Please be aware that maintenance is scheduled to begin at 3 AM EDT Tuesday morning, and Tuesday is the final day of the Midyear Mayhem event.
You might want to do a job in Cyrodiil and a job in the Imperial City before 2 AM EDT, but don't turn them in until after 2 AM EDT, so you can be assured of grabbing your final 4 tickets of the event.
After all, we'd all like to hope that we can get back in long before the event ends at 10 AM EDT, but you never know when something unexpected is going to happen.
Best grab your tickets right after 2 AM EDT, then go hit the Event Merchant for any last-day purchases from the Impresario, rather than putting it off until maintenance is supposed to be over.

Not on any forum or forum banner (for 'some'), only the start time in the launcher/game before it
Seems the "we need better communiction" didnt get past down the line or got mangled to "they are mushrooms, keep them in the dark"

I guess constantly seeing the red ‘PC EU is closed as some people can’t log in’ was getting a little too embarrassing for them...

Why Can't It Be Done At Night???
I suspect many people would say that 3am EST is the very definition of night. Any earlier and you’ll be eating into late night PC NA action, any later and you run the risk of hitting prime time PC EU ....
It’s a worldwide game.... it’s always going to be day/night somewhere and presumably it’s cheaper or more effective to do maintenance at times when the maintainers are actually at work .... just in case.
One day a week that’s not even at prime time for either EU or NA seems very acceptable.7 -

or, when large patch files are released we can use the other platform to play while download

16:00 bst is EU rpimetime. In fact they're bringing the server back up in the middle of the most player intense interval which always means 4+ hours of bad login issues and possibly that the server is going to crank again, which in turn means no EU gaming until about 22:00 bst. So you're either lying or uninformed about when EU primetime start so for the record 16:00 bst is 17:00 cest and 18:00 Eastern Europe, which is in the middle of primetime which generally begins somewhere between 16:00-17:00 in a given timezone here.1 -

It's because they move resources massively for the PvP event so it is playable(doesn't help pc EU).
They don't communicate this, it is just obvious based on performance before, during and after.

There are plenty of notices that it is happening. They are not "hiding" that it is happening. They are hiding what is so important that they have to take the whole game down, including PTS and the account system, at the same time. I cannot recall the last time this happened, if it has ever happened.

This seems right, they had the big maintenance the week before mym. Its not something I would have considered without seeing your post though. If this is the case, it needs to be put out there. Its just further proof that bigger servers are needed.2 -

Part of the reason they have this event is to encourage people who don’t usually PvP to participate.
They obviously design events to try to draw in everyone - and then they make announcements about them in one PvP-specific section of the forums rather than General?
Which is it? Is the event only for PvPers? Or is the event for all players?2
