    During the afternoon of Loredas, 6 Sun’s Dawn 2e578 a big piece of Aetherius fell to Nirn. It was the first major piece of Aetherius to fall on Nirn in more than five hundred years. It scattered around the world as millions of shards. It was rapidly documented by Lady Cinnabar of Taneth in her pamphlet Aetherial Fragments that "... when three shards meet, they re-form into a silvery prism by unknown process and confer the power unlocked by the merger to a nearby being." The Order of the Black Worm, commonly known as the Worm Cult, reappeared in Tamriel shortly thereafter and some of its members are avidly searching said shards.
    In the last week of First Seed 2e579, an arcane explosion occurred in the Imperial City — a night of storms, and trembling terrain. They named it the "Soulburst". That day Emperor Varen Aquilarios disappeared without a trace. His wife, Clivia Tharn, ascended to the Ruby Throne as Empress Regent under the guidance of the Necromancer Mannimarco. Ushering a time of increased instability within the Empire of Cyrodiil which finally grew into “The Three Banners War”.

    This is the thing, see, back to the devs. RNG is not a Good Thing for this sort of event, where FOMO is supposed to play a part, because for every person who "got the drop on day 1!" there's a lot more frustrated players who may never see that sort of luck. Read the studies on learned helplessness, because this applies to MMO and dropbox-gambling style gaming. A percentage of people will always keep opening the box/grinding until they drop (especially if they are new players), but what more often happens is the less happens when expectations are high (as you raised them here), the more likely it is someone will go "eh. Nah. No point" especially if they have paid money to play, have been overhyped, or experience a huge run of bad luck when they hadn't already had good luck, or are long-term players. This low concept is great for mobile games, which people don't often play long-term, but does not do well in a decade-long MMO with SP tendencies.

    You're literally hobbling your own game with this nonsense (and I'd say the same even if my RNG this time around was good, for the principle remains the same and I don't have the "I'm all right so I don't care about what others experience" mentality).

    I feel I have to point out that yet again, there are a bunch of minor issues that popped up with this event. Sure, none are gamebreaking… but the fact that so many things are ending up going this way make the entire wall event as a whole look sloppily done.

    On PTS, we never tested every stage of the event: U47 dropped already at phase 2, and U48 at phase 3. We never tested U47 without the event active, U47 on phase 1 only, U48 on phase 1 only, or U48 on phase 2 only. As such, a lot of these issues (like Ghish spawning early) could not have been caught.

    The PTS volunteers also do not have the time or resources to test everything, particularly when RNG is involved. There was no way we could have reasonably tested that the invaded Jode’s Light delve was dropping its lead properly or that we would have thought to test the Bolgrul undaunted dailies. It seems like a strange choice that the team chose to set up invasions in the delves that were important for dailies and recent leads instead of invading some of the other delves in those zones that are not used at all to prevent conflicts. “Just wait a month!” should not be a solution to a quest or antiquity that cannot be completed.

    And again, this is assuming that any bugs or issues reported on PTS are addressed… which is more often than not not the case. So many bugs reported on PTS go live, and then it’s a scramble to fix them for incremental 1 or 2. Why not have the devs follow the reports on PTS and address those issues?! We already saw that barely anyone tested U48 because we have been burned so often by not having our feedback read at all (despite the patch notes always saying “we’re reading your feedback!”) and now U48 came with basically no changes save for two week-long events.

    We understand morale is probably low thanks to [gestures vaguely at everything], but the seeming carelessness of how this entire event has come out has really affected how players feel about the future of the game, and will definitely color the playerbase’s intentions to continue spending money for the next season or their continuing subscriptions. Please keep that in mind as you plan for how to reveal, test, and release Update 49 and beyond.

    To be fair here, we know they read the feedback for the PTS. Its probably more that they dont have time to read all of it, and even less time to respond and make changes before release.

    But the lack of response or changes makes it feel like its not read.

    I've seen this asked elsewhere but I have yet to see an official response from ZOS yet about it so putting it here in hopes of getting an answer. I have seen every miniboss for siege camps except for Watcher Zvarbin and Scamp Champion Doov. Many other friends and guildies are also missing these two and a quick search says almost everyone else is. I have one friend who has them and she was doing the event in the first few hours on PC NA and has yet to see them since. I think these two spawns are bugged and while the achievement doesn't need them all to complete, I know a lot of us were hoping to get all the boss spawns anyway. Can we get some sort of answer on this?

    Yep, we saw that too. Something happened during the Update 48 PC launch maintenance and we're investigating. We'll keep everyone updated.

    Would this have something to do with the two monomyth antiquity sites I can not get to because they are behind the writhing wall. Thats a real wrench in my plans.

    I made a post about this a couple weeks ago in the PTS section specifically asking what kind of feedback ZOS either want to get or can actually action, and unsurprising to no one, nobody from ZOS responded to it.

    I don't know why they're acting like it's some kind of trade secret, either just be transparent about what feedback you can actually use, what kind of feedback you don't want, or if we're just wasting our time providing anything feedback related at all - because all ZOS is doing with the avoidance of specifics and not actioning/even acknowledging 99% of feedback is just breeding discontent and annoyance. Eventually people get fed up and stop providing feedback completely because they feel like no matter what they say, nothing ever gets actioned. The PTS community is probably the deadest it's been since launch.

    Hey good morning!! I'm curious about something we're seeing with field marshals. In our previous conversation earlier in this thread, you let us know that you guys hotfixed the drop rates of work cult furnishings. We very much confirmed this in guild that day and a few days after. People were able to get the furnishings they wanted. But starting this weekend we're seeing a downturn. We're back to getting maybe 1 green furnishing every 10 to 12 drops. (Drops meaning when you actually get drops, not every 30 seconds when the marshal respawns) Are the inclusion of plunder skulls in the drop table hindering the furnishings from dropping? The increased drop rate of these were the Zos mia culpa for the dreadful blue boxes that you say you won't fix due to hot fix limits (even tho we all have maintenance this week hmmmmm)

    Can we have a look at this please? Thank you for your help and communication in this thread!

    Hello! We looked into this today and confirmed that the increased drop rates for the Field Marshals are still set to the higher rate. We also confirmed that there is zero overlap between their drops and Plunder Skulls drops, timers, drop tables, etc. We don't have an explanation for why things may seem different than before Witches Festival, unfortunately. All the numbers and settings are correct on the back-end.

    Must be that damn RNG. While disappointing, thank you for looking into it.

    Speaking of RNG, since the hotfix I’ve gotten gold coffers from the wall event and witches festival that only had a single piece of gear… is that intentional or yet another bug?

    Please consider increasing the drop odds for the rarer items. I've been grinding on PC-EU for the house from almost sunup to sun down and it will not drop. I would have given up by now, most likely, if it didn't drop for me on NA so quickly. It feels very frustrating to be participating in this event so heavily and not feel like you're being rewarded for it.

    Did today's hotfix inadvertantly revert the previous fix to the Vitrified Souls drop chance? Today on PSNA I'm back to only getting 1 or 2 vitrified souls from an entire Siege Camp incursion not being an uncommon occurance.

    Are the missing bosses for the Writhing Wall event ever going to be addressed? It is not even in the known issues post. It's pretty time sensitive.

    PC NA - took me 73 kills to get 15 RNGified souls and 38 kills to get 8 animal fats.

    I’m guessing it’s some management decision to flat out refuse to make these things guaranteed drops. They’re quest items, you can’t sell them, there’s no profit or anything to be made from them. It seems that when ZOS runs out of ways to keep people playing the game for fun they use these methods to inflate in-game time.

    5 hours farming dailies every day is not fun. Not that I had anything else to do. BUT THATS NOT THE POINT!
    (the 5 hours is taking into account me spacing out at staring at the walls for what seems like... forever)

    Any insight on why? Because it seems like the zone is full of questers, judging by my lag.

    I'm 11 years a sub and I stopped "questing" (grinding boring fetch quests) when they started fudging the numbers.

    People generally don't believe in a meter and doing stuff just getting a box, 3 of them or for alts exp. I honestly don't know a soul who is "doing their part", maybe some were the first day but after numbers started jumping around it's definitely affected people's perception, no matter if it's all fake or not.

    Also the very idea of running for a carrot that's already there, fully implemented, fully payed by you already, being gated for at least some weeks can be borderline insulting for some to even consider participation in this.

    PC EU. Between U48 and Wednesday‘s hotfix maintenance, I got a decent amount of souls from the camps. After the hotfix I got only one soul quest done with six camps…

    I feel you. I'm not the only one. We organized guild groups to go after these furnishings when they upped the drop rate. It was good for a couple days then poof. Nothing. Not the only weird thing to happen this event. Really I'd love to just see a real Mea Culpa. Hey we see you guys didn't like this one. We're making you fight over who gets the content they paid for already first. Wink.
    But we hear you. Walls down. Here's a box with the rewards, here's the house that should've been the capstone reward for this event until they figured we could charge you 100 bucks for it. We'll do better.

    Its not just the grind, its the grind with no incentive. The best rewards are paywalled and the pay walled rewards are lacking. Expectations, I feel were set high for PC-NA by both players and ZOS. It looks like everyone all around is disappointed.

    There wasn't a previous fix to the drop chance. They increased the drop rate, but there's a bug they found where the drop chance is inconsistent, and they can't fix it before the event ends:
    • We have also identified a technical bug resulting in some inconsistencies with quest item drops from monsters. While we are working on a fix, it will require more time and testing to fix than we can accomplish during this event.
    This is why, since the beginning of the event, some people are reporting having the souls drop super fast from groups of mobs, sometimes being able to complete the 15 souls in 1 or 2 trash pulls, and sometimes you have to kill 10-20 mobs to have a single soul drop. Nothing changed with the other day's hotfix.
