Can we fix some dead sets now?

With the impending death of pyrebrand and azureblight, we are now seeing the already shallow puddle of usable sets getting even shallower. Can the dev team make an effort to go back and make some sets actually useful or just not completely massacre the only two usable aoe sets in the game? Monolith of Storms is an obvious candidate to be made useful, since it's actually a cool set and newer, but any proc set that has some semblance of aoe is going to be needed to retain any level of health to the pve endgame. Arc is already conceptually oppressive to class variety, and with LC being pretty much purely made for Arc + Azure, this change is hugely detrimental to the playability of the newest content as well as a variety of older fights like Bahsei, Reef Guardian, Yaselya, etc. If the void isn't filled by another usable proc set, the floor to endgame content is going to raise to a level that it gatekeeps a huge portion of the player base.

More severe proc conditions, as you need to control your pet with pet commands while protecting them, and all for 10% less damage, not to mention, your opponent can control your pets ability to damage them if they have any form of CC.

Oh and you have to get lucky farming an Arena with horrible curation, solo, compared to a dungeon set that’s tradeable. Not even mentioning the fact that Maelstrom Arena came out after White Gold Tower.

There needs to be a massive culling of the many sets that are completely useless and only confuse newer players.

Would also love to see any form of rework to Beacon of Oblivion, as it’s a Daedric Summoning set that discourages Daedric Summoning.

I feel like ZOS really needs to line up all the proc sets and all the stat sets and balance them around current sets so that players can have thematic builds that actually do damage. Like making Auroran's Thunder a little less damage than Pillar of Nirn, Cinders can do around the same damage as Pillar of Nirn, etc. Then the choices are less "all are awful except for these 5" and more "this set looks cool for my build let's use it". I liked making thematic builds on PTS before zos removed the ability to have all gear collected in the book for easy reconstruction and thus makes us go through boxes inside of boxes then reconstruct because the traits aren't right and some are okay but some are just real bad.

I agree they are so many sets and yes most of them aren't worth bothering with.

Every once in a while I think about making a spread sheet that sorts the sets by function, so adds stamina/magicka, increases pen, add spell/weapon damage etc. So I could look at all sets for instance that increase pen and also buff damage then select one based on the 5th bonus.

    It would be useful.

Essence Thief with a little buff would be a nice candidate. Hunt Leader would need a huge boost lol

On this topic of revitalizing old sets, can we get Salvation to be as good as Shapeshifter's Chain?

They both have the exact same proc condition for Werewolves — they're active while you are transformed — but the 5 pc from Salvation gives you 150 WD/SD and 33% Werewolf Transformation cost reduction, whereas Shapeshifter's Chain gives you +1707 Max Stamina/Magicka/Health and 15% cost reduction to all Werewolf abilities, including the Werewolf Transformation ability.

You don't benefit from Werewolf Transformation cost reduction while transformed, so why would someone want a 5 piece Medium Armor set to net them 150 WD/SD (plus 2192 Max Stamina and 129 Stamina Recovery from 2-4 piece bonuses) when they could instead use a 1 piece Mythic for 15% ability cost reduction and +1707 to their max tri stats? Salvation is laughably bad in comparison to Shapeshifter's Chain; any 5 piece set would outperform it.

I'd love to see some love for the shock damage sets:

    Overwhelming Surge:

Increase the damage, decrease the sustain so that the sustain remains the same tiny amount as current, but the damage is actually decent instead of being non-existent. Right now the set is... Underwhelming :sunglasses:

    Monolith of Storms:

Complete redesign from the ground up. Let it bring a real storm instead of a summer breeze.

    Thundercaller:

Allow it to proc off medium weave so it's not just limited to ganking or off meta heavy attack builds

    Storm-Cursed:

Not sure what it needs, but it needs something. Probably just more reliable ways to proc it since most shock damage abilities are underwhelming for DPS outside of wall of elements, wield soul and soul burst (assuming the soul abilities are on a no-pet sorc with the class script). Pets are shock damage, but they cannot proc sets, so they don't count.

On the curation note, They need to make it so once you have all body pieces of all the sets then every boss and chest only drops weapons and jewellery.

Either that or add more sources of weapon drops, it stinks when you find a master chest and it drops you a head set piece thats utterly useless.

Across ESO’s 10-year history, the team has added over 650 unique item sets to the game, allowing players to further customize and perfect their builds.

So much stuff is useless and need to be repurposed. Very simple way of doing it.

All similar type proc sets, aquired similarly should do the exact same dps/hps/shield/resistance/buff/debuff/number of target scaling. All that should change is the damage type and the animations.

They cant say it's not possible. ZOS have already achieved this through scribing. Which is the same thing repeated and aquired from different places.

    Example for 8 sets:
Same 2/3/4 piece stats, direct damage condition, from a dungeon, aoe delayed delayed damage with a status effect. Scaling off weapon/spell damage. Light for mag dmg, med for physical types.
Every single one does same dps except different type of damage, different animation, different sound.
    Exactly like scribing.

They could even be a little bit crazy and throw 1 set in pvp aquire and 1 set in crafting.

Same thing goes for direct single target damage. That's another 8 sets repurposed.
Here $15, goat mount please. Not gambling or paying 45 : lol :
20% base speed for high ping players.
Streak moves you faster then speed cap.
They should of made 4v4v4v4 instead of 8v8.

There not being worthwhile elemental based proc sets is a travesty to the game, especially given how much they've tried to center class identity around certain elemental types.

I don't know if I would do that to every set, but there's no reason for their to not be a basic proc set with similar/identical 2-4 lines and then a proc effect that does the same thing but with each damage type. Think of pillar of nirn but it can do each damage type. That would be such a nice addition to the game that would at least make things more enjoyable and cater to the class identity they've insisted on developing around in the game.
