insightful is the disagree button
someone replying to the person they're disagreeing with and receiving more updoots than the op speaks at about the same volume as just hitting some dislike button.
There was a disagree when the forums launched. They removed it because they thought it discouraged dialogue. They wanted people to explain why they disagreed with a post or comment instead of downvoting and moving on. Then they removed the LOL because people were mockingly using it as disagree.

Furthermore fellow players having to elaborate on the matter [of disagreeing] means that their arguments are also subjected to 'peer review'.
I always find it amusing that the absence of a 'disagree' button is equated by some to a prevalence of 'thin skinned' fellow players; to me the ones who yearn for the ability to express dissent while withholding their arguments from scrutiny - providing that they have formulated any which in my experience is not a given - are the ones that don't feel particularly confident in the strength of their reasoning and crave the sense of validation 'blind disagreement' provides.

I disagree, and by your way of thinking the agree button should be removed as well.

Speaking of thin skin, what I don't get is why people get in such a huff about a literal UI button not being present that does nothing other than increment a number by +1...
