Bal Sunnar Was a Missed Opportunity

The idea of switching between different eras throughout Bal Sunnar was a really cool concept, and I think Zenimax implemented it fairly well- my only gripe is that this could've been used to give Elder Scrolls' fans their first look at the Dwemer during the First Era, before their whole disappearance. I really wished Zenimax used the time-manipulation concept of Bal Sunnar to show the Dwemer in some aspect, and I just feel like there's a huge missed opportunity in not using it for that purpose.

First, the "early" events in Bal Sunnar took place many centuries after the Dwemer disappeared.

Second, such "opportunities" will always be "missed" because the mystery surrounding them is the whole point of their existence in TES.

btw I don't think they should've delved into the Dwemer or anything, but a brief appearance could've been cool

ZOS deliberately plays with it. Look at the quest in Nchuthnkarst on Vvardenfell...
...where the whole story revolves around the Vanos siblings being accidentally teleported through time and the player character rescuing them. Raynor is teleported into the past and lives with the Dwemer for some time (of course he wants to tell us about the amazing things he saw - but then suffers from amnesia), while Kireth is transported to the future and sees the results of the fall of Baar Dau.

I am troubled by the fact that I did that quest long ago and don’t remember any of that, lol.

Don't worry, ZOS has probably already forgotten about it, too...

But seriously: I remember it because I found it well-written. And a little cruel - they could at least have given us a bit to see! I don't expect them to tell us everything about the disappearance of the Dwemer, but they could have given us a little glimpse at their society while it still existed, at least. Or maybe a living Dwemer teleported into the current time for a few moments, who we could have talked to. At least a few words.

I mean, it's not like we've never talked to one in a TES game. Two actually, in TES3 Morrowind (okay, one of them is a ghost).
