They should just remove the skill until it's fixed, this now widely known bug is spreading like wild fire and it is preventing campaigns where factions are small from defending properly.

Siege weapons is our way of pushing back an assault, and defending our keep. Every siege effect, use, and intention is completely negated just by one jerk who decides to abuse this broken bug.

"hotfix" is a strange way to put it, Zenimax. Remove the skill until fixed, or just fix the bug now. We shouldn't have to wait until you drop Craglorn on us (which has already been delayed to who knows when) to fix this bug, that should really take no trouble to fix at all. It really just makes PVP an all offensive field, where now larger numbers can do whatever they want.

With strategic placing, my alliance used to be able to defend keeps somewhat well against the enemy's large force, but now they just roll right on through no problem, completely overpowering us with numbers.

All these bugs at the beginning of PVP and all the exploiters are winning their campaigns, and have farmed and earned so much AP for being cheaters.

Honestly this game rewards exploiting, that's how I've seen it as an honest player who never abuses bugs and sees no punishment being handed out on those who do exploit.

Just saw 20 EP pile under a ram and throw caltrops down. No siege shields..no purges.. JUST BAM 6 oils+ a fire ballsita did no damage to them

WTB Battlegroudns with no siege...at this point.

If you can't quickly hotfix this....... what can you do?

My guild has a firm stance against exploiting. However, I'm at that finite point where I'm really thinking, "If you can't beat 'em, join 'em". Afterall, what's the worst thing that happens? We get more AP? They're not banning anyone even though we've sent in tons of videos of this exploit to CS. The same people come on the next day and do the same thing. Heck we've sent in videos of other exploits of people running modded clients (speed hacking etc) and the people are still there, doing the same thing even though they get reported day, after day, after day.

Again, what's the worst thing that will happen? More AP. Zenimax -- I'm at that point to where I tell my guild to fight fire with fire unless you can confirm that cheaters and exploiters will be dealt with "HARSHLY" and I see these cheaters disappear from the game.

You guys all seriously rely on siege weapons to defend your keeps?

Of course not. I just ask nicely that the enemies don't take our keeps. It works almost as well as siege weapons.

Somebody called this thread a "Storm in a Teacup". I agree.

Is it really necessary to be so demanding and abusive? Wouldn't it be better if someone states the problem and 30 other people chime in and agree and perhaps elaborate on their personal experience.

    I'll start:

Yes, I saw this too. It was frustrating and ultimately my group disbanded for the evening to pursue PvE content. It's great to hear that there is a plan in place to fix this exploit!

So this was frustrating enough for your group to disband and play PvE content. It sounds like you agree this is a problem. Now for you, maybe you are fine with not doing PvP until the issue is fixed, but from what we have been told it sounds like the fix is weeks away.

If PvP was your main focus of the game, wouldn't you want that sooner or at least have them disable caltrops until a fix is in? These are not unreasonable requests by the PvP community. Their main point of enjoyment in this game (PvP) is being hindered by this bug.

My guess is they need to push the Craglorn update before they can push other updates. Once you have a code update into the production push cycle you need to finish pushing that through in order to make other updates, otherwise the previous updates will also go live with the little update before they are ready.

Attention Zenimax: Stamina builds don't hold up to magicka builds, and this is causing most of your class imbalance. It makes melee weapons and bows weaker than staves and class abilities. It makes medium and heavy armor less desirable than light armor. Fix this imbalance, and you'll address most of your balance issues.

Not unreasonable at all. My only point is that we should all try to keep our "nice hats" on. Weeks away is a drag. Being the developers of the game, I would think that they can appreciate the impact. They have likely given a time line that they feel they can reasonably achieve. We simply don't have enough information to judge so we should give them the benefit of the doubt and assume they are doing the best that they can under the circumstances.

sorry, but 15 bucks out of my pocket so others can cheat is unacceptable. On Wabbajack AD cant take a step without caltrops being thrown down. Siege for defense is utterly useless now.

I will give DC props .I rarely see them use caltrops. AD however..yall got a crutch man..its called addiction.

We simply don't have enough information to judge so we should give them the benefit of the doubt and assume they are doing the best that they can under the circumstances.

That is part of the problem though. We don't really know if they appreciate the impact. So then we are left to make assumptions as to why they won't address it sooner and people end up piling on because they want to make sure that they know it is a serious issue. I tend to believe it is one of two things.

Either first, they understand the impact. They can't introduce risk into the Craglorn update by fixing any more issues. And they are unable to simply disable caltrops in the meantime because their game systems are not setup to do so easily. So therefore they have to wait until Craglorn goes live and then push this fix sometime thereafter. If that is all they can reasonably achieve though, they have a problem. It means they do not currently have the capability to address issues like this quickly. And for the long term health of their game, they need to get this capability.

The second possibility is they don't understand the impact this is having on PvP so they are choosing not to address it sooner.

The other thing that I find worrisome is posts that claim this has existed since Beta. I am therefore assuming that it was reported in Beta. If it was, they should have fixed this long before now. You don't wait for an exploit to get abused before addressing the issue if it is known.

I give this feedback not to mean, but to be critical and honest so that they can improve because I want to play this game. I can't speak for others, but these are my intentions.

Just had a battle where most of DC used defensive Caltrops in full knowledge of the glitch.

Since it's essentially become public knowledge, I haven't seen a battle involving siege that didn't have caltrops littered all over the place. I've had to just keep changing targets to try and hit enemies outside the caltrop field. That does squat for oil pots though.

Sadly, Zenimax is dragging their heels with this. As they did with the Vampires who were running 4+ ults at the same time.

Was so much fun watching 3 large DC guilds guest into my low pop server in large numbers and then sit in caltrops. It's impossible to defend unless we could somehow manage to get more players (not happening on low pop)

Sad to discover theres large numbers of bad mannered players on all factions willfully using unintended game mechanics to punish the smaller groups/guilds in this game.

Now, if they actually simply played the game as intended while zerging us down with more than double our numbers id be so happy. Instead all i get is to log out of the game another day feeling like Zenimax isnt adressing the issues that matter to the majority of players.

Edit: Oh and i forgot, There is still no official response to ninja scroll/keep grabs by using a player on the other faction to pull your team into a keep. This issue has been abused for close to a month and they have yet to comment on it, let alone do anything about it.

I had to abuse it all night in order to stay competitive against the other faction who uses it. If I didn't use caltrops I would have lost ground. Every single group i've been in on my side, uses it, every single enemy group i've encountered uses it. therefore, thousands of players are using it.

Siege shields don't even go up anymore. just fields of spikes

I bet this didn't get bug reported when it was discovered. Instead it got exploited to death, probably starting like 10 days or less after launch. Now, 50+ days later someone brings it up -_-..... "Everyone knows about it by now" but no one said anything till 2 days ago. Well, there is probably a age old post about it somewhere but it just looks to me, buy the lack of being fixed by now, that its just getting talked about. Needs a hotfix pronto. Remove Caltrops if it isn't an easy fix.

In any case, now I know why Attackers use caltrops so much.

This is pandemic, players exploiting this should be banned. It's really sad seeing the complete lack of care on behalf of Zeni, as previously stated there is no logical reason not to just deactivate the skill until it can be fixed.

This bug is getting way out of hand and needs to be fixed, but if you think that when they fix it you will be able to defend a keep with siege again you are mistaken. Siege Weapon Shield, the morph of Siege Shield, reduces damage of siege weapons by 90%... How long do you think it will be till the massive zergs have that and use it? Siege will still be useless against a zerg. Good thing there are no AOE caps yea? Oh wait there are... hmmm zerg has no counter. Flank them, surround them, siege them it doesn't matter if you have less numbers you loose. PVP will die. casuals don't have enough people to group with to play that way. They can join the guild zerg, but that's boring and you can do it for free with gw2. Hardcore pvpers don't want to play that way because it sucks. Every campaign will have a dominant higher pop faction that will own the map. The outnumbered factions will give up. No amount of tactics will beat numbers with the game design that they chose. It's sad really. ESO had so much potential.
