They can still do both!
Haven't been able to do both yet. All they've done is add more companions. They haven't expanded the system's capabilities whatsoever since its launch.
If I had to choose between the 2, I'd prefer the system to be heavily expanded, more interactive and given more depth.

Consider that this year, we aren't getting Companions. The content release cadence is changing — maybe in a future Season, Companions will have more development budget allotted to them.
That naturally means something else gets less priority. Maybe we could go a few months without new dungeons for a total Companion rework with new Companions?

I'd love it if he could drag us into an adventure while delving into some arcane, uncommon Altmer lore, or something like that. Maybe tie him into antiquities and give him some kind of "restoration" perk that enhances our ability to find uncommon leads due to his assistance as a researcher?
I'd also like a clockwork city companion that uses prosthetics and has unique powers related to them. So on that front, I'd also like a male dunmer with a bit of snark and an outlook/life philosophy relating to the lore surrounding Sotha Sil and other happenings in the clockwork city.
Perfect. As usual.

In case of Dunmer, that's not shyness, it's a safety measure

That is one of my favourite lines from him too.
I even made him a special little fishing spot in my main house. Most of my furnishings are found or made by myself, but for Sharp I actually went to buy him a fishing pole rack from the guild store because he is my favourite and gets special treatment like that.

I gave him his own little mud house. I hope he loves it!

You might not be familiar with it, but especially in Vvardenfell, one should not be too trustfulOr in Tamriel as a whole, actually.
Reminds me of that Altmer I once knew. Led a cult or something like that, and always complained about his ex having condemned his little hobby (necromancy it was, I believe). Before you ask: No, we're not friends anymore! One day he offered me a back massage and tried to stab me! Well, I don't dwell on it anymore; it's over a decade ago, after all...

If we’re going the NPC route I’d like Titus Valierius as a companion; he is probably my favorite NPC in the entire game.Titus comes off as a warrior instead of soft like Bastion and childish like Isobel. I really like Bastion and Isabel so don’t think I’m trashing them but their mentality doesn’t really fit the adventurer mold - especially Isobel as a knight. This dissonance seems to be a theme among half of the companions outside of Zerith Var, Sharp as Night, Miri, and Azandar who all fit their roles very well.

Yes, I also find it very toxic if people keep trying to interfere with my hobbies. If I'd start a daedra-worshipping cult, I'd fully expect my partner to support my plans.

That calls for a compromise. Let's say... daedra worship from Monday to Wednesday and destroying other people's daedra-worshipping cults from Thursday to Saturday?
I'd love to see them having been lovers becoming official canon, btw. Would make the story more tragic. And maybe explain Mannimarco's unhealthy obsession. But that's probably too dark for... what's common today.

Well, if I think back at my relationships, Sundays are usually spent in bed. Discussing the words of arcane philosophers, theories about the disappearance of the Dwemer, thaumavocalism, tonal architecture, the Coldharbour Compact, the Sharmat and the Tribe Unmourned,... the usual things.JemadarofCaerSalis wrote: »sometimes destroying daedra worshipping cults just can't wait.
I don't see a real reason to hurry. If you miss destroying one cult, who cares?! The next one will appear faster than you can say Addadshashanammu.JemadarofCaerSalis wrote: »Yeah, it would have been interesting to have that, and it would have made a lot of sense with both of their personalities.
They had a perfect chance for that during that quest on Artaeum where you see flashbacks of the time when Mannimarco and Galerion studied together. I was actually slightly disappointed they didn't make more of that. But maybe in future? Not sure if they would dare to, though.

Hmm... that is fair.
But, if I don't destroy that cult NOW, their loot will get away! I can't have that! They might have a nifty piece of trash collectible that will just complete one of my houses!
Yeah, when I saw those scenes, that is where my mind went for sure.
I also seriously doubt anything will come of it, for multiple reasons.

Well, that's a problem indeed... In fact I'd enjoy a companion who gives me extra clutter furniture. But I bet many people would hate getting even more items useless for them into their inventory.LootAllTheStuff wrote: »The first rule of building a fantasy-based IP is: always leave room for fanfic.

Why exactly should their (possible) relationship be reserved for fan fic only? We've seen other stories of couples parting before, like that conflict between Shalidor and his wife.

I am the type of person that in Morrowind, I had like 100s of different napkins (made them myself! along with ones others made), multiple recolors of the dishes and silverware and so on. I hated that they removed all that 'useless clutter' because it was some of my favorite bits of the game! Especially placing it (not sure it would be now, because I have been spoiled with better furnishing mechanics)
Then I got to oblivion and it was like 'where is the loot?'.

I also think I hoarded more clutter than actually (more or less) useful things like weapons and armor in Morrowind... Especially books (I tried to get one copy of every book there was, of course), lights (candlesticks, lantern, etc), and pillows. Although my houses, of course, also needed a bit of tableware. I'm only playing civilized characters, after allReally missed the variety of items in later TES games (and placing the few that existed in your homes also got much more complicated - let alone that in Skyrim they never stayed where I intended them to be anyway because usually some npc ran into them).

Oh.
But seriously: I don't want ESO to become some weird romance novel, but I really do like if they give the more well-known characters more background lore. I loved what they made of Sotha Sil. In case of Mannimarco and Galerion, when ever that topic comes up, I always think back at the missed opportunity. It's irking

Yeah, that was one of the issues I have, even without someone running into them, I had items that decided they weren't wall furnishings, or that the table was NOT where they wanted to be.

In Skyrim, I used a mod that makes every character you've reached a high level of rapport with a potential follower. And you could permanently assign them to a location. Let's say I ended up with a house full of Bosmer. And one day when I returned, one of them was somehow stuck standing in a kettle with three other Bosmer standing next to him
By the way... Where did that one go? @ArchangelIsraphel I bet he's "busy" lying on Southpoint beach drinking sausage water again...
