed.)

    9. Uncheck the "Load Start-Up Items" checkbox.
    10. Press on the "Services" tab located at the top of the box.
    11. Check the "Hide All Microsoft Services" checkbox.
    12. Press the "Disable All" button.
    13. Press Apply and Ok and you will be prompted to restart your computer. Please restart your computer.
    14. Run the game as Administrator by Right-Clicking on the game icon on your desktop and choosing "Run as Administrator".
    15. Run the "Repair" from the launcher's game option, which are located in between the news title and the news articles.

If you have any further concerns or these steps do not assist in allowing you in your gameplay, then please contact us back at any time with your DxDiag and the results from a speedtest. I have listed the information for these below.

Please use the steps below to record and send us the information about the current installation of Direct X on the computer. No personal information is contained in the report.

    - Press the Windows Key and the R key on your keyboard to bring up the "Run" box.
    - In the "Run" box, type in DxDiag.
    - Press Enter. This will start the DxDiag utility.
    - Once the Direct X Diagnostic Tool appears, click on the Save All Information button at the bottom.
    - When asked to where to save the file to, click on the drop-down box next to Save in and select Desktop.
    - In File Name box towards the bottom, then name DxDiag.txt should appear. Leave this as is and click on the OK button.
    - Click the Exit button to exit the Direct X Diagnostic Tool.
    - On the Desktop, there should be a file name DxDiag or DxDiag.txt. If there is no file with this name, please repeat the steps above and make sure to save the file to the Desktop.
    - Open this email up and click the reply button.
    - Click the Attachment button and add the DxDiag.txt from the Desktop.

To perform a speedtest, please navigate to http://www.speedtest.net and press "Run Test" when the page fully loads. After the test has gone through it's process of running, please provide us with the following information:

    -Download Speed:
    -Upload Speed:
    -Ping:

Once the attachment and results of the test has been added, click the Send button to send us this information.

I look forward to hearing back from you. Thank you for your time and patience as we work together to resolve this issue and for your continued interest and support.

When you reach the character select screen, select Options on the left side of the screen. In Graphic Settings, select Minimum and save the settings.

    Warm Regards,
    The Elder Scrolls Online Team

You can find more information about The Elder Scrolls Online on our website and social channels (Facebook, Twitter, and Google+).

I am currently in the repair part of the instructions, I will let everyone know if it works.

Edit2: It did not work, sent them the extra information they requested. I have no idea why my DirectX or internet speed should matter, I have been playing perfectly fine on ultra settings all the way up to this morning.

    @Saiden
It honestly should not take having to do all of that just to play a game. In my almost 15 years of playing MMOs, I have never EVER come across that much work to make a game playable.

    No, not playable...

I'm sorry but how in the world did all of us all of the sudden have character access problems? How in the world is this now a user system issue? We ALL have the same issues right at the same time. This is NOT a computer problem on the users side.

None of the fixes worked. And my hardware is all very new, way beyond what the game takes to play. DirectX and my internet will not be the issues. I play on Ultra with no framerate issues whatsoever.

Waiting for another response. Thinking about Realm Reborn in the meantime.

Well no none of that would work as it is a server side issue. My alienware laptop runs the game on ultra just fine normally. You can't have hundreds of people with the exact same issue and say its the player's hardware's fault, when suddenly a whole mass of people get the exact same problem at about the same time. Oh yes, clearly, its the clients fault.

So I get a response from my ticket that says:

We have received word of your quest issue. I would like to sincerely apologize for the inconvenience but we are currently unable to fulfill your request. At this time we are undergoing system maintenance and will be unable to assist you until it has been completed. We expect to have all systems go by 3:30 PM EST at the latest.

Umm it is 4:30PM EST and it wasn't a quest issue it was a I cannot access my characters issue. :(

    Hi

I've had the same issue all day, first I got kicked and couldn't log back into my character.

I finally got another character to load, but it dropped out while zoning and I can't get back in with that character either.

Now neither of those characters will load, with the message "Unknown Error".

My friend was having the same issues at the same time, (we were talking on Skype).

    Help, please fix this.
With all of the people having this problem this is a game issue not a computer issue.

    Mike
