One maintenance every weekend wasn’t enough? Now it’s two maintenances per week? xD

Maintenance on Oct 27, another on Oct 29 and now yet another coming up on Nov 3.. three maintenance sessions in a 7 day timeframe seems a little excessive.

Well I could ask if we're gonna get an extra day on the Witches Festival at this point, but if we do there's likely gonna be maintenance on that day anyway

ESO maintenance is now three times more frequent than garbage day!

I'm don't complain about maintenance often but this is really excessive at this point. This maintenance isn't really going to affect my personal playtime but it makes me nervous that maintenance would be needed so often.

Well, some very weird things are happening today. Weapons are changing appearance i.e, staves turn into daggers. And my characters will start "dancing" and not casting attacks. Multiple /reloadui 's and logging in and out just to talk to a NPC. Markers all over the place ...

It’s the standard quarterly one, but I wonder why it had to be now. Presumably that one can be delayed to an opportune time.

Don’t hold your breath for “during no events” though since we are going to have grindathons events all the way through New Life ending in early January.

But the fact that there are major gamebreaking bugs right now (like weapon passives just falling off on barswap and some enemy animations just not playing at all forcing Bahsei to teabag constantly) means another maintenance is absolutely necessary.
…unfortunately, they don’t care about bugs that affect combat, so I guess we have to wait like two weeks before we can have prog groups again?

It's not listed as the scheduled standard quarterly one, and the last of those was barely 3 weeks ago.

    27th was patch maintenance.
29th was patching the patch maintenance.
    3rd is normal maintenance.

Someone told me there’s more maintenance in ESO than there are players in Cyrodiil queues.
well, Maybe the servers are training for their own trial, The Sanctum of Scheduled Shutdowns or maybe ZOS is farming downtime achievements.

Two weeks ago there was maintenance for all servers' regular quarterly maintenance. Why could this backend updating not have been done then?

    🤣 Ban Bahsei for toxicity!

Also I bet you a drink and a meal that nothing meaningful will be fixed. Maybe some quest text and a random furnishing fix like a high elf cupboard shouting cat slurs.

I live 12 hours ahead of Eastern Time. So maintenance occurs during my afternoon and evening. Don't even ask me how I feel about 3 days of my week getting nuked. I learned long ago not to let ESO be my "only game." Now I can barely get away with "one of my games."

How many isn't a issue for me but the fact it's down for 8 hours every time is excessive and it's always peak Australian time!!

I guess the maintenance explains why we are so far behind in the wall event as well compared to consoles especially when 8 hours is prime time for PC NA

Gotta love how there's another "more maintenance" thread visible (locked), and it took me until the very bottom of the page to realize it's actually from 2024. The same arguments, the same problems over and over. Things really haven't changed.

You reminded me of something. I saw my companion with a shield when they clearly had a staff. That has been happening a lot lately.

No question they are overdoing it with the maintenance every couple of days now. But then again, it used to be worse. At least for us Europeans they stopped doing maintenance in primetime a while ago.

Let's hope those bugs actually get fixed then - because there's nothing in the message from Kevin implying that this is the cause of the maintenance. If you see the message, you'll note it just says "critical backend updates". It also mentions the store and account system. Nothing about incremental patch, or anything of the sort. I'm glad you're optimistic about the bugs being fixed though, and that you express it in such a calm and respectful manner to those of us who are concerned.

Could someone please explain me (I'm ex wow player) why maintenance in ESO takes so long? And why it is during the day? I can't comprehend it.
I understand when it's a release of a huge content update, but not every week.
I remember back in 2023 people lost their minds when blizzard made one time maintenance from 3am to 11 am. But here it's like every week and sometimes even 2 times per week and people are ok with it?

if it would be only about store and account system they would not need to bring servers down. critical backend also may have an impact on current gamebreaking bugs, so proly we will get some stuff fixed. who knows, who knows, but still whining about maintenance in the game which has issues - stupid idea. and about maintenance at all, coz it would be great if servers would reboot every week/twice per week (steam does it every week)

I think if the maintenance work was carried out at night, for example at 5 am and took up to 30 minutes, then there would be no complaints at all.
And people complain only because in the case of ESO it is 6-8 hours during the day.
Why it's so hard to understand, no one in their mind is against of fixing the game.

"Who knows?" Presumably ZOS knows, and could have told us. Historically, when hotfixes happen, the forum post will actually say that it is a hotfix and what is being urgently fixed. It doesn't this time. It's not the players' job to guess and do ZOS' PR work for them.

Also, of course they will need to take the servers down while fixing account systems. How do you suppose you're going to log into the game without the account systems? That's where your login info is.

Edit: As for Steam rebooting, it usually doesn't stay down for 8 hours. At least, I'd assume it doesn't - you people who use Steam more than I do can probably correct me on that.
