Maintenance for the week of January 5:
• PC/Mac: No maintenance – January 5
• NA megaservers for maintenance – January 7, 4:00AM EST (9:00 UTC) - 10:00AM EST (15:00 UTC)
• EU megaservers for maintenance – January 7, 4:00AM EST (9:00 UTC) - 10:00AM EST (15:00 UTC)

This is becoming a joke.

Is this amatuer hour? Is it "take your daughter to work day" and you guys let a bunch of kids take over the company for a while? This level of incompetence I expect from a fly by night free to play MMO, but a triple A title with a subscription fee? Really?

Since you guys are obviously in the dark on how to run things, I will give you a few tips.

    1) Do not patch the game with a massive patch right before a holiday weekend. Do it at the beginning of the week, so you can fix the crap you are going to break. I would say don't break it in the first place, but you have shown us that this option is out of the question.

    2) Do not push patches that you did not test. You have the PTS (which I doubt much actual "testing" gets done on, but whatever), but you don't even give them the patch you are pushing to test? Test 1.1.1, then patch 1.1.2 without testing it? Come on guys.

    3) When you decide to not follow these simple, common sense guidelines, then you bring in your staff to fix it, all day, all night, all weekend. You hotfix it immediately, and you actually give updates with what is going on. Not vague garbage like "we think we might have found something and we are working on it". Actual information.

Currently the game is not just unplayable, it is so bad that your customers could actually damage their hardware if they try. Even AO's launch (epic as it was in the fail department) was not as bad as this patch.

    Thanks for QQ.

Speak for yourself, I've been playing all day with several other people without issue and the mobs were reverted back also.

    Damage control, Zenimax, damage control

Yeah, I am speaking for myself. Thanks for that tip. I would have never realized that is how speaking worked. Am I doing it right? I used the pronoun "I", is that correct? Obviously there must be no issue at all, since it is not affecting you. Nevermind the piles of posts about it, or the fact that it has been verified by ZoS themselves.

I also like this game. I like this game very much, that is why I am upset that I am unable to play it due to the huge memory leak.

I don't care about bugs. Those get fixed over time. Memory leaks on the other hand hurt my whole computer, not just the game...

I like this game a lot, and I am sad that I cannot play it this long weekend.

Seriously, this. I'm honestly scared to even play it right now. Was playing it earlier, doing a quest for the fighter's guild. Right as I go to the end of the dungeon, I started getting some major stuttering and slowdown. Figured it was a lag spike so I continued playing. Only i just kept getting worse over the next couple minutes, until the whole thing, game, and computer completely locked up and shortly after had to be hard rebooted. Fortunately there's no apparent lasting issues, but man is crap like that scary. And being scared of a game damaging my hardware is NOT something I appreciate as a paying costumer.

I had a similar experience. I've closed off and restarted. Going to play some other game for a few days then come back and see what happens.

I'm not much for whinging about a game, but my system is all of a sudden unstable- before the patching it was running PERFECT, day in day out.

The vet level *** on top of it was just icing on the cake. As is their lack of CLEAR communication as a company.

Hope they can get it together soon, because I've really enjoyed the game more often than not.

Unfortunately, I missed the cap by a few seconds trying to screen-cap it... It hit 6GB of memory... If you look all the way to the right on the chart thingy, you can see the MASSIVE spike that I just missed capturing on footage. This was just after closing the game for the night.

It doesn't really impact me per-say, as I have a very high-end PC. But for others, this is a SERIOUS issue. If you are experiencing this, you NEED to report this with the in-game bug complaint, ASAP.

I can't play it because unlike you (Consider yourself lucky!), I have been struck with the Memory Leak, which (As can be seen in these forums) is not affecting everyone, but is still affecting a good portion of the player base.

Why do you assume that just because YOU can play it, EVERYONE is going to be having no issues? You really think everyone here posting about these problems are just making them up for fun?

Do me a favor, and I am asking in all seriousness. Play the game for 4+ hours, which should be no issue according to you, then open task manager and let us know how much memory eso.exe is using.

While I don't like the OP's tone one bit, I agree with the points made in the original post regarding release timing and testing.

I've been thinking about testing for a while, and specifically what might be going wrong within ZOS and I can't help but conclude that they're likely testing, but severely limiting that testing by focusing on unit testing vs. string testing. I also suspect that there isn't much in the way of true UAT going on in PTS in that what's released to us on the subscription servers is truly not 100% identical to what's on PTS.

Bottom line: pre-release testing needs to be improved quite dramatically.

Yeah, I figured some might take issue. I have been one of the biggest "white knights" of this game on these forums since ...I don't know...August I guess?

But I am done with that now. And I let my tone be dictated by my frustration; it was fun to write it that way, too.

That said, the core issues of the post are solid, even if my style of expressing them offends. Which I think from your post, you agree with.

Yeah, I cancelled today. Haven't played for a couple of weeks due to my dislike for content difficulty being nerfed, only 5 skills at a time, phased content, goldspammers and a general boredom with questing. I was going to play today to see if I could get back into the game but have read all about the latest technical difficulties. I've lost patience now. Good luck though to Zenimax, I hope you create a good game out of ESO one day for those who stick with you.

While I do think this is little of an over reaction, I would love to see the company put out a few more statements. I do think they have come to the same conclusion because so far they have been putting them out since the patch. Now you might not like what they say, because we are looking into it, isn't all that helpful, but at least they are finally answering some things.

I'm lucky i guess, since I can play so far with next to no issues. Hopefully they can get it sorted and those crashing and locked out will join us soon.

If you want to play through the crashes, that's fine, but don't expect ZOS to pay for the memory or disk rebuilds because they won't.
If this is their idea of good service then they are wrong.

Mistakes I can live with, we all make them, but the relative silence from this company infers that they have no idea what they are doing or how they are going to fix or test stuff. In fact I really doubt they even care.

Before this patch I had zero problems technically, just some bad lag at peak times in popular towns. Now I've had 3 crashes needing hard reboots and that is it for me. I've experienced crashes like this in the past (not with this game) and it caused the windows installation to be corrupted beyond repair and I had to wipe and reinstall windows on the hard drives. I'm not going there again.

The really, really sad thing is that there is a really good game under all this. Bethesda's input is obvious, the artists and zone designers have done a great job but the technical implementation, customer care and commitment to the project by the company is absolutely ****!

Well I must agree BEFORE patch I might have had complaints with their abysmal group content(no xp for grouping) but I was thinking about the game that it was the smoothest running MMO I had seen, on par with GW2.

Now bloody its on par with...actually below par with Vanguard. Its that bad.

It can lead to hard drive corruption, though.
