Really annoying dual screen bug

When running elder scrolls now, my second screen turns black.

I can now no longer see teamspeak or any website I have up on my second screen.

Is there any way around this?

I just checked, if you put it to Windowed (Full screen) it will let you use both screens. But the graphical quality goes bad.

had the same, game just reset to full screen - just set it back to windowed mode.

I had the same problem when i first launched after the patch. It looks like it reset some of the video setttings. I switched back to Windows (full-screen) and it worked as before.

Now if the game would just stop hard-locking my PC and requiring a power cycle every 30 minutes.

I set it back to Windowed Full-screen but it performs horribly. Sub 20 FPS, stuttering and freezing.

It was performing just fine before the patch.

bump. No vent on second monitor, no email or IM, and alt tab is now broken as well, when I tab back into the game mouse an keyboard control no longer works and I literally have to log off my computer to get out of the game, opening task manager doesnt even work.

    Was fine before the patch.

When the game is first launched, it does one of two things:
    1. Blanks the second screen, or
    2. Shoves the second screen over so that it only the left half of it displays

For me, the solution was the same. Alt-tab out of the game, then select the second ESO icon in the task bar to go back to the game.

Result: I can see the second screen, and the screen size corrects itself.

I knew it did it once somehow, thanks for that. Still a bug newly introduced by ZOS though even with this gamer workaround.

Same here. Fix that has given me some of my fps back is to go into the usersettings file and change:

SET FULLSCREEN_v5 "2" from "2" to "1" (windowed fullScreen) I was already running windowed full screen but the issues are with running full screen so make sure your settings are really showing windowed full screen.

    In UserSettings.txt i changed:

    SET RequestedNumJobThreads "-1"
    SET RequestedNumWorkerThreads "-1"
    -to:
    SET RequestedNumJobThreads "0"
    SET RequestedNumWorkerThreads "0"

In video settings i turned VSync On

@Seravi - none of that has anything to do with this dual monitor bug (second monitor shows black screen) when running true fullscreen (introduced since the Craglorn patch).

    1) Find your ESO.exe file in \Zenimax Online\The Elder Scrolls Online EU\game\client\eso.exe for EU or \Zenimax Online\The Elder Scrolls Online\game\client\eso.exe for US.

    2) Right click on ESO.exe and select properties.

    3) Select the compatibility tab at the top.

    4) Tick Disable desktop composition. Click apply then ok.

    5) Run game in full screen exclusive.

This works for me. You can also do this with any game you have this problem with as long as you find the main exe for the game.

Its not a bug, that's what happens when you play games in fullscreen and thats any game not ESO. Do windowed.

Nope, not with any other games I have. When playing fullscreen my games do not make my second monitor go black. Just happens with ESO.

This is a bug. We want it fixed.

Hello, everyone! As an FYI, this is working as intended to allow the use of two monitors for fullscreen. However, there are two options which have helped resolve issue for those who would like to only use one monitor for fullscreen.

The first option is to set your game to Windowed Fullscreen mode instead of true fullscreen.

But if you prefer having true fullscreen mode on only one monitor, please try the following:
    • Navigate to C:\Users\Username\Documents\Elder Scrolls Online\live (or C:\Users\Username\Documents\Elder Scrolls Online\liveeu for the European megaserver)
    • Locate the file UserSettings.txt and open it with Notepad
    • Locate the line starting SET FULLSCREEN_v5 - it will be set to SET FULLSCREEN_v5 "2"
    • Change this to SET FULLSCREEN_v5 "1" and save the file
    • Restart the launcher and hit Play
We hope this helps all you continue your time in Tamriel, but only on one monitor. Thank you for your patience!

@babylon umm look above this post ^^. Same thing I said... The other two changes help with any stuttering players are having in the windowed mode.

The CS post above doesn't seem to understand we are getting black monitors on the second monitor in fullscreen mode. I expect that of ZOS CS staff, but expect more from fellow players :3

Don't think any of us are complaining about stuttering so we didn't need to have you type (well, copy/paste) a fix for that in this thread, which is about the black second monitor on fullscreen mode.

    @ZOS_MichelleA

No we are getting a black second monitor when running fullscreen mode. We want to use both of our monitors, one for the game and one for surfing the net or w/e, but your game does not allow this in true fullscreen mode - the second monitor goes black when game loads and so can't be used at all.

Please read the OP and try to understand the problem.

I haven't. And w/e games you had the issue with wrote crappy coding as well. Shouldn't have to go into a game config and manually edit anything to make a game run properly. That's even if it fixes the problem, cba even loading the game atm.

At least it's something, what you can fix yourself. As long as they have such major problems, like people cannot login for days (for example me), I would say a black second screen is the least important. Be happy, that you were able to/can play.
