And then you learn it on your main character, can you then buy it on an alt? Maybe from the vendor in the scholarium? Or do you have to farm all these scripts that are RNG based on every single alt?
One thing I tested at least is transferring earned scripts on other alts to the bank. SUCCESS! At least there's that for easier completion on the main scriber.
Otherwise completely agree with everyone's sentiment in this thread... Was excited but feels like false advertising. Even those who tested it on PTS never said anything about this limitation (I never read or heard it). Whether they knew or not, you knows?
1. Grimoires and Scripts: account wide (if this isn't rectified fast, similar situation to jewelry crafting, the player base with take a hit like never seen before).
2. Alts earning Scribing quest line (similar to Psijic skill line) - is very lengthy. Psijic is arduous and boring after you do it once. At least the Scribing story/quest line is one of the best in the game, but no way in heck would I do it again! Most players will take several days/~1 week to complete it.
3. After completion on first toon: both Scribing & Psijic should be a shortened version of the full quest line (25%-35% of their full storyline). NO ONE cares about doing the same content twice for the sake of using those skills. No one has ever considered the Psijic skill line a must have.
@Bethesda/ZOS - I hope this gets patched ASAP. This is not a player based consideration. You should have learned a lesson with jewelry crafting. How quickly you forget! (Or is the $ really more important? Players make the game. I guess we'll see what kind of customer service you offer in response to this outcry.)
Edit/update: to players... check out the Alcast link for the best info I've seen regarding scribing details...
1. After completion on main scriber...Alts only have to do the scribing tutorial to unlock the scribing area/alter for use. (Will confirm soon)

It's not that bad on 1 toon, but for the life of me I cant understand why they want us to re grind scripts on every alt.
Or at least make the guaranteed script drops per char, not per account.
the skills are all intentionally weak.
i don't know why that was the goal for ZoS, but it's the decision they made.
Ever since they went through all the sets and skills a couple years back to "standardize" everything, everything has to be close to the same strength. So from that point until the end of the game's life, everything will be very close to equal power wise.
It's all the same skill, just with different animations, and slight variations.

It's even more remarkable when ZOS themselves say it's bugged and are working on it. They posted the workaround and everything.

Any bugs with the PTS version of the quest have been fixed, as there is no mention of it in the Update 42 Known Issues.

They also made it so VR16 gear needed 10x the amount of material to make a single item than the same item at VR15.
The only way you could acquire this new material was to deconstruct the gear you could find in only one location, the Imperial City.
Can you imagine how this was a rough grind? This is normal for an MMO. They make it a nasty grind at release to slow down people who want to 100% it immediately.
I ask you now, is it a major grind to get the materials to make CP160 gear? No, it's not anymore.
Calm down. This is normal. One day scribing is going to be too easy to do.
i remember that, i used to sell rubedite ingots for 300g each back in the day lol
they never altered the cost it takes to craft, the mats just became significantly more plentiful when they added material nodes for it and one tamriel to allow those nodes to appear in every zone due to being scaled to your level/craft skill
i agree that they will probably end up increasing the drop rates of ink

Prior to OT during Tamriel unlimited you could only find the nodes in wrothgar and it was only 50% chance.

the approximate drop rates from harvesting (non-survey) nodes is about 2-3x rarer than nirncrux
the drop rates from NPCs are about equally as bad, not aetheric cipher level but enough so ive never seen once since completing scribing system on monday
Oh lord. Why would ZOS make it so rare? I mean I get it it wasn’t exactly easy but to make it so rare is such a bummer, especially for me since I don’t play a lot. I was hoping Scribing skills would fill some holes on my Magcro until they got fixed but guess not.
EDIT- I mean I don’t even mess with the Nirncrux grind, I just do transmutation stones to change some weapons. If I need a stone I’ll do the same instead I’ll decon the item for the stone and sell it.

You do not need to do the entire scribing questline every time, you only need to do the intro quest that takes like 5 minutes. The bonuses from completing the questline are available under your account upgrades.
Spent money on the new DLC. Re subbed. Scribing seemed amazing with all the videos on it and everything.
But once you get started and realize how bad getting Ink is. And how stuff doesn’t transfer to alts [snip]. I’m already done with this and there is NO WAY I’m going to grind for new scribes on every single alt.
This is ridiculous.

If this is the case, already really disappointed. Make it account wide ZOS, we all HATE grinding so much. Please
I want to test the skills on my alts without horrible grinding

Yes, you were. Tales of Tribute isn't boring at all!
