Cannot put Night Market Relic on the pedestal in Night's Den

So I received a letter informing me now that I've got the relic I could put it in Night's Den. And I go for the pedestal only to be able to 'Examine' it. I then pressed F5 to go for my furniture inventory. Found no relic.

What enigmatic procedures did I miss?

You need to be in house building mode.

The relic comes together with other furniture by mail. Open it and take your furniture relic.
    A is for Atronach.
    B is for Bungler's Bane.
    C is for Comberry.

Thank you all for your reply, but

WHY DOES ZOS HAVE TO MAKE IT THAT CONFUSING?

Why not put the relic on that pedestal USING THE NORMAL INTERACTION BUTTON?

Just so you can stuff our inventory to sell the ESO+? I cancelled the subscription. This is too much.

    Sorry. Only 'use' without 'place'.

Be in building mode, search for the relic by name in the list of your furnishings, place it like any normal piece of furnishing on the pedestal (like you would place a candlestick on a table).

If you cannot find it by name, make sure that you opened the mail that contained the relic (If I remember correctly, it was in a container. If so, make sure to open that container).

    For anyone who's bewildered:

    0. Open the container mailed to you, and there will be many furniture pieces to eat into your inventory.
    1. Press F5 and R (with keyboard) to enter editing mode.
    2. Go to Gallery -> Honors and Awards.
    3. And you need to put the relic manually.

Fiddled with that on two accounts yesterday until I realized that I had to crack the furnishings reward crate to get the relic into Collections so that I could actually place it on the pedestal. Not a particularly intuitive system.
I'm fresh out of outrage, but I could muster up some amused annoyance if required.

I also thought I had been granted the relic furnishing already when I got the memento. But, once I figured out I didn't have the furnishing yet, it was easy enough to do. I agree it could be a bit more intuitive but I guess they had to do it that way since they gave both a furnishing and a memento.

At least they gave us some nice crown store furnishings too to make up for it.

Once you have the achievement that grants the furnishing box, which should have it inside.

I think the vendor option is there in case something goes wrong with the delivery mail (or if people happen to look there first rather than taking or opening the box).

Yeah, should have clarified. I got it and still haven't opened the mail.

Yeah, it’s a bit of an inconvenience either way. The mail takes up an inventory slot; the vendors are only in specific locations.

I don’t get why the achievement doesn’t automatically added the relic to collections. They’ve been doing that for years, at least since Summerset, if not before.

There are no relic furnishings to purchase from the vendor that I've ever seen. But perhaps they appear as a failsafe if for some reason the mail gets deleted.

The relic furnishing comes in the mail in a box also containing 25-40 other furnishings (depending on the faction wing). As far as I know, that is the only way to acquire it. And it's a collectible, so it can't be lost or destroyed. The furnishings can be found under Gallery -> Honors and Awards from the housing editor. And you just place them right down on top of/within the holo-relic filling the same space.

    They're there. And they're free.

I actually prefer to get it from the faction vendor. Did I mention that it's free? On my main account on NA, I got the mails, opened them, and got the relics that way. But boy did I ever regret that. So many pieces of bound furnishings cluttering my inventory! And they're not unique or special furnishings; they'll all craftable. Yet bound. So for my alt accounts and for EU, I just got the replicas from the faction vendor and keep those coffers sealed up and unopened.
