Final morph for the Soulfire Dragon Illusion, the Sacred Hourglass of Alkosh furnishing!

    Greetings,

After further review we have decided to move this thread to a category we think is more appropriate for this topic.

@ZOS_Hadeostry I just want to politely disagree with the determination that this thread belongs in the “housing” topic. I believe the seasonal/quarterly transformations are of general player base interest, and the hourglass was not general knowledge until now (correct me if I’m wrong).

It is very confusing to have to use event tickets to get parts of a pet that we put together, then get some different parts from other events that we then use on the pet to get the final item. It is not obvious and makes no sense that a pet could be turned into a house or anything else. If it wasn't for my friend telling me these things I wouldn't have any idea how to do any of this.

Why can't we just use event tickets to buy parts of the final product?

You cannot get it yet. But when the next quarter's events starts (keep your eyes peeled on the events news page) you'll be able to buy the pieces to make it from the Event Impresario. What you can do now is start collecting the pieces for the soul fire dragon, as you'll need to morph it to get the furnishing.

Do you think they offer the soul dragon pieces again along with the morph? I'm worried I won't be able to get all the pieces this time because PvP is not my thing.

They should have them each event because people are always trying to catch up and/or prepare for the next event.

...no house, but a measly furnishing???

A measly furnishing that stops time in your house, so you can have an always-night Witches Cottage, or a perma-day Villa. It has a point.

Completely useless if your house does not have a Day/Night cycle.

    How about another house instead.

There was a Heroes of High Isle event on the PTS, maybe the big reward will be a free home?

I've been wanting to build some catacombs using an outdoor space . If this hourglass works as advertised it should ensure that they stay dark inside. Very useful

Not if you don't care about housing it doesn't. It's aesthetics with no real function. At least with a house you can store stuff. But more than that, the issue is the "rewards" in this game keep getting worse and worse.

What's your point here? Another house would be as useless to someone who doesn't care about housing as this hourglass thingy. I mean you only have so much storage chests, and they are shared between all houses. And if you're not into housing you don't really need a place to store furniture. I really don't get the objection here.

Would I like a house as final reward? Sure, especially since the Q3 costume is underwhelming. But I like housing, and I recognize that this hourglas is a unique and cool item. If I wasn't into housing I wouldn't be into either option.

You can always skip the events, or get something else for your tickets, like style pages (to avoid the grind), repair kits or those new companion skill boosters.

    @bridgetrose
Yes. They will have the dragon pieces at each event until the end of the year. You'll need to have 2 dragons if you want to have both the dragon and the hourglass by the end of the year. To have both, make a dragon and then start buying the fragments for another dragon. They won't let you turn the second set to a dragon right away, because you'd already have one. But once you morphed your 1st dragon into the hourglass, you could then use the second set fragments to regain the pet, assuming you had a second set of fragments.

This is supposed to be worked on across multiple events, so don't worry if you don't end this event with a dragon. You'll get the opportunity to buy more of the fragments needed during the next event.

I don't personally care about housing, but my fiancé is super into it so I am 10000% sure he will LOVE the idea of this furnishing.

But as others mentioned, what about the people who are going to miss the various events? New players, people caught up with real life, maybe we should have an all year round event merchant to trade tickets with. Obviously, you'd need events to collect them though.

It surely seems that this specific type of furnishing will be very popular with the housing community, would be a shame if some can't enjoy it due to timing.

@ZOS_Hadeostry this thread should NOT have been moved!!

It is a new item AND the final reward of a year's worth of events, please move it back to General Discussion. Many players will be interested in the final reward not just housing people!

I only found it today because somebody else told me where it had been moved too!

Maybe you could help too @ZOS_Kevin?

Why is this an event ticket reward though? Anyone in the future that wasn't around for the events can't get it.

Should be a crown store item that comes around like once or twice a year.

That's ridiculous. Housing system in Rift had invisible furnishings which changed the time of the day. They weren't limited in availability, housing merchants sold them for gold and in later patches they were added as rare rewards from a mobile-style minigame. This could be a gold sink in ESO too. But then Rift had music boxes available for gold, while ESO relegates them to the cash shop.

Well let's face reality here and accept that this will not be a gold item. ESO works with limited-time crown store and crate gem items.

WoW had a barbershop you could use to alter your appearance any time you wanted for a pittance. ESO charges you real life money to do it. I'm still bitter about that but it is what it is.

I was hoping that putting this item in houses like Psijic Villa that we would be able to change the lighting as that low sun angle wreaks havoc with the decorations at the entrance.

As you activate it (like other furnishings with multiple forms), it cycles through off, morning, daytime, evening, dusk, and midnight if I recall correctly.

    Here's how it looks:
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SbIUieCMynM&t=56s

It's basically the same model as the hourglass from Sovngarde Crown Crates:
    https://en.uesp.net/wiki/Online:Sovngarde_Crate

Although there it doesn't have this day/night cycle functionality, and is called a replica. It's consistent that the real thing looks the same, but at the same time it's kinda lazy to use the same model as a previous reward. Also this replica hourglass is absolutely massive, if the new one is the same size it definitely won't fit into every house there is.

You can use the tile grid as reference for scale. It's slightly bigger than the High Isle hourglass:

Ok thanks for the info everyone. At least you don’t have to wait around in your house for the lighting to be how you want it.

I guess I will just have to get it and give it a try in the Psijic Villa and see if it changes anything.

Thanks for clearing that up. Although now this makes this replica hourglass really strange. Usually replicas are same size or smaller than original, not bigger, especially not by that margin. =)

Yes, weather control!!! I was thinking the same thing, but opposite to you! I want a very long bright sunny day(s)!!! My goodness, it is always raining in Daggerfall, way too much.

If this Sacred Hourglass can do weather that would be amazing!! Or some other item would be fine.

My main use for this will be for lighting set-up. Being able to set the daytime and nighttime in one visit will save so much effort.

Since you can see over the garden wall in most locations, I doubt that the time will stay fixed once I’m done. Interior-only houses were never a problem, and the exceptional ones, like the Psijic Villa, remain that way. It seems like a decent solution, even if it has to get moved from house to house, because you only have a single copy. (Which does not appear to be the case, anyway)
