- Assassination is too strong, it grants too much crit chance making it mandatory in PvE while having the hardest hitting skill in the game with many other skills that buff it further making it mandatory in PvP. This is the only skill line in the game that is generically top tier for both PvE and PvP builds.
- Shadow is mixed, it is very strong in solo PvP, but falls short in other areas of the game. It focuses too hard on self mitigation, which hurts it in other areas (group play and PvE tanking) that revolve more around group support.
- Siphoning is in a decent spot, without the insane crit bonuses of Assassination, offering and tether feels way more balanced. Siphoning strikes is still a potential issue but is down the list of current balance issues.
Necro:
- Gravelord is finally (mostly) in an ok spot (numbers wise), it just still feels clunky to play with slow projectiles, or wonky tethers. Speeding up skulls projectile speed and more ways to allow self-targeting of the tethers would go a long way to fixing this line.
- Bone Tyrant looks ok on paper, just too reliant on the clunky corpse mechanic, having plenty of corpse consumers, but few generators.
- Living Death (outside of the wonkiness of the ultimate), is actually in a good spot. It's just out performed by stronger lines.
Plar:
- Aedric Spear is a very strong line providing a lot of unique bonuses to both DPS and mitigation. Ideally all skill lines for all roles would be at slightly below the power level of this line with strong reasons to pick them, but limitations on their power.
- Dawn's Wrath is strange, it's a strong line for PvE, BiS for a dedicated execute phase build, but there's a lot of things that could use adjusting to give it other uses.
- Restoring Light is one of the best healing lines in terms of raw healing, especially for PvP where cleanse is much more useful. The main reason it is not the top healer line for PvE as well is due to the minor toughness granted from Warden's Green Balance line having more use in PvE than cleanse.
Sorc:
- Daedric Summoning is too dependent on Storm calling + prey for the pets to deal meaningful damage, but then it also houses the class heals and the other Sorc lines don't have good DoT options outside of Hurricane specifically.
- Dark Magic is amazing for sustain, but with how free sustain has gotten, this makes this entire line borderline useless for the modern game. It doesn't help that this tanking/support line houses the class spammable.
- Storm Calling looks amazing on paper with Streak, Hurricane and crit surge as well as some nice generic DPS bonuses, but it falls short because the active abilities that are meant to deal damage are just bad. Fury is the worst execute in the game and Lightning splash still falls short even with the recent buffs because current DPS abilities revolve around stacking as many secondary effects/procs/buffs/debuffs to buff damage beyond what the tooltips show and many sorc DPS abilities don't have this aspect.
DK:
- Ardent Flame is a strong DPS line, just missing DK's Best DoT (talons). Considering the class soft taunt (chains) is in this line, this would be an easy swap to fix imo.
- Draconic Power has a lot of the class's self buffing utility, but has the burst ultimate (leap) and best DoT (burning talon's morph of talons). While swapping chains with talons is an easy fix for DK DPS, Leap is harder to solve because standard is the best DPS ultimate for PvE, so want's to stay on the DPS line.
- Earthen Heart is a mixed line, it has some mandatory utility for PvE tanks/support roles (magma armor, stone giant, igneous shield, mountain blessing, etc) but there are a lot of issues with this line in terms of sustain.
Warden:
- Animal Companions is a very good line with only 1 real outlier (netch). Netch needs a cost given to it considering it's brut/sorc + cleanse + unique damage done modifier + sustain that works with block/sprint. Dive could use a better projectile speed and animation to make it less clunky to use compared to other spammables and swarm could do with a slight buff considering how prevalent minor vulnerability has gotten.
- Green Balance is in a really good spot right now. The healing is not overpowered, but it is the only source of minor toughness that makes it near mandatory for healers (in both PvE and PvP). Why this line is not as problematic as Assassination despite being nearly as mandatory is because stacking this line on all healers doesn't improve the niche it brings to the healer role, while having assassination on all DPS is just a no brainer.
- Winter's Embrace is in a strange spot, this line has a lot of potential behind it, but it's behind other comparable lines due to the constant adjustments/limitations applied to it to force it into being used with frost staves.
Arc:
- Herald of the Tome is BiS for PvE DPS due to beam just being an insane ability with the damage of single target spammables, but with near full cleave, at range and comes with a massive damage shield to protect its caster. The issue with this line is beam is too clunky in PvP and the other abilities are behind comparable alternatives in other class lines.
- Curative Runeforms is HotT, but for healing. All the healing power has been put into Healing Cascade, leaving little budget for the other abilities in this line.
- Soldier of Apocrypha seems in a decent spot, providing a lot of group utility for the tank role while not completely overshadowing other tank lines.
Assuming we are talking about a full redesign of the class and not just a numbers tweak balance pass, I guess I would vote for Sorc to get a rework. However, if we are talking about a simple balance pass, my vote would go to NB for this "rework" instead.
All 3 Sorc class lines are just too intermingled/dependent on each other to function on their own under the current sub-classing design and the class abilities all lack the secondary effects/buffs/debuffs/procs that other class abilities have that enable them to buff their abilities beyond what the base abilities/tooltips show.
So unless sub-classing gets redesigned entirely (i.e. all class lines are reworked to be more synergistic with their other class lines instead of being stand-alone lines like Sorc currently is), Sorc would get my vote here since it's almost a guarantee that sub-classing will never be reverted, so might as well have all classes able to interact with this system on the same level.

Very good breakdown. Agree with a lot of it, if not all of it.
Stay safe
