Like others I'm curious if this will let us set the time in houses that don't have a day-night cycle?

I don't expect it to affect a house like Coldharbour Surreal Estate but some houses are stuck in perpetual day or a set time.

    .

No. You cannot get dark night in Psijic Villa for example.

Also it wont change the weather. The weather will still happend. So you cannot set forever starry night in your house.

The item needs weather toggle too!

It is very confusing to have to use event tickets to get parts of a pet that we put together, then get some different parts from other events that we then use on the pet to get the final item. It is not obvious and makes no sense that a pet could be turned into a house or anything else. If it wasn't for my friend telling me these things I wouldn't have any idea how to do any of this.

Why can't we just use event tickets to buy parts of the final product?

Each Soul Fire piece is 5 tickets for a total of 15
Each of the parts to make the hour glass will likely be 10 for a total of 30.
So you need a total of 45.
You can only have 12 tickets.

I'm sure they did this to keep people participating as events come and go. Although at the end of the year, they will likely put all of the items from this year in the event vendor. Only going to cost you 11250 crowns for each final item... or you could have just kept up with event dailies through the year and get the items you want for free.

    That's up to you.
If you want to see what all the craftable lights look like in ESO, use this command on PC NA.

It is not intuitive and doesn't make sense that a pet can be turned into a house or an hourglass or anything else, no matter what their reason was. I don't really care about the hourglass anyway so no I won't be spending crowns for it.

I don't think the lore exists for converting pets to houses, polymorphs, etc. I think it's more like Let's Make A Deal. Do you want to trade your pet for what's behind door #1, door #2, or door #3? Or just keep the pet and hope you don't get zoinked with a pink power ranger costume, or something.

Does the hourglass set a permanent time that stays? Or does it set a time that then progresses? thanks ..

Shame, i didn't know it wasn't able to "lock" a certain time, meaning i thought you could wait til you had the weather you wanted too.

There are a ton of builds that would no doubt love nonstop rain or storms.

Maybe weather can be added in the future.

They won't even give us a toggle to turn off the sandstorms in Thieves Oasis. I don't see them doing it for rain. Would sure be nice though.

So, now that the New Life Festival event is here to conclude this year, what do we now know about the functionality of the Sacred Hourglass of Alkosh furnishing?

So when placed down as a furnishing you can interact with it and shift time of day in given steps:

    Sunrise
    Morning
    Midday
    Afternoon
    Sunset
    Midnight
    Return to normal time

Regarding Coldharbour Estate - it moves the "Sun" across the sky, but generally I did not notice much change in lighting.
In other estates where day/night cycle is present it works very nicely.
My favorite event reward this year.

It’s also really nice because you can hide it partially in a wall or in the floor, and you only need a tiny bit visible to activate it. Like I only have the top/medallion face showing on one house to hide it from view, and it still functions/is clickable.

This makes setting up lighting so much easier. No more waiting until it gets dark.

And the reverse, of course. You can turn on the daylight to see what you’re doing.

I changed my mind and decided to get this anyway since there is nothing else I want to use my tickets for. I only have 1 house I'd like to keep dark but who knows? I may change mind again and use it more than I thought.

This actually does work in Psijic Villa. The shadows change and the lighting on the house does as well.

I didn’t have time to move all the lighting I had at the entrance to see if I did not need it anymore, but I have hopes that they might not be necessary.

This is really a nice addition to housing, but unfortunately all the players that join the game after this event will not be able to use it. I am not sure why it was done this way.

It will probably be sold for profit in the Crown Store, like the other free things we got (Psijic Villa, Antiquarian's Alpine Gallery, etc.)

For those of you that have that lovely wooded 'house/land' (Hunter's Glade, I think its called?) , could you try out the hourglass and see if it affects the lighting there? The property is in a permanent sunset...

I like the concept and will make use of it at times, but its not 100% what i thought/hoped as it doesn't effect weather (it seems). I was hoping to find a "moment" in time, day/night, cloudy, rain/thunderstorm, and lock it in.

When i first got it i ported to my Pantherfang and used it to have a look, but it was heavy clouded and then began to rain, so they changes were minimal until a few hours passed and things cleared.

As it is, i like the addition, hopefully more things like this will come along to control other aspects (weather, background sounds, overall hue- I'd like a hunters glade that isn't so dull red all the time).

Yes, something to stop the sandstorms in the Thieves Oasis that make it difficult to place items accurately and that blow through player built walls and structures as if they weren't even there would be helpful.

I set the hourglass for Midnight at my Druidic themed house at Bouldertree Refuge to show off the subtle lighting of the gardens at night, but it doesn't get as dark as I'd expect. The sky is still somewhat light and it seems to be more twilight than midnight.

I hope they look at this and add more options to make it darker.

It doesn’t make any difference in the otherworld of Hunter’s Glade — the shadows will move around as you change the time, but the resulting level and color temperature of the lighting remains the same as far as I can tell. In the tower portion, the ambient light appeared slightly higher to me at midday as compared to midnight.

Interesting. Guess I'll put it next to my outfit station so that I don't have to turn on the lamp at night to see my color previews lol.

Oh that's a good point, if I put it next to the outfit station I'll be able to see how things look in daylight no matter what.

Now if only I could do something about the rain...

Would be GREAT if we could have something to change weather as well!!

I will second @Sweetpea704 because the option to set the time of day or night has been the number one thing that I have wanted since I got into building homes in this game. I can finally have permanent night to control the lighting! Thank you ZOS!!!
