French voice acting

Dear ZOS,

It's already been a while since you released two new dungeons and there still isn't any French voice acting for those dungeons the French version of the game. (The German version is fine with the same content.) There have been MULTIPLE maintenances and updates and still no fixes for this. So then you release Solstice (which does have the voice acting). Time passes and there's zero French voice acting for the Writhing Wall event in the French version of the game. I'm running around finishing camps hearing some American blurp out "The camp is secure." I'm paying to play this game in French, a language that ESO has always been advertised as being available in.

This doesn't go on the French version of the forums because that'd be like a sheep saying hi to a wolf. [snip] I have friends who have played this entire game in French since its release without problems who are now telling me, "Hey, I look forward to completing the quests for the new dungeons that were released a good while ago. I can't now because I can't understand what's being said in English."

Solution: Tell your French team to get busy. We're a number of people who are waiting impatiently for this basic thing to be fixed.

french forum team has been fired without telling us, for 1 or 2 years now.

Were the French voice actors also fired?
Could French speakers please get some love from ZOS ?

A french streamer communicated last year about that, saying the Bethesda France Community Manager Office get closed which certainly mean mods for the french forum too. For what I remember he said they got remplaced by freelancer or something and my guess is that for the forum (which is dead) it's just bots to be sure no bad stuff are said.

With all the layoff from Microsoft I wouldn't be surprised that they first cut the non-english teams.

Both Bethesda and ZOS were part of Zenimax Media, now owned by Microsoft. While they do share a parent company, the entities themselves are seperate. Unless you have specific knowlegde that the Bethesda France Community Manager Office has anything to do with ZOS it's pure speculation.

That's an interesting tweet from April 2024 that I had not seen before. Based on the text, the author seems to have had a direct, real-life connection to the offices and employees in France.

If there have been shutdowns or layoffs but ZOS continues providing this game in French then the function should be moved elsewhere in their organization but still taken properly care of. The Elder Scrolls Online is advertised as being available in French and some players buy it specifically for this parameter, including existing players who obviously expect the game they've always played in French to not have NPCs blurting out dialogue in English.

As a customer, under normal circumstances I would be returning the product - Feast of Shadows (the dungeons) and Seasons of the Worm Cult (Part 1/Solstice) - because the product does not meet the advertised standard.

The problem should be fixed immediately, especially since ZOS has already kicked it to the curb in previous maintenances and updates.

Bethesda Softworks is the publisher, that does not mean it has input in day-to-day operations of the game studio - in this case ZOS. So yes, it's still speculation.

You'd need knowledge of the corporate structure and who reports to who.
