For the love of Mara. Please allow us to cancel exp buffs.

Dear ZOS

Please allow us to cancel exp buffs if that is what we, as adults, with full and informed consent, wish to do.

It is a nonsense, that we cannot replace a 50% exp buff with a higher % exp buff, if that is what we, the player, your customer, your clientele, wish to do.

This one is most vexed.

I'm glad that you have so many XP buffs lying around waiting to be wasted, in a fully informed, adult and consensual way.
Bridge building may be a viable option for you.

I never understood why xp buffs can't be overridden while there is no problem for food buffs. Makes no sense. As a result I have a lot of 2 hour 50% xp buffs I will likely never use.

Pray tell, building bridges? In what capacity must I build bridges? Where do I need to build a bridge? Or with whom, do I need to build a bridge?

Your statement makes no sense to me but please do explain as you would a child, so that I might understand your meaning. ;)

Anyhoo's. I will wager that most of the player base who have played more than a year or so, have a LOT of basic crown exp scrolls lying around. I accidentally used one instead of the Grand I had planned, so I could get some good exp during the event. However, it seems that I am not allowed to remove the previous exp buff, and replace it with a higher one.

I can switch out all my skills, all my morphs, all my attributes, I can change my build, override a food buff, but for some reason, I am prevented from removing or overriding an exp buff.

I am pretty sure that Meatloaf would have a thing or two to say on the matter.

You can cancel any consumable buff (XP, food and drinks) by right-clicking it under the Character menu (default key C).

I make a point to delete the 50% XP scrolls you get during levelling up a character to 50, accidentally used one and learnt I couldn't cancel the buffs, slowed stuff down for 2 hrs, when I wanted to use a 100% or 150% XP potions that I had made to speed levelling up a bit.

As for the ones from log in rewards I just dump them in a storage chest, probably never use them but I hang onto them just in case for some reason, if I could give them away I would.

Well at the time I didn't want to "play normally", and by that I believe you mean without any kind of exp buff. Had I wanted to play normally, then I would have played normally. But that is not what I wanted to do. ;)

What I wanted to do was take a 150% exp buff, so I could use this in conjunction with the 100% passive exp buff from the event to level up the new character I had just created.

I also didn't want to have to wait the two hours for the 50% exp buff I accidentally took to wear off before being allowed to use the 150% exp buff I hand intended to use in the first instance.

However I was prevented from playing the game my way by ZOS because I was not allowed to override a 50% exp buff with a 150% exp buff.

I was simply making a request to ZOS to allow us to override lower level exp buffs with higher level ones. I mean, why we are prevented from doing this is just a nuisance and serves no discernible purpose other than to frustrate the player.

I can imagine what would happen the first time someone accidentally overrode a 150% buff with a 50% scroll.

To be fair, allowing higher level bonuses to overwrite lower ones would make sense, but isn't worth the dev time nor risk of breaking stuff in the spaghetti code at this point.

While I don't think this will happen, I'd support it for the opposite reason. As I understand it, event bonus xp is automatically applied these days although it doesn't appear in your buffs. That means I no longer have the choice as to whether I use the bonus xp in an event or not, and there are times when I'm levelling plenty fast enough without it and don't want it.

I throw mine on my alts. I don’t play them enough to justify the higher % scrolls but it means they get a little boost doing Writs or whatever I end up doing with them.

This. The only time I burn big ones on alts is when it's an alt in the mid-40s I want to get to 50 during an event.

Do you know what will happen when you try cancel XP buff scroll?

    Anyway...
At least devs can reduce time of 50% from 2h to 1h or increase time from 1h to 2h for 100% and 150%

    And about canveling or overriding...
I can see complains about it...
I accidentally override it / I accidentally canceled it!

Agreed. I would be Ok with an "are you sure" for cancellation, and leaving it so that scolls can't override each other. Seems like a fair compromise.

I just wanted to refresh this topic... we still would like to be able to remove exp buffs! I want the exp scroll buff till lvl 10 and then i want it Off! so im literally sitting around doing something else and letting this silly timer run down. I do not want the buff any more! geesh I don't understand the logic behind this decision.
  • Granden_Woodleafson
Its just another hindrance to players wanting to advance too fast I guess; trying to figure out why you would want this "feature" when everything else overwrites itself (you can override potions and food with other potions and food). A little tweak just to hold you back a little bit is the only thing I can think of.

I wish there was a way to opt out of the "100% xp boost for everyone!" ... without simply not playing. I don't use the scrolls (well, very rarely) and I don't want my characters to speed-race up levels.

Have to agree. I like taking my time with my lowbies, a way to disable the always on buff, even if it is in a form that has to be renewed every time we log in, would be appreciated. Sometimes I'd like to play my lowbies, and end up shelving them until whatever event is over.

imo this was an oversight. and it stayed that way, since.

lack of time? forgotten? something like that. I don't think this was the intent.

    please fix, ZOS.

There are several things like this that make no sense, such as why leniency vouchers cannot be traded, surveys etc. I've ran into this one before though and it's weird. Just waited it out but still was annoying.
