You can disagree, but you're wrong. If ZOS sold 5 million copies they wouldn't hold that back because they'd be afraid of a few trolls saying WoW sold more. That's just not how MMO marketing works.Maverick827 wrote: »There is a zero percent chance Zenimax withheld great sales numbers so they wouldn't be perceived as "bragging."Well, not everyone feels the need to brag it up when they do well (if I won the lottery, do you think I'd tell anyone?! I sure as hell wouldn't make myself look much richer than I am now, with the exception of maybe breaking down and buying a reliable/utilitarian vehicle.)
I totally disagree. There is 0 incentive for them to release numbers. If they stated 5 million sold people would say FAIL!!! WoW has 7.5. If they say 1 Million people will say FAIL we expected 3 Million. No matter what number they put out people will use it to fuel arguments that the game is failling and it will only lead people who are happily playing to leave. No one new is going to come because they say they sold a high number but people will leave if they think the number is to low.
Skyrim is a totally different business model there are no subs so publishing those numbers just made the company look better. Currently publishing numbers can do nothing but harm ZOS.

If they sold even 2 million they would have put out a press release milking that, saying how those were just the PC sales alone, look out for ESO on consoles soon, etc.
All I know is I has 5 guilds ,and the amount of grayed out slots representing those who don't log in verses those in tha guild that are logged in is massive, the exodus hasn't begun, it's happened, it's done.
Yeah right. Wanna know where those people went? In my guilds.. but not telling you why, they asked me no to...

And I have 5 guilds full of active members who have been there since day one of Early Access. Maybe you should recruit more steadfast members.
http://massively.joystiq.com/2014/01/09/forbes-eso-subscription-model-a-compounding-factor-to-risk/ and here http://www.forbes.com/sites/insertcoin/2014/01/02/predicting-the-biggest-disaster-of-2014-the-elder-scrolls-online/ Pathetic? naa you just have another cup of coffee and have yourself a good day.
I have irrefutable proof that this Forbes blogger is wrong:
I quit playing the game because it was not fun, NOT because of the subscription. So, ESO will go F2P not because people won't pay subscriptions, but because the game wasn't fun. Same thing that happened to SWTOR.
Also, an interesting bit of trivia...when I clicked on the Forbes link to read the article, I was greeted with a popup add for ESO. >.<

I agree. The silence is telling.
