question if anyone knows, if you get a focus/signature/affix script on your main character, from some kind of RNG drop like a daily or something. And then you learn it on your main character, can you then buy it on an alt? Maybe from the vendor in the scholarium? Or do you have to farm all these scripts that are RNG based on every single alt?

One thing I tested at least is transferring earned scripts on other alts to the bank. SUCCESS! At least there's that for easier completion on the main scriber.

Otherwise completely agree with everyone's sentiment in this thread... Was excited but feels like false advertising. Even those who tested it on PTS never said anything about this limitation (I never read or heard it). Whether they knew or not, you knows?

    1. Grimoires and Scripts: account wide (if this isn't rectified fast, similar situation to jewelry crafting, the player base with take a hit like never seen before).
    2. Alts earning Scribing quest line (similar to Psijic skill line) - is very lengthy. Psijic is arduous and boring after you do it once. At least the Scribing story/quest line is one of the best in the game, but no way in heck would I do it again! Most players will take several days/~1 week to complete it.
    3. After completion on first toon: both Scribing & Psijic should be a shortened version of the full quest line (25%-35% of their full storyline). NO ONE cares about doing the same content twice for the sake of using those skills. No one has ever considered the Psijic skill line a must have.

@Bethesda/ZOS - I hope this gets patched ASAP. This is not a player based consideration. You should have learned a lesson with jewelry crafting. How quickly you forget! (Or is the $ really more important? Players make the game. I guess we'll see what kind of customer service you offer in response to this outcry.)

Edit/update: to players... check out the Alcast link for the best info I've seen regarding scribing details...

    1. After completion on main scriber...Alts only have to do the scribing tutorial to unlock the scribing area/alter for use. (Will confirm soon)

But then how can they sell the skill lines in the crown store?
Crown Crates are a trap. Don't fall for the gamble! Balance? What Balance? Balance, smellance.

Well Guss I am done with Scribing. I cannot complete the final Scribing quest the fox stops halfway and will not move.

    [snip]

    [snip]

You probably ran out of focus. Drop down from the path. You will be teleported to the start of the segment. Focus again and follow the fox. Look up. You should see multiple wards. some will be accessible (the closest ones). They need to be dispelled as you move.

Edit: that is what I had to do when I thought that I was stuck too.

i don't know why that was the goal for ZoS, but it's the decision they made.

Ever since they went through all the sets and skills a couple years back to "standardize" everything, everything has to be close to the same strength. So from that point until the end of the game's life, everything will be very close to equal power wise.

It's all the same skill, just with different animations, and slight variations.

I think that might be the general idea-- i.e., trying to keep things reasonably balanced-- yet some players will always find ways to min/max everything and get BIS/META builds, which leads to other players complaining about lack of balance, which leads back to attempts to keep things reasonably balanced, like a vicious circle.

It is absolutely remarkable to me how some people simply refuse to believe that they are wrong and will double down on being wrong just so they do not have to admit to being so.

For the last time (for everyone)... When this bug happens, there are no wards period. ...

It's even more remarkable when ZOS themselves say it's bugged and are working on it. They posted the workaround and everything.

For the last time (for everyone)... When this bug happens, there are no wards period. You can stand there all day and they never show up. There is no focus to expire, nothing happens.

Of course you can stand there all day and nothing happens. The wards are on a timer, which starts from the moment you use the focus. If you don't get the wards removed before the timer expires, they disappear.

Any bugs with the PTS version of the quest have been fixed, as there is no mention of it in the Update 42 Known Issues.

This was a bug after the release of the patch notes.

They (ZOS) confirmed it on this very forum in another thread.
Jessica also confirmed it on Reddit and Twitter.

The workaround provided spamming a wall of fire/wall of ice while running worked for me because I also had the bug.

Do your research first if you try to outsmart people. :p

When they first released the new materials for max level gear, at the time, it was Veteran Rank 15 and 16, there were no resource nodes for this material.

They also made it so VR16 gear needed 10x the amount of material to make a single item than the same item at VR15.

The only way you could acquire this new material was to deconstruct the gear you could find in only one location, the Imperial City.

Can you imagine how this was a rough grind? This is normal for an MMO. They make it a nasty grind at release to slow down people who want to 100% it immediately.

I ask you now, is it a major grind to get the materials to make CP160 gear? No, it's not anymore.

Calm down. This is normal. One day scribing is going to be too easy to do.

i remember that, i used to sell rubedite ingots for 300g each back in the day lol

they never altered the cost it takes to craft, the mats just became significantly more plentiful when they added material nodes for it and one tamriel to allow those nodes to appear in every zone due to being scaled to your level/craft skill

i agree that they will probably end up increasing the drop rates of ink

Prior to OT during Tamriel unlimited you could only find the nodes in wrothgar and it was only 50% chance.

i was selling for that much right after IC came out, which i think was pre-wrothgar lol

there literally was no nodes for ruby mats at the time, the only real way to get them was farming in IC and then deconning the gear

once actual harvestable nodes started appearing the price started coming down and really tanked after one tamriel

It's really that bad. That's why they're selling for 150k+ on PCNA and 100k+ on EU.
    OtarTheMad wrote: »

the approximate drop rates from harvesting (non-survey) nodes is about 2-3x rarer than nirncrux

the drop rates from NPCs are about equally as bad, not aetheric cipher level but enough so ive never seen once since completing scribing system on monday

Oh lord. Why would ZOS make it so rare? I mean I get it it wasn’t exactly easy but to make it so rare is such a bummer, especially for me since I don’t play a lot. I was hoping Scribing skills would fill some holes on my Magcro until they got fixed but guess not.

EDIT- I mean I don’t even mess with the Nirncrux grind, I just do transmutation stones to change some weapons. If I need a stone I’ll do the same instead I’ll decon the item for the stone and sell it.

i do the same thing with nirn, i dont explicitly farm it from nodes, though if i happen to get one its always a nice find

the ink has been pretty bad, i did scribing monday, and just finished 95% of the west weald zone last night (all story quest, side quest, POIs, except for 1 bugged public dungeon boss) and have not even seen a single drop for ink yet

No one wanna do it and waste 5 minutes on doing it again, not even me, if I spend money on a dlc, I expected the to not be much grinding but depend what it is but also should be adding on all characters which is not.

What's really bothering me is that doing a Daily Delve quest on one character to get a script to drop, means that any Daily Delves done in different zones or even on different characters won't get a guaranteed drop until the next day. On top of that, I keep getting duplicate scripts, but they're character bound so they're worthless. Even though I already know them, they keep dropping and the only thing that prevents me from rage quitting is that I can at least consume them so they don't keep taking up inventory space. This is inexcusable.

I understand wanting to prolong the content so people don't just finish everything in the first week of release, but I don't think this is a good way to do it.

I agree that the alt thing and the getting the resources is to painful right now.

I don't play in groups or do a lot of the things needed to unlock achievements to that stuff is out for me.

They are not going to change the way I play by forcing me to get all those achievements and the infinite archives plus group dungeons and such. I play solo so forcing me to groups sucks.

Not that I don't like people but it's to much of a pain to organize stuff at the times I play.
