Muzzle WW Recruiters (Aldcroft/Skywatch/Ebonhart)

Apparently, whoever programmed these was not around for the original Stuga... The repetitive dialogue is beyond annoying at this point, although thankfully I've just completed the seasonal endeavour that brings this issue sharply into focus. And I know from at least one other thread that I am not the only one to be irritated by this.
  1. The recruiters are too close to the Freerunners boards and chests, so the same dialogue is triggered every time you go to pick up or turn in a quest
  2. Two of the NPCs are located out of line of sight more than 70 m away, but still get loud dialogue triggered!
  3. Unlike some of the NPC questgivers (Riggurt in Rimmen, for example) there is no time-out on the dialogue. So you will hear it at both pickup and turn in, and may hear it again as you leave even though only 30 seconds has elapsed

This really, REALLY, needs to change. All in favour, please upvote and second by posting.

Could you share a screenshot of these recruiters? I'm not sure which ones you're talking about.

They're Leane Luseph and Zaliq, and they never stop with their lines. It's actually quite annoying.

    There's another thread about it:

Very annoying, especially the sniffing part.

Yes indeed. I hate that sniff so much that I've started going to my audio settings and turning dialogue all the way down when I do my favors. It's a clunky workaround, but I was driven to desperate measures because of that sniff.

What's really annoying about this is that the recruiters aren't even in line-of-sight of you when you go to the freerunner boards - they're actually >70m away and, in two cases, not on a direct path. Their individual trigger radius for their dialogue is simply way too large. Here's the one in Skywatch, for example - the star marks the location of the WW NPC:

    51zko3uhjraq.png
    77fnj3qigbcm.png

And here's the distance from the Freerunner board to the WW NPC in Aldcroft - the NPC is located behind the building on the upper boardwalk, while the Wayshrine is off to the right out of shot:

    qd4rth1mpxv6.png

(ETA - look how far off the aim point is from the Freerunner NPC, yet the game is still locking on to her!)

The one in Ebonhart is at least visible from the board, but you should NOT be triggering dialogue at this distance:

The Khajiit seems to be a Vampire NPC if you look closely at his eyes. He also talks about thirst, while the lady talks about hunger.

I can definitely see how this would be irritating. All of the NPC locations are close enough to the board to be heard, but many of them aren't even within your line of sight.

It's also weird that two of these locations has an NPC promoting werewolves, while only one location has an NPC promoting vampires.
Apparently both Zalig and Leane Luseph appear in all three zones, it's just that conveniently one of them appears within earshot of each board.

@LootAllTheStuff Ive done some observations on both at all 3 zones on PS-NA, perhaps you may do something similar to check on your platform on the voiceline trigger distance thresholds. The findings are in my comment in the link above. On PS-NA the omni-directional ones seem to be 105m on same-elevation, and up to 115m for different-elevation (maybe the trigger threshold is not a flat X-Y plane but a 3D band or sphere ?).

Im all for more voices and eyes on this matter, dont care for duplicated threads. And as a record to check if ZOS follows up on fixes to expectation.

Here's a clip of the Breton WW, Leane Luseph, in Skywatch, Aldcroft and Ebonheart. The sniffing is down to her:

That's the thing though - the dialogue is heard when you are much further away from them than any other quest-giving NPC in the game! Compare them to Riggurt in Rimmen, the Argonian seeking revenge outside the Mournhold central building, or even Leramil at the Necrom wayshrine - NONE of them are triggered until you get very close and, even then, the frequency of their dialog is greatly limited. These NPCs should be the same, especially since the one in Aldcroft sounds like she's standing right next to you as you head straight from the wayshrine to the board, but she's so far away and also behind a building!

Zalig in Auridon is by far the most annoying. Running from the WS to the Favours board triggers him, and his dialogue finishes just as you get back to the WS after grabbing the quest. So you get back to back spam.

Honestly, the better answer is to delete them from the game entirely.

Think about it: we can get the quest starter for free in the Crown Store. We can walk up to the shrines to get it for free. And then the option of getting a bite from a player or NPC enemy also still exists.
Do we really need another option for what is essentially a pointer quest?

After all, is calling out to every random adventurer to join your pack/coven really a smart idea in the first place? Logically you’re running the risk of poor OPSEC and are likely to end up alerting the Vigilants of Stendarr to your location, and then they’ll come in to clear you out.
Squeakers the Hamster would be disappointed.
(Bonus points to anyone who gets that reference)

Agreed. It makes no sense for these recruiters to be recruiting so publically.

The range on some of these guys is hilarious. You can hear the Khajiit in Skywatch from the spot where you help Aelif fight daedra for the first Fighters Guild quest. What were they thinking?

I think these recruiters are a good thing for increasing visibility to these curses. I don't think they should have such a large range (players can't even see the daily quest marker over their heads in some cases) but I think they should be somewhere in the zone to teach new players that these curses exist and guide them to acquiring them if the player chooses.

The Cat is hearing everything and making devious plans with how badly these NPCs have been spreading the news of packs/covens. Squeakers is very disappointed in you, NPCs.

(Also it's uncomfortable to be sniffed like that by someone who ISN'T my actual cat)

I think there is a reason to have them in the game, just as I think pack merchants should be there because it is not very immersive to buy more space directly from my inventory. They should be like the DB questgiver who is in the Outlaw Refuge saying “pssst” to you as you pass by.

I logged out yesterday at the crafting area in Aldcroft. Logged in today and the first thing I hear is <sniiiiiif> which you can also hear from the Freerunner board half the town away. It's ridiculous. Even Corporal Bredrek only said his line once, even if he did tail you throughout Riften.

I know I'm griping in every one of these threads but it's so annoying especially on my WW characters, because it's unnecessary. Tone them down, put them in less places or just get rid of them. I agree with tomofhyrule, do we really need a second layer of NPCs for the curses and would they be so bold?

I think they add some flavour to the werewolf and vampire quests, but they're not well implemented. Reduce the radius significantly, lower the volume (eg. Leane in Ebonheart is loud), and don't let them repeat their lines more than once per day.

The most logical place for these guys to be is close to the vampire and werewolf shrines, out n the sticks and away from the cities. City guards would just run such creatures out of town - or kill them.

How often are players discovering these shrines on their own, though? It makes more sense for these characters to be recruiting in a dark alleyway where they might catch the right people than it does for them to be recruiting at their secret shrine.
