Booted to Character Select, Progress lost

strefilb14_ESO
It looks like this issue, which I haven't seen in a few weeks, has made a comeback. Its terrible in Stonefalls right now, I can't even get from the wayshrine to the bank before I am booted. Anyone else seeing this?

It's a connection issue, its on your end. Any "progress" you make while you're offline is undone because the server never received the data of your "progress".

unless you are saying that i played for 10 minutes while offline, then you are incorrect. The server does not save your progress in real time, it seems to save when you change maps. The first time this happened today, i crafted a set of armor, began research on 2 traits, sold sold trash and was on my way to the bank when I was booted to character select. When I relogged, I was back at the Wayshrine in Shadowfen, just as I was before I traveled to Stonefalls.
This is not a new issue and it is not a problem on the user side. It was rampant in early access and after launch, went away and now I'm seeing it again.

Yeah, it's not quite so simple as the Client thinking its still connected when it's not. When that happens, you can still move through the world and open menus, but you can't really interact with anything in the world.

    This is this issue: http://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/discussion/100928/randomly-jumps-to-character-select-screen-from-ingame-followed-by-loss-of-progress

I've played a lot in various zones today and so far I've only had it happen in Stonefalls.

If ESO saves data like other MMO's, it apparently records game state at set intervals instead of tons of little updates to the backend DB.

If you fancy being a bit geeky, read this :
    http://www.dbms2.com/2014/04/16/the-worst-database-developers-in-the-world/

The comments are worth a read. Comment no 22 reveals a bit of the workings that 'could' be going on behind the scenes.

Quote : "What almost all contemporary MMOs do for data storage is to run a game simulation and then periodically persist game state to a database as needed. This is the cause of the “10 minute rollback” phenomenon."

If you got booted and the game state hadn't been saved, this would explain it.

Obviously, we don't know if this is exactly the case with ESO as we don't know the architecture, but it's interesting none the less

Yes same here and so far only in stone falls and going to the packet sniffer I am connected to the server side but something is constantly bouncing me out to char select… this is new in this patch and is a royal PITA

Yup, I got booted at the same time so @Niliu you're probably wrong about it being client-side.
