The original subforums remain for posterity and in case they decide to revert back to using them.
I wouldn't be surprised if it doesn't, given that after all this time ZOS somehow still can't fix the forum post jumping problem. This forum software is just rubbish, there are heaps of better alternatives available.SeaGtGruff wrote: »The original subforums remain for posterity and in case they decide to revert back to using them.
I think that's a bad decision, personally, as it's confusing and also kind of negates the whole point of trying to simplify the forum's organization. It seems like it would have been better to just merge those old subforums together into the new subforum name-- assuming the forum software allows that, which I'd be surprised if it doesn't.

This is a good example of someone on the forums asking for something and getting the exact opposite of what we want. Instead of consolidating a bunch of those subforums that no one ever visited, they consolidate the ones a lot of players are very passionate about and are active. Then we still have too many subforums but not enough at the same time, ironically.

You might actually be surprised at how much Vanilla forum software CAN'T do.

The issue is, if they just merged them and then it turned out that having all 3 subforums in one place is too chaotic they'd have to go through a ton of effort to un-merge them.
With the current set up, it's only in place until they make a decision whether the change will be permanent or not. After which they'll either remove the original subforms entirely like you suggest, or re-organize the subforums to try a different configuration.
