In the future for sets like arena weapons can you please just have one weapon with a shield?

I have brought this up in the past, but really...what is the point of having every kind of weapon with a shield for weapon sets? Just pick one of them and make it a set, its just annoying to have to get shield + every weapon type when it serves absolutely no purpose.

I think if you unlock the mace, sword, axe or dagger, it should be unlocked for both the sword and shield set and the duel wield set.

Yeah, that would be just as well…there is an argument against duel wield obviously. If they went that far they would probably make all weapon sets one and done.

Wait…I assumed you meant if you unlock one of the weapons for shield you unlock them all…doesn’t really make sense to unlock dagger for shield and automatically unlock duel wield when it is a completely different set.

Well I want a shield only for the mainhand weapon.

Can I have that skill line?

Also a fighter/pugilist skill line please?

Offering 5k crown to buy it.

LOL. Meant to say mace. Good catch.

And still. The choices are there for a reason and over time Zenimax has significantly reduced the odds of getting what we want.

But the point is it doesn't matter which your character has in their hand because there is no statistical difference in any way using a sword, mace, axe or dagger for a S&B setup. You could still appear to have whichever you think suits your character by equipping that style at an outfit station.

If they want a [insert name of next arena here) S&B mace, but one does not exist there is no way to get that style in the outfit station. It would be bad form to force players to obtain every style for an item before they can use it but make an exception for one type of weapon in only one instance.

And…why? You can’t change the appearance well enough at an outfit station?

Different weapons have different passives. There is a reason why DPS people grind kinras daggers and aren't satisfied with an axe, for example.

Not for sword and board. That passive is under Dual Wield for a reason - it only applies while dual wielding.

I don't see this as an issue. Maybe you get a nirnhoned shield when you wanted reinforced or infused, you get multiple chances at rolling a shield.

So to those responding, his beef is not with the shield, but with the weapon that comes with that shield such as from Maelstrom Arena you get a random weapon and the shield from the final chest. The problem he has is that the type of weapon you get generally doesn't matter as there are no passive differences which one-handed weapon it comes with. He wants them all to unlock on the first drop much like the Restoration Staff unlocks stickerbook completion with the first time it drops.

Unless you plan to dual-wield with a weapon set specifically designed around one-hand and shield abilities, that bonus to Shield Bash must be pretty OP with dual wield...

It is definitely farcical to provide sword/mace/axe/dagger as separate options for a weapon that only works with 1h+s as a functioning set bonus.

I don't think they have the ability, however, to code it so dropping the shield and a random weapon unlocks the entire set. This is not because they don't want to, but a limitation on their ability to code. (without breaking something).

Honestly it's where Arenas should really have sets unlocked in their entirity, instead of an individual item unlocked. So if you get a lightning staff it should unlock the entire category. Because Arenas already take longer than regular dungeons, applying the same rules for unlocks as dungeons isn't necessary.

Sounds like a golden opportunity to expand the 1H & Shield Passives a little.

Some of us do dmg with S&B so it would make sense that different weapons could have minor dmg bonuses. Def an opportunity there for improvement.

The issues we used to have were "i keep getting the same drop" now they've become "my stickerbook won't fill up fast enough change the game to accommodate me" misread the OP's title so this comment is unneeded

The solution is simple with curated drops, just run the dungeon/arena a few more times. The loot pool is so small that you only have to run it like a dozen times. This is one of the areas that is only a minor, expected annoyance. In all other games, they drop stuff and if you don't like it that's tough luck try again (or next week/month, if it's a rare spawn).

now if you want to you could ask them to ONLY have 1 weapon with the S&B for future arenas. That The OP's request is a more reasonable ask if it was changed to "Only 1 weapon should drop for S&B," especially with outfit stations existing (i stg there will still be that 1 person who wants to make everyone's life miserable and say "what if i don't want to use the outfit station" even if you suggest this). They could even make style pages for the other weapon styles drop if they want. tldr, you will always get push back on a suggestion like this.

as long as a damage bonus comes with a reduction of survival that comes from the skill line. I have no issue with my S&B being weak on the damaging side since it's core purpose is to increase survivability.

If you get a Vateshran 1H sword you can still make it look like you're holding an axe, dagger or mace by using any of the hundreds of other style pages for them at an outfit station. Cutting the extra S&B weapons themselves would make it a quicker curated grind for people to collect all the different weapons that make a real difference in stats when equipped; while still having all the style pages drop for the rare person that just has to look like they're carrying a Hungering Void mace instead of a HV sword with their Hungering Void shield.

100% agree. For S&B it makes no sense to have each of the 1h weapons a separate drop because they make no difference.

Well that's not quite what I mean. Like how DW and 2H passives have different features depending on the weapon type. Sword increase dmg, Axe is more Crit Dmg, Mace ignores dmg. Something like that for 1H/S. Doesn't have to be as powerful and I don't think setting it up like this would hurt balance that much. I personally don't see any reason to reduce something just because we're adding a feature, especially one that already exists for other weapons. 1H/S already has a passive that increase wep dmg, so just tweak that a little so that each weapon type gets a different bonus.
