Weird Magicka NB build

I was in Vivec (CP) and saw this Magicka NB diddy bopping around outside Bleaks, naturally as a Sorc, I go after him. He didn't use stealth at all. I threw everything I had at him, Flame/Shock Reach, Frag, Ice Comet. I barely did any damage to him. He proceeded to spam me with Swallow Soul which hit for about 6k each and out-healed my DPS. I fought him twice and was no match. I've seen and dealt with plenty of glass cannon NB's and been able to out-gun them but I've never seen a Magicka NB able to take so much damage. I run two shields and can't take the kind of damage I saw him take. I used to main a destro-resto NB and never did well in PvP with it. I've taken down DK's before so I know I can outlast them, but what gives on these un-damageable NB's.

I do realize Swallow Soul ignores shields (which is BS) but I have a feeling this guy was just playing with me.

Swallow Soul doesn't ignore shields.

It probably was a heavy armor magblade with multiple heals over time (Strife, Mutagen, Siphoning, Path, ...) who did a good job at blocking/doging your reach/frag/meteor.

Damn he's hitting you with 6k swallow souls? Lol you have all impen? You 7 light? Because that's kinda crazy for that skill to hit that hard and you to not be able to hurt him.

Speaking on swallow soul , back when I played magblade for a few months I hit medium and light armor builds for 8k plus so it’s not surprising someone is hitting 6k. But this was last year the meta is different, although that was when heavy armor was way ahead of the rest.

Sounds like you aren't the best sorc and should re-evaluate your build and stats before returning to the battlefield. And swallow doesn't ignore sheilds

8k is not at all unrealistic... I can hit for 9k regularly on my magblade if I get everything lined up right. The secret ingredient is the crit and penetration.

I'm not a slouch Sorc but thanks. I don't usually have issues with NB's other than the glass cannon stealthers. I run one 10k shield, so its not hard to catch me off guard. I'm not sure how it doesn't at least partially ignore shields (CP passive maybe?) cause my health was dropping like a stone with my shield up.

It was an EP NB his name was Llav something or other. I can't recall the full name.

I'm a skirmisher, I go where the heaviest fighting is (no zerging) and do my thing. My kill/death ratio top right corner thats about my average. I run 5 piece Shacklebreaker, 5 Wizards Riposte, 38k magicka, 2400 regen, and around 2600 spell damage with 10k pen. I do pretty good for what I have, and I run lightning staff.

From the sound maybe knightslayer with oblivion would be 4-5k through shields every heavy.

Kill/Death ratio means nothing to me, aside from the fact you are egotistical. I find if you restrain yourself because of a Kill/Death ratio you don't get to learn things. It sounds like they had an oblivion damage enchant. And you run a lightning staff so yeah, you should re-evaluate your build a bit

I’m not saying it’s unrealistic, 8k plus mean 8k and higher..

Well, being as though Kill Counter is the only way you can gauge your actual kills and or kill assists in PvP I'm not sure how that make me egotistical. This isn't dueling. It just means I'm doing my part, and not dying more than I'm killing other players. I'm always learning, I use what works for me in the kind of fighting that I enjoy. I also alternate Flame Staff as well as it doesn't slow me down like the channeling of lightning heavy attack. You can say what you want but I use what works for me and don't follow some meta trend that supposedly works better for someone else. It's all preference.

He makes it sound like it wasn't crit just regular attack. Damage is what half in cyro? So you need a 12k tooltip on swallow to hit 6k non crit. He says "6k each" so unless this guy is just lucky with crits...

Was he in his refreshing path and maybe using a resto ult? He could have had a tanky build too on top of HoTs.

He did use a resto staff and Refreshing Path, yes.

The refreshing path gives him a HoT, and major protection passive making him tankier not to mention a resto ultimate makes anyone unkillable not to mention it's quite easy to get on a magblade.

Swallow Soul goes through shields???? Uhhh nah mate. And for anyone thinking refreshing path gives you major protection, you out your god damn mind. There is a shadow passive however that when standing in your path and casting a shadow skill you gain major resolve and major ward, is that what you mean?? Very confused as to how you getting major protection from path. Aye and btw refreshing path aint that good of a heal lol.

I dunno why for some reason I always thought Swallow Soul ignored shields like Templar Jabs do. It always seemed as though my health would drop like a stone regardless of shields every time I came across a Magicka NB spamming me with that. I guess they must be specced heavily into that shield CP passive.

I know on the recap the first time I fought him said "Light Attack, Swallow Soul, Swallow Soul, Swallow Soul, Swallow Soul" and I didn't see his health drop below 75%. Second time I lasted longer but could not keep my health up, nor my magicka (cost poisons probably.)

If it doesn't ignore shields then at one time it was bugged cause I distinctly remember getting burned down by a guy spamming them and both YES BOTH my shields were stacked. I reported the guy cause i thought it was a cheat. Later I came across him again and all he did was spam that one ability and I died again, my shields never dropped but my health dropped like a stone.

Yeah I was talking about the shadow passives for casting a shadow skill, but somehow my sentence got cut because I was talking about the major protection from the resto ulti morph.

He was probably in like heavy alch/maiden and troll king. That setup hits like a truck and being in heavy + TK makes him pretty tanky against inexperienced players like the OP.

This is why the game gets nerfed to *** every single patch, players like these that believe jabs and strife ignore shields come and complain on the forums and wrobel decides to listen to them instead of players like joy or any other forum goer that has given countless feedback on how to improve the game for the better.
