Should horses be able to swim in ESO?

Serious question... In the past two Elder Scrolls games, horses could swim, allowing them to be much easier to use, and a lot more user friendly. I've noticed that horses now are very spotty (i.e: accidentally get within 3 feet of water, dismounted, randomly dismounts in certain areas with no warning). However, I feel that it's quite silly that horses can't swim in the water, especially because they were able to in the other Elder Scrolls titles. I don't get why they would randomly remove a feature such as this, knowing it would annoy players (they knew, believe me they did; dismounting and remounting 5 times just to cross a river is crazy).

I don't think it would be an issue due to the fact that the swim speed in water on a horse is the same as swimming. If you take damage (including from range attacks) you should be subject to dismounting as usual. It wouldn't change anything in pvp regardless, just allow you to continue on.1 -

Your horse swims so slow compared to your character that in past ES games I would always dismount, swim, and then remount on the other side. If anything, the auto dismount in water helps me move along faster.I don't always drink Skooma, but when I do I go to the Southwall Corner Club. May you walk on warm sands my friends.1

My comment didn't have anything to do with you personally. I was pointing out that horses don't swim with riders on them, they only ford rivers and such that are shallow enough for it. First of all, there are no oceans in ESO. If you swim 50 feet past land at any point, you die from "exhaustion" regardless. My qualm isn't with ESO not allowing us to ride our horses through the waters of Tamriel 50 miles out, it's being dismounted when I so much as splash it with water from a puddle.denicolad16_ESO wrote: »Would be too slow imo. And I agree with you there. Although a separate issue entirely, I think they tried too hard on the concept of horseback riding and made it very spotty (spotty meaning design isn't really what would be desired). You can't even get a horse for the first 15-20 levels unless you buy imperial edition, which I hardly find fair, and horses run slower than walking on foot, and they run out of stamina (like really? They never ran out of energy on Skyrim or Oblivion... Who added this...)

Windshadow_ESO✭✭✭just as some folks are better swimmers than others so it is with horses I have had horses that love to swim with me bareback on it is a normal form of conditions and exercise to the point that racing stables have horse swimming pond area and the fancy ones have a mechanical horse lap pool thing that provides for an adjustable current to vary the exercise level
and I have had others you could get to swim only if being led from ahead that is with no saddle on them.. i have seen pack horses that will swim the deep part of a river even with their packs on though I agree that is not common
others that were just afraid of water more than a couple of feet deep and could not be made to enter it
but for the game mechanics it is just fine as it is1 -

Niastissa✭✭✭Allow horses to swim, it's a no brainer!I've been able to ride my horse through the water for things like river crossing.
The real poll should be being able to attack while on the horse. I wish we could. I want to be able to come charging up and hack and slash as I run by or even have a lance and skewer the baddies from a safe ten foot distance.
