Game freeze for 3-5 seconds -- plz help.

I have heard of this problem, during the first couple weeks of the game, but never experienced it myself (cept during closed beta).

I run the game on ultra without any problem so far... until this last patch. Now, my game freezes for a few seconds (3-5), once or twice per minute. Its really upsetting... gets to the point where i have to walk around, waiting for it to happen, before i engage in combat... or i die. I tried lowering graphics but it still happens. Tried window mode, full screen, full screen windowed... nothing helps.

Is there a way to solve this? All my drivers are in order so... please help, getting really tired of this.

I am having the same issues. Mine just started after the last hotfix to correct the memory issues.

I was experiencing this since the latest patch too, 2-3 freezes per minute ( i'm also playing in 3D), but i found a solution.

Actually i did a number of things that helped so i'm gonna post all of them, not sure which of these helped me get rid of the freezes:

    1. In UserSettings.txt i changed:
    SET RequestedNumJobThreads "-1"
    SET RequestedNumWorkerThreads "-1"
    -to:
    SET RequestedNumJobThreads "0"
    SET RequestedNumWorkerThreads "0"

    2. In video settings i turned VSync On

    3. Most important, I'm skipping the launcher and starting the game directly with eso.exe (i think this last one is the one that did it, no more freezes)

I always run with VSync on but I will change the SET's and see how that works. If no change I will try starting from eso.exe. Thanks!

Make sure you close down the launcher from your desktop after you start the game if you haven't already. This might help you.

The changes in the usersettings seems to have fixed it. I am still using the launcher but didn't notice any stuttering/freezing every few seconds like before. Thanks for the info!! :)

I haven't done any of this but i solved my problem as well. I noticed there was some "graphic codex" that was taking up a lot of cpu usage, for whatever reason. So i just blocked it while i play and the freezing is gone. Ill also try those fixes mentioned. Thanks!

I am having the exact same issue... very frustrating. I will try the UserSettings.txt edits and see how that works for me.

-I get 3 - 6 second freezes every so often.
-CPU usage spikes to 100% during these spikes
    -RAM usage stays constant
-Game ran perfectly prior to the patch at Ultra High graphic settings.
-It's an issue with or without AddOns
-It's an issue in full-screen or windowed
    -Win 7 Pro, i53570k, 24GB RAM, GTX 660Ti (2GB)

I fixed this issue by changing the eso.exe priority via taskmgr to above normal. I then kill the launcher. The lockups I was having occurred irrespective to any game settings. Also my CPU is an e8500. I had heard that this particular problem seems to be a dual-core manifestation but you are running quad. Your mileage may vary.

The annoying thing is that you have to do it each time you launch.

    1. Kill launcher after your game load, or just run eso.exe and dont use launcher(some processes in launcher use a lot of resources, ''awesomnium.exe'' or something like that, can see it in Task Manager).
    2. Change eso.exe priority in said task manager to high(NOT higher, may cause some problems-i only read about it, its not my opinion, but high is enough anyway).
    3. Do edit UserSetting document as stated above, i had small spikes after last patch and it helped. It helped earlier too, but this patch changed settings from
    SET RequestedNumThreads "-1"
    to
    SET RequestedNumJobThreads "-1"
    SET RequestedNumWorkerThreads "-1"

So both above need to be set to 0 again, even if you changed RequestedNumThreads earlier.

I made a script which will launch the game with high priority every time. This assumes your game is located in the default installation directory.

That setting changed on my desktop but my laptop client file did *not* change, oddly enough.
