I voted yes because the past games allowed it and ESO is trying to cater to both the mmo and elder scrolls crowd and horses swimming are part of TES

I'm sorry, that is not how it works.

    MMOs have underwater swimming.
    TES has underwater swimming.
    ESO has no underwater swimming.

    MMOs have dueling.
    TES had dueling
    ESO has no dueling.

    MMOs have housing.
    TES had housing.
    ESO has no housing.

    MMOs have a law system
    TES had a law system.
    ESO has no law system.

Honestly, I could do this all day long, but I think you get my point. :)

To be fair I feel that underwater combat and exploration is usually more of a hassle than fun (hated it in GW2). Though I admit there have been a few moments in TESO where underwater exploration would have been nice, but it's never too late.

And which MMO has a law system? The closest thing as a law system that I have played in an MMO is that the guards of cities in WoW attacked people who weren't of the same faction.

Edit: Forgot to talk about the horses. Of course they should be able to swim, it's a no brainer for me, I was actually surprise the first time I tried to cross a puddle and my horse despawned. Mounted combat sounds sweet too, could be a first for the genre.

It's actually a decent game, and they released an original 2007' version of it for players who liked the older game. It gives me a headache trying to figure out the new version just because of how new it is. The graphics are crazyyyy. (I have a gaming rig, I play on ultra) lol

Give me Shadowmere, the rest of you can have your swimming horses. Then what I can do in Cyrodiil is... just go afk, have lunch, watch a movie, while my horse solo's both other factions and the dolmens for me. Come back, loot, take screen shots, pat horse, go back to Hulu/Netflix.

Back in my day Shadowmere would just run away. And hopefully you hadn't armored him, then you'd loose him for ever.

Yes, I have actually. Feel free to /google stuff before you criticize it like you're the master of knowledge.
Two whole screenshots is definitely more than this 'master of knowledge' and occasional forum poster can top.
i can TOP entire thread(or bandwagon) of "your" kind

Cjmarsh ask a very valid question
Have you ever seen a horse swim with someone riding it?
    So have you?
    Seriously?
Do you even know how horses swim?
AND do you even know how physics works?
    Especialy liquids?

Both of this pictures are pure bullshat.
if you put a rider on swimming horse, then horse WILL be pushed down, and basically drown. In ESO riders are also commonly armored -so its additional weight to pull down poor mount
This means -that on both of above pictures horse is STANDING on the ground, and NOT SWIMMING , swimming horse cant lift his head as high as on first picture, and second is obvious that this horse is not swimming

In fact swimming horse and rider looks like that. You holding on horse neck and swim alongside him, not ride him

    Washing_off_the_Dust_2.jpg

And a vid about swimming WITH horse
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HHPPOFbLb3c

HORSES CANT SWIM WITH RIDER ON TOP OF THEM
(so its pointless to add this in game)

I think we should be able to spawn a mount and pet it...groom it....release its tension into a bucket and use it for crafting

ROFL I love how you schooled that noob for me, I was just about to, thanks for saving me the time.

Kids these days think they know everything, I do agree that someone in full plate armor swimming is rediculous, but since they have that blatant oversight, there is zero excuse for not having in game what WoW had, what, 10 years ago now?

Why are MMO's regressing in their abilities and technology? Only being able to fish in "holes".... invisible walls everywhere instead of clever terrain, it's just lazy or saddening, or both? Where are all the millions we pay them going? Are there just a lack of good programmers out there?

These are the mysteries I would like answers to and of COURSE horses should be able to swim, and I should be able to dive.

Not worth the time writing the programming. Your horse swims so slow compared to your character that in past ES games I would always dismount, swim, and then remount on the other side. If anything, the auto dismount in water helps me move along faster.

I would like to at least have the choice to choose to dismount or not - why would you not want others to be able to have the ability to choose to dismount? For me it is very annoying to hit a shallow puddle or stream and be thrown off of my horse. The horses at this time seem to hit or miss like the OP stated even disappearing randomly over solid terrain at times. I think the horses should behave like the horses in Oblivion and Skyrim.

Hated horse swimming in previous ES games, was like swimming through glue. Would rather have the ability to swim underwater.
