Molten Whip is out of control

    Well at least either the damage mitigation or the insane penetration has to go.
    Several players have suggested Corrosive be a purely offensive morph with no mitigation, then Magma Shell would stay as is. There's any number of things they could do to make it less obnoxious. Shorten its duration, increase its cost, etc. Just don't nerf the damage. Stop nerfing damage (stealth instakills excepted, those need to go).

    I'd love to see corrosive go back to its physical pen only stipulation, however open it up to all physical instead of just direct. Give those dots some pen too, but take it from molten. Just my opinion, but dk was never meant to be the bursty class. Hence why it's dots are tuned higher then any other class. Now giving pen to dizzy? Rapid strikes? The handful of physical dots dks can obtain that run on physical damage? That would be a nice balanced buff for a defensive ult, and molten would *still* be a hard hitter, but just not assassin's will levels of clobber-strength with 100% penetration.

    In fact it used to let physical DoTs ignore armor. This is part of a greater problem of newer devs not understanding what the older DK design was about. They are an the Spell-Sword battle mages, then they are the Attrition class, then they are the DoT class, then they are the patient-wait-for-burst-window-class, then they are... etc.

    Personally I'd rather see Corrosive do something more like the following: Keep the damage reduction but instead of letting the DK ignore all armor, instead have it remove all (or maybe just some percentage) of armor for any opponent that steps into their AoE while it's active. This would allow for the ultimate to be useful when others around. As a means to keep DKs in check you could also have a downside. Maybe their mobility is greatly reduced. Maybe their damage. Whatever.

    @Divnyi I agree that the real issue at hand is that the stats in combat are just out of whack. I've seen some of your posts before and for the most part I agree. Damage is too high. Healing is too strong. It's like balancing two elephants on a seesaw and lag is the guy standing between them about to fire a pistol into the air any second. I could go into length about the more systemic changes that I think would help but that's not really the topic on hand here. Besides, most of it has been said before by someone anyway.

    People complained about dot Stam DK's ripping through them when it ignored all physical damage. Which is why it only ignores direct attacks now

    oaken and corrosive dks are absolutely busted and should be nerfed

    but the irony is solo q bg healers like skara & geronimo among others also completely break bgs in a way that's equally and similarly unfun and without any real counter play other than hope that your team of randos can pass a DPS check

    so really its one cancer playstyle calling out an other cancer playstyle because it supersedes the preferred cancer playstyle

    but anyway, yes, I agree it all needs to be nerfed. But I sure am enjoying one shotting these healers :)

    That's one of two acceptable changes.

    Anything but the god-mode button it's been. And yes, I might consider going with Molten Shell if they ever do change Corrosive Armor to Corrosive Weapon. Could be useful in Cyrodiil and BGs when the alternative still leaves you vulnerable. I'll cross that bridge if I get to it though.

    That's why some of us have been campaigning to remove Corrosive's mitigation so you have a choice of morphs: high damage for a few seconds from Corrosive Weapon or high damage mitigation for a few seconds from Molten Shell.

    The problem existed before Oakensoul, it's just greatly amplified now.

    I'd rather re-examine Oaken before touching effective class skills. I'm still tied to the idea of exchanging Slayer and Aegis for Heroism and the approximate amount of burst damage balanced out of clever alchemist and mechanical acuity. It's hypocritical to nerf those things citing lack of counterplay and then have Oakensoul do the same, if not more.

    Agree molten whip and especially corrosive are op.

    That’s why the battleground team with 3 or 4 DKs is extremely hard to beat.

    That’s why 70-80% of bg players are DKs.

    I predict a significant increase in the number of nightblades after U35.
