I agree that in the future they will need to think of more "end game" content for people reaching V10 but for now, it's just fine and not the Armageddon you're making out.

I make no claim to armageddon. Just asking if other MMOs had as many issues as this one had on launch. Everyone claims that "every MMO has huge issues at launch!", and always elude to WoW being worse, yet I haven't really heard anything on par with what we've experienced. Nor has any claim about classes without talents, "loot bugs", or several hour long queues been verified other than being passed down like urban legends.
Turns out, this is not the game for you

http://www.wowwiki.com/Bug there you go. Took me all of two seconds to type in. But I'm curious why you ask others about their experiences then imply they are unfounded claims?

So what new (or newish) AAA MMO would fit what OP is looking for?

Thanks for linking me to a broad bug article on every single bug found in the entirety of WoW. That's very useful, and I definitely plan on spending the time to comb through it for launch bugs.

Everything I do is to perplex you. #winning But I'm curious, why do you ask me my intentions then imply I should believe what anybody says? Did you know that 60% of the time that seems like trolling 100% of the time? Don't check the numbers, just believe me! (since we're all supposed to just believe anything anyone says)

Here, I'll be slightly serious. If the bugs were as "game breaking" as they're made out to be, there would be screenshots, videos, and articles on this magical series of tubes known as the internet. Apparently, asking for a source is just too much.

Funny thing is, I've looked for proof of this mythical "loot bug" and it's nowhere to be found. Let's see... an unverifiable claim that has no merit other than being passed from one mouth to another... sounds like a story, legend, hoax, or rumor to me.

And despite your backhanded "it took all of two seconds to type", I've actually spent a bit longer than "all of two seconds" to attempt to verify these stories people are telling. They're just trying to butter up ESO (by tearing others down) to look like a good launch, when it's not. It only serves to verify what I hypothesized.

I was looking for any other examples of poor launches, not just new (or newish) MMOs. Other than about 2 posts, all we've gotten so far amounts to hear say and vague references.

You like to think you are scoring points when in reality your being laughed at by anyone who was around during the launch for WoW. Hey whatever flips your boat. 3/10 for this thread.

I was around for the WoW launch. There were issues, true, but otherwise that first year or so was the best gaming experience of my life. I max-laxelled several characters, a lot of that levelling done in dungeon pugs, raided and more. Never felt like I was locked out of anything because I wasn't elite enough -- I think this one of the key things, if not the key thing that made WoW such a success.

The most Obvious answer would be FF14 Version 1.0. They took the game down for months to redo the whole game. If that doesn't trump, i get stuck at a loading screen, or I cant finish the quest, or i had an hour long login queue, i don't know what does.

Attention Players: Server Alpha is going down for maintenance.
    Estimated DownTime 8 Months.

Unfortunately, you are asking for proof of something that happened in 2004 or so...which is pre-youtube (youtube came out in 2005 I think, and wasn't big till much much later). Also, how exactly do you take a screenshot of lag? "LOOK! As you can see from this screenshot, my character isn't moving!"

Also, Blizzard does not have any patch notes on their site earlier than 2006. And wowwiki.com sometimes has the entire patch notes, and sometimes just says things like "deployed a client-side change that should improve performance" for some of the earlier patch notes without any details.

But, here's some posts from 2004 or so about WoW's launch that I found in google with the search "World of warcraft loot lag" for the range of time 2004-2006

    http://www.gamerswithjobs.com/node/11714
"Tried to login and i waited over 30min in the que only to be reset so i logged for a while in frustration. Came back on a bit later waited in que for over 40 min and finally got in to find the newbie areas to be just insane. Not that i didn't expect them to be overcrowded but it took me a good 4 hours just to get out of the newbie area at Northshire Abbey which normally took me an hour or less.

Not to mention the loot lag. So i finally get out of noob area only to find Goldshire to be even worse. I attempted the quests around goldshire but after spending over 2 hours at lev 5 just trying to do one quest i said you know what this isn't worth it and logged. I tried to go back onto the low pop server i had tried earlier only to be met with que position 385 est wait 86 min. So i logged off and now i'm posting here."

Here's a quote in that post from a WoW dev
"Resolving World of Warcrafts current performance issues and upgrading our current hardware in preparation for The Burning Crusade is Blizzards #1 priority. Were all World of Warcraft players too, and we know how frustrating it is when you experience loot lag, get disconnected fighting a boss, or miss the beginning of your 8:00 PM AQ raid because you cant log in. Weve been working around the clock to respond to the issues as they arise, and we will continue to do so for the life of the game."

    http://worthplaying.com/article/2004/12/7/reviews/21045/
    A review for WoW vanilla
"The launch was not without its issues, as Blizzard sold more copies than the servers could handle, resulting in long queue times to get in the game on certain servers, and an issue called "loot lag" has continued over from beta. Loot lag is a delay that happens when you click on a monster to loot it, oftentimes resulting in several minutes' lead time before it shows up on your screen. It's getting in the way of some people completing quests, so this isn't going to remain an issue much longer, but it's worth mentioning."

news story about how often the servers were down, many of the comments people posted below the story talk about loot lag and/or lag spikes while looting (which is the same thing) as well.
