You would be surprised how many people post but do not play anymore for whatever reason.

I play a lot when I am enjoying the game and not as much when I start getting bored. Right now, I am actually playing not that much and giving my money to World of Warcraft. When the new zone and subclassing come out, I will probably play a bit more.

It's not that strange because people are creatures of habit.

After quitting ESO for the first time, I continued to follow the forums for at least six months after, mostly out of habit, but also because I had such a high neuronal investment, so it took some time for me to stop thinking about ESO, even though I had become repulsed by it.

the problem with WoW is that you only ever get to play the latest 4-5 zones in an expansion cycle unless you roll alts or farm old collectibles in the now outdated and trivialized content. unlike ESO the old zones when a new expac launches become totally irrelevant and it's a big bummer.

repeating the same 4-5 zones for an entire year is so tiring.

I feel like most of the no votes will be players who used to play. I can't imagine bothering with a game forum of a game you've never played and have no intention of playing. I mean, there's always that one guy. But, still.

I agree with others that people visiting this forum are most probably still playing, otherwise they wouldn't be here.

Beside, "playing" ESO could need a more precise definition. I have several friends who logon once in a while for a "check", logging off after hardly more than 15 minutes (they're waiting for better times), and a few others who logon every 2 or 3 days, to do some dailies/trading, in order not to be kicked off their guilds. Is such sporadic rapid logging on/off still "playing" ESO?

As for me, I'm not sure I can pretend that I "play" ESO since I use the game as a holiday place aside of my mains: I don't touch more than 10% of the content (trading, farming resources, sporadically fishing).

Maybe, but I've been leveling through delves for the most part to get my characters to 80. Usually by the time I've done all 12 delves, I'm there. The only questing I'm really doing anywhere else is the Nightfall dailies. When I get bored of doing that, I'll probably play more ESO.

I mean, I want to be honest: What's much to do for story/lore-focused players who are around for several years already? New content per year is sparse, it doesn't take long after every release until you've seen everything new, events may get 1 new quest sometimes that you also play once, but there's really not much to keep one busy on a regular basis. Of course for someone who starts now, it's a huge mass of content - they have a decade to catch up on, after all - but how does that help a regular who's been playing for a while? You might repeat content on an alt or two, but at some point it also gets stale. And I think for players with a focus on a different part of the game, it's similar, 2-4 new dungeons per year isn't a lot either - can that keep someone busy for a whole year?

I'm still logging in daily, and the main reason is basically collecting clutter housing. Doing this and that to get another rare plan or item, while chatting with a friend. Really, that's somehow what it boils down to: Doing event quests to get boxes with furniture or plans. Doing zone dailies to get plans. Running Archive to get plans or currency for plans. Doing writs to get more writs to get currency to buy plans... If I had no interest in housing, there would be even less to do.

Don't get me wrong, I don't want to complain that ZOS "forces" me into content. That's not true. I choose to do that stuff, I could as well just say no. It seems okay to have a chat and do something while talking - but, yes, I find it hardly exciting. The thing I'm a bit critical about is that I get the impression that ZOS relies more and more on giving us chores repeatables to generate play time, instead of content that's interesting in itself. Just throw another really rare lead or chance for a furnishing or whatever into old dungeon yxz and people will be busy another 15 hours. And yes, I am aware that it doesn't help that we indeed do this, even if it's just out of lack of alternatives.

Yes, daily! Still working on many things.

But I do have to say the FOMO stuff, events, and daily things are starting to increasingly wear me out. I can hardly do what I enjoy in this game anymore, without feeling I am missing out on something else. Really wish ZOS gave us more freedom/playtime back, as I am not one of those players who gets bored and needs to be told what to do every day.

We'll see how long this lasts. I am entering the age of inventory management as I no longer believe the ESO+ is worth the price.

Don't know what the future holds but I know it's doubtful that I will be able to play competitively since I would be a nerfed pure class.

Not even getting my beloved jabs back would make a difference at this point.

I am currently playing, but I did check this forum for a while when I didn't even own the game.

I played the betas and I thought the game was ok, but not worth the box price plus a subscription fee, so I didn't buy it. But I still thought it had potential and I'd check in on the forum every so often looking for something that would convince me it was worth the cost. Instead I got the news they were dropping the mandatory subscription and I bought a discounted copy of the game that day.

I didn't post in that time (except one topic asking why my forum account hadn't been locked when the betas ended, which prompted ZOS to get on and do it) and I wasn't here every day, but I was still checking in regularly.

It's been the same when I've taken breaks from the game since then. It's probably because I'm bored with it, or something else has caught my attention, and keeping up with the forum is something I can do when I'm not able to play games which lets me know if there's something worth logging in for. I know ZOS do official announcements but that's only for things they consider news-worthy, and of course they're going to say everything they announce is great and exciting and you absolutely must play it.

Every time I've stopped playing I've checked in here from time to time to see if the things that make me stop playing have changed and to contribute on those subjects. Since I'm honest about it when on hiatus I occasionally get people trying to gatekeep me which I find rather odd: if a subject is handled in a way people care about enough to quit ESO despite being invested in the game, those people's views, I'd think, can be quite useful.

i stopped playing for the longest time but i picked up the last few chapters for dirt cheap so ima workin through them. I think people threatening to quit over feature x is very immature and not productive. Like most threats they are empty. The ones that say nothing are the ones zos need to be worried about. Like it or not like it, this game is a survivor lol.

The games not in a good enough state that i would pay for a season pass though. Its pretty much in maintenance mode but i wanted to finish the chapters and who knows maybe they will come up with some good out of the zosbox ideas now that they are free of the chapter model. Subclassing is a good start imo.

I voted no as I do not play the game anymore, I played on PS4 and 5. I moved on to play other games mostly on PC, and enjoy that decision very much. I still keep an eye on the forums from time to time, to see if changes have been made to the game, which drow me away from ESO.

I play irregularly and less and less. Since I'm only interested in PVE and the last chapters bored me rather than captivated me, I mostly play other games. I only do the endeavours and then I log out. Sometimes not even that anymore.

I'm sorry to see that, and hope we'll keep in touch. If you're stuck for a replacement I can recommend Oblivion Remastered.

It doesn't apply to you, but I think there's often confusion on the forum when some players say they're quitting but in reality they mean they're no longer subscribing.

Of course it's also said that people don't leave ESO, they just take a break before returning  !

Thanks! Appreciate the sentiment. I'll pm you an email; as you may imagine, I'm sticking around a bit until I see what happens on PTS (but of course, most of us know that what shows up on PTS generally is released like it landed); but after June 3, it's very likely I'll be on a permanent vacation from ESO.

I really would love to play Ob Remastered but I hate steam, so I'll need to wait until it (and Starfield) show up on GOG. Right now I'm deep into a new install and playthrough of Skyrim (two profiles: one with LotD and gazoolas of quest mods for it, and one that's fairly close to vanilla - just some QOL mods). Having a LOT of fun!

You are one of the people I will miss from this forum. Live long and prosper!

I play daily on two servers, but the amount of my playtime varies a good bit from day to day because I'm playing a few other games as well. Yesterday was all ESO, for several hours on each server. The specific content that I play in ESO also varies a good bit depending on endeavors, pursuits, events, and whatever happens to catch my fancy on that day.

Currently no. Saw stuff about the subclassing, so I came to have look see at what's going on with that. Debating on coming back if it looks promising, buuut waiting on more pts patch notes before I make a decision. Been a few years since I last played, so that'll be an interesting adjustment lol

Mostly dropped the game a while ago. Got over 5000 hours logged on steam though. But with subclassing looking like a complete trainwreck I'm not sure ill bother jumping back on with the next release.
