Then we have the companion for you !
Zerith-va will require you to enter, learn and win a ToT daily as a part of his favour.
Yes!! We will make you play our vastly inferior card game whether you like it or not !
I was hesitant to get into Tales of Tribute before I met Zerith-var. But, I found that I genuinely enjoy the card game! It took a bit of research into some basic strategies to get me started, but I think I've found a Tales of Tribute playstyle that I enjoy.
I also didn't know about the existence of the Northern Elsweyr Defense Force daily quests before Zerith-var. I'm genuinely impressed that this one Companion has gotten me to try totally new parts of the game that I wouldn't have otherwise tried.
People don't like, nor want ToT. It is fine as long as it sits there and is not required for any other aspect of the game. The fact people are supposed to learn and win this.. It is not one game, it is learning the game, then winning the game. Trivialising it to, 'They just need to win one game' is disingenuous.
"People don't like" implies a general consensus when in reality, it's some, very vocal people, possibly even a majority of people, who don't like Tribute. So please, don't imply that you're speaking for everyone. It may not be incredibly popular, but though it has some issues, I love Tales of Tribute and I wish they would make it more available to play against even more challenging NPCs across the world. I wish they would give me more ToT content. Because people hate on it so much, I can't have that.
In this situation, I don't complain endlessly, I just get on with my life.

The point is, some people do not like it. So do not put achievements behind it.

Not whether people should or should not play it. There are enough vocal people who have expressed a dislike for it, that no achievement for the main game should be involved in this.
What if we had a companion that required you capture a fort in Cyro, or win 5 Battleground matches?

No, let me just NOT get the glowing heavy sack achievement.....

Also why don't we just make the next companion require the emperor/empress title, or triad achievements in all the veteran dungeons because after all, "You could just not do it!" Wow! Such an amazing solution! What ingenuity!

It's been a few days since launch, is there any knowledge on whether the "free with eso+" thing is temporary or not?
It's marketed as an "ESO+ Deal" which are usually temporary.
it's not marketed as having a limited time like the ESO+ deals in crown store showcases.
It also doesn't have a countdown.
it's basically dlc so it likely won't ever disappear
It kind of looks like those monthly ESO+ deal offers... And the wording of "At l;aunch..." also got me suspicious. I'd rather wait to get an ESO+ sub with the New Life Festival and get the new Companions then too...

What do you mean by quest achievements? The favors? To my knowledge they need only High Isle for ToT. Am I missing something?
If you are talking about his quest line I thought any teleportation takes you to an instanced areas (I might be mistaken though).

His third quest ported me into the Rimmen Necropolis & Orcrest Public dungeons in Northern Elsweyr. It definitely wasn't separately instanced.. as I saw the usual small groups of players running about killing bosses. Unless ZOS just happened to remove those two locations Chapter requirements..
Anyway the point is they said this companion is yours to keep once purchased from the crown store and failed to mention you'd never actually be able to complete their favor tasks without an active sub or further chapter purchases.

I like ToT but have no interest in PvP whatsoever (same feeling as you have about ToT). We have furnishings and achievements in PvP areas. So, if I want them, I have to go there. There is a furnishing locked behind a trial. Many lore books are in trials and in PvP areas too. We also had a lead for the Hero of ... added to a trial this year. People did not like it too (myself included), but I wanted it, so I went there.
Besides, from what I see, you do not have to play with people for this achievement. Just play with NPCs for the daily.

JemadarofCaerSalis wrote: »So, I don't see how 'tales of tribute daily quest' is any different than needing to do the infinite archive?
the difference is in the necessity to have access to High Isle DLC.
(Infinite Archive is accessible even with the Base game only)
Ember and Izzy are bound to High Isle Chapter, so theirs demands for High Isle delve/WB quest are OK
Azandar and Sharp belong to Necrom DLC, so dailies in Telvanni Peninsula are OK
both Zerith-var and Tanlorin are not bound to the Gold Road or any other paid DLC and theirs recruiting quests happen in the vanilla zones.
one of Zerith-var's favors -- Complete any Tales of Tribute Daily Quest with Zerith directs players to the High Isle, as these is where two NPCs offering ToT dailies (Kishka and Marunji) are located. Without owning the DLC or being subscribed - player can not perform that, except during Free ESO+ Trial weeks. The said weeks occurrences are not guaranteed and they have no know exact schedule.
That is the difference.

Yes, this is quite understandable.
Though one of my friends in ESO is "achievemntoholic" and they do whatever achievements regardless if they like what they do or hate it. The Achievement points become the unstoppable driver.
It is not exactly the same about Zerith-var, but he, basically, points to a decision: if i am really a good Companion and you value me - do me a favor: play this boring card game for me! Well, just one daily.
i would refrain from discussing ToT, though i think the game is good. Two it's major inconveniences are:
- it does not fit the fantasy universe well
- we, players. playing versus each other many players tend to delay theirs moves for entire 90 seconds, making the pace of the game totally unbearable. i don't live that long to spend 25..30 minutes for one match. Though there are, of course, good players displaying good sportsmanship.. but we don't know in advance.

So you asked a question, had it answered... and reject the answer anyway? Why bother coming here and asking then?
