Maintenance for the week of July 14:
• PC/Mac: No maintenance – July 14

This is becoming a joke.

Is this amatuer hour? Is it "take your daughter to work day" and you guys let a bunch of kids take over the company for a while? This level of incompetence I expect from a fly by night free to play MMO, but a triple A title with a subscription fee? Really?

Since you guys are obviously in the dark on how to run things, I will give you a few tips.

1) Do not patch the game with a massive patch right before a holiday weekend. Do it at the beginning of the week, so you can fix the crap you are going to break. I would say don't break it in the first place, but you have shown us that this option is out of the question.

2) Do not push patches that you did not test. You have the PTS (which I doubt much actual "testing" gets done on, but whatever), but you don't even give them the patch you are pushing to test? Test 1.1.1, then patch 1.1.2 without testing it? Come on guys.

3) When you decide to not follow these simple, common sense guidelines, then you bring in your staff to fix it, all day, all night, all weekend. You hotfix it immediately, and you actually give updates with what is going on. Not vague garbage like "we think we might have found something and we are working on it". Actual information.

Currently the game is not just unplayable, it is so bad that your customers could actually damage their hardware if they try. Even AO's launch (epic as it was in the fail department) was not as bad as this patch.

Kinda harsh but the memory leak bug is really bad... I can understand and wait for fixes on in-game bugs but memory leaks and general flaws that affect hardware should be out of the picture. I agree they should have tested this more, and its not like we reached VR10 and did everything... more than 70% are less than VR10. Quality should come first even if the hardcore players feel like they have nothing to do... (there is still LoL, go play some matches...)

I agree with most of what you said, its just common sense. Unfortunately, Zenimax doesn't seem to be working with all cylinders firing. PTS is used by players to find exploits that they can use upon release whereas they are meant to report those exploits.

I think they need to release smaller patches so less can go wrong and has you said, don't release large content updates at a holiday weekend which is just really really dumb and I be they are working with a skeleton crew at the moment.

I've been a huge supporter of Zenimax but even my patience is running thin. I have decided to give them this month then I'll take a break and see what they do in the next few months but I doubt much will change.

I really don't know, in their defense however they were told to only test the adventure zone, so the VR mob thing they, the testers probably didn't even know about.

It is however is a selected few that got to play the PTS before release. And we all saw how wonderful the game was in early release

I agree with a previous comment. Overly harsh, but the memory leak issue probably should have been caught during QA. Hopefully a hotfix for that is coming soon.

I'm a new player so maybe I just haven't noticed it or this is something that affects only higher level players but the game seems playable to me.

In regards to system performance I'm running it on a core 2 quad 3.0ghz machine with two 8800GS graphics cards in sli with 4gb of ram. The machine is getting old there is no doubt but it plays respectable at the high end of medium settings at 1080p. My 15" late 2011 macbook pro handles it decent too in high settings. I have no complaints about how the game runs.

I could have dealt with any bug they introduced with this patch, save for the memory leak one that makes the game literally unplayable for me. VR mobs too tough? Np, let me make another char while you patch things up; achievements? don't care; broken skills? whatever, play without them 'till stuff gets sorted out.

Memory leak that damages my PC and makes the game downright unplayable? *** you, give me my money back.

Exactly. I expect bugged quests. Achievments bugged out? no problem, fix it when you can. Game got super hard for certain areas? Ok, I can find ways to adapt or other things to do.

Making the game unplayable at all with the added bonus of "hey we might actually damage your rig" is unacceptable.

Never have I experienced such a vast amount of mismanaged, fumbling incompetence from any other single company in the history of game releases to this date. It's like they are doing it on purpose. Please tell me that there is a fundamental flaw in the gaming engines design which renders it totally uncontrollable by it's creators or for the love of Talos start firing those responsible ASAP and hire some competence.

The memory leak was reported on PTS numerous times for nearly a month by people it affected or so I am lead to believe.

Seriously, this. I'm honestly scared to even play it right now. Was playing it earlier, doing a quest for the fighter's guild. Right as I go to the end of the dungeon, I started getting some major stuttering and slowdown. Figured it was a lag spike so I continued playing. Only i just kept getting worse over the next couple minutes, until the whole thing, game, and computer completely locked up and shortly after had to be hard rebooted. Fortunately there's no apparent lasting issues, but man is crap like that scary. And being scared of a game damaging my hardware is NOT something I appreciate as a paying costumer.

Well it wasn't just a patch, but more content as well, although I'll agree that giving to us earlier in the week would have been nice. Of course this assumes that it was ready earlier in the week, and of course we still would have had to wait an age for it to be processed.
    2) Do not push patches that you did not test. You have the PTS (which I doubt much actual "testing" gets done on, but whatever), but you don't even give them the patch you are pushing to test? Test 1.1.1, then patch 1.1.2 without testing it? Come on guys.
They did test it, but even then problems are going to be missed, I know from swtor that a number of problems are masked by PTS tests, only one or two computers might get the problem, which would be the equivalent of 5% of the market, but software engineers will ask is it just that computer, because 90% of the time it is.
    3) When you decide to not follow these simple, common sense guidelines, then you bring in your staff to fix it, all day, all night, all weekend. Not to be funny, but if they gave you the "Actual Information" would you understand it, because I wouldn't. What you want is an interpretted set of information, which they might not have, because the people who can explain it might be busy trying to fix it.

Just wanted to address this one part. Sadly, you are mistaken, as has been confirmed by people that are a part of the PTS. They were given 1.1.1 to test craglorn, they never got to use 1.1.2, which was then pushed to live.

I'm actually hoping that the memory leak was responsible for the utterly appalling performance (the game, not us!) myself and guildmates were experiencing in PvP last night.

At one point, in desperation, I turned my gfx settings down so low that by comparison Gothic 1 would be rated a graphics showcase (I love Gothic btw, awesome game, just using the original as a graphics comparison!)

Dude totally agree dropping this duece on people right before they go home is RIDICULOUS.

Not testing the patch is RIDICULOUS

Coding a sloppy gaping hole in the code where data gushes through is RIDICULOUS

Whole situation is RIDICULOUS. And now we have to wait while they get it together. They have quality assurance issues there that are monumental.

It was. Guaranteed. I have stopped the crashing with a 3rd party program but still after awhile anything that needs to load into the game is just a chug fest. Someone weapon swaps CHUNG CHUG, someone does a animation CHUG CHUG.

Exactly there is no way this was play tested, or if it was they fired it up for 5 mins and did not even check memory consumption.
