I have been asking for this forever and am so happy to see it being implemented!

*The team has also reworked specific Craft (green) Champion stars so they no longer need to be slotted for you to benefit from their effects*

Fantastico!

So now I can have my horsey boons and my crafting boons at the same time. This is an absolutely great qol improvement because I no longer need to switch from pvp horsey to go crafting, which i forget to do sometimes... a lot of the time... pretty much all the time...

Yeah, this plus the visual upgrade of old zones were my highlight of the Livestream - really good!

Definitely one of the best qol changes we've had recently. All my chars switch between PvE/PvP and crafting/stealing so this will absolutely save me the hassle of switching the green stars all the time. I had a real nerdy excitement bounce when they announced this lol :)

It's a good start, but really should have shipped that way. Let's hope they improve other aspects of the game this year too.

I am very happy about this.

IIRC, the original reason cited for requiring the swaps was performance. There was an issue with having too many checks if there were too many passive cp attributes. I'm not going to hunt down the article but maybe someone has it handy.

I guess they found a way around that.
My #1 wish for ESO Today: Decouple achievements from character progress and tracking.

I missed the stream yesterday because I live in Hollywood and had, well, other priorities, so I'm just getting caught up on things with this article

I've been pretty pessimistic about the game in the last few years, and general plans laid out in December left me extremely dubious, but I have to say, everything in this article sounds... good.

Good news, has used an mod who automatically switches depending on needs but this is overall great.
Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

Well, technically, as you're probably aware, it did. And there was much bemusement when suddenly all our passives (doing such basic things as not requiring you to sit through a deliberately long animation of harvesting a node so you kept playing ESO for a year to speed it up) became slottables and a general assumption that it would be reversed within months. I would say better late than never but the changes should never have been made to the green tree in the first place. It was bonkers and it's taken them literally four years.

Good point. They could have saved a several years of headache if perks had remained passive. I've got to wonder what changed - if anything - that those nodes can be made passive again. When they started granting unlockable passives via companions it had many wondering how this was possible given that past changes to cp were in the name of "reducing server checks." I can only guess that their experiment was either bogus or they eventually concluded it made no difference at all. I don't recall if they ever shared their findings.

My guess, and it's only a guess, is that seeing that they appear to be doing a root and branch review of new player experience including such almost comical examples of MMO malpractice "gameplay" as the speed of horses, they finally had a think about whether it was really a good idea between people having to choose between spending five minutes picking up a flower and getting decent items when deconstructing gear. Because it isn't.

When this was discussed, there were a tiny clutch of green tree slottables that people pointed out actually had an impact in PvP so I guess that's why they're keeping some QOL things that really should be passive slottable (there's not much point in having slottables if there aren't enough to force the player to choose). To my mind, it would have made more sense to take those specific slottables out of the green tree entirely. Put them in one of the others, make the green tree wholly passive, and break the idea which I assume drives the green / blue / red distinction that the green tree relates to stamina, which was always very tenuous.

They put a bunch of effort at the end of 2024 into asking people about what they would like to see changed.
This is probably something that came up a lot and it is really low hanging fruit.
    Make green slottables passive.
Literally everyone is happy about it.

I'm hoping this is a reminder that CP exists and the entire point of slottable CP's was they could add more of them to allow for niche uses without adding power creep.
Let's be honest, 6% direct damage vs 6% aoe damage is bland and boring. Hopefully we can get something more interesting for the blue and red tree in the future.

Also hoping for U46 they finish the hybrid changes to pots and buffs. Like, please. Everyone wants it, it's been years. Do the last 10%.

It's only certain stars, not the whole tree,so still gotta slot things and change up.I use addon on PC to autoslot stars in green tree as needed,so the change don't affect me there really. But for people without addons,it'll be a bit nicer, depending on the stars they are changing.

I just hope they add Master Gatherer to the passive list before it goes live.

They can't add too many because otherwise the small handful of skills in there that actually give players more power will be the only ones left that are slottable (meaning they might as well not be slottable at all because everyone will slot them). As I say above, the better way to do this would be to remove those skills from the green tree and put them somewhere else, leaving the green tree wholly without slots, rather than ram two completely unrelated sets of skills into one tree. But, plainly, that is not what they wanted to do.
